Great video… Initial D was also the reason why I appreciate cars now. Of course my dream car is the AE86, but since its almost impractical to own one, I bought the spiritual successor and my god it made me love driving so much more.
I remember watching Initial D Legend 3 where you could see the GT86 drive past and at that point I knew I could get one, only just recently bought one so I can't wait to drive it!
I got nothing against initial d fans being partially a fan myself, but it does bother me when people assume I only like this generation of corolla because of an anime. It introduced me to the car sure, but my aprechiation for it came from the simple reason that it was a love letter made as a send off from toyota engineers to the rear drive system. Loved this video mate. I'll refer people to this video whenever conversation about this corolla comes up. Some added fact btw. The name of the tape is actually called "The Touge" however the name pluspy stuck because it was most likely the only english on the box. Pluspy being the producer of the tape.
I love the idea of a series about messing around on the touge at night- but I've never been able to sit through a whole episode of it, there's so much time spent waffling on about nothing! It makes owning a panda 86 quite repetitive too- "you must love initial D?" "not really" "oh, so why do you have this car? and don't get me started on it making people think Levins are all AE85's!
Sensibly priced ones still exist, unless you're dead set on getting a shiny, super original panda Trueno hatchback. I got a 2dr Levin a couple of years ago for 1.1mil yen-- Toda cams, weber carbs, TRD gearset and LSD. Even with shipping and taxes to get it into the UK its still well under half what I've seen dealers try and sell them for here.
Cool video mate also the AE86 was truly a driver's car and the most legendary Japanese iconic car in automotive history. And for me, I only knew about that the Toyota AE86 is a very famous Tofu anime car in the Initial D series, but I didn't very know that the Toyota AE86 was racing in Group A touring car racing and rallying racing as well. In Initial D when Bunta tried to put a new engine the 20V silvertop Group A racing engine after Takumi blew up the engine of the ae86 while racing against the black Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 3.I have kindly loved the sound of the Group A racing engine in the AE86 in Initial D, and one last thing about the AE86 the Toyota AE86 was my favorite beloved Japanese legendary car like the Skyline GTR also my other favorite Japanese car and I wish to play a racing game that has the Toyota AE86 in the game and I will stay focused on this Tofu car and even the Skyline GTR as well keeping balance with these two Iconic JDM legends this is my mindset of cars. also If I had been able to learn to drive a car and had a driver's license the Toyota AE86 would be my very first car I ever owned.
