Another Spaniard here who enjoys your arrangement! You hit the nail completely: indeed, as long as the music "dances" and gives you joie-de-vivre and makes you feel in love with the world, it is played correctly!!
How ironic that a British film about its ship HMS Surprise should bring Boccherini's music to a world audience. It's superb music, where've you been all my life?
The first time I heard this it brought tears to my eyes, and that has never changed. These guys are just kick-ass wonderful and learning something about the piece is an absolute delight.
Случайно наткнулась на сюжет, БРАВО! Показала своим студентам на кураторском часе - почти вся группа отправилась со мной в филармонии, побольше бы таких видео
Boccherini was Italian (born 1742), and thereby was an Italian (duhhhh), where he learnt to compose. He emigrated to Spain in 1761 when eventually he was employed by the King of Spain, whom he managed to piss off by not composing music according to his majesty's wishes. He died in poverty in 1805. His anecdote, 0:14, is somewhat out of order, but apologies accepted. He epitomised Italian baroque (Vivaldi excepted), but was very much able to add a Spanish flavour with his frequent inclusion of flandangos (hey which really worked). A human being, but also a superb composer, whose legacy, of course, is his music. I think I would be privileged to share a drink with him.
Its not baroque, but neoclassical period. Haendel is praised in England as an English musician, no matter he was a German from Hannover, and he composed in Italian style. We are aware of the fact that he was an Italian individual, but, after 40 years living in Madrid do not expect us, Madrid people, to see him as a foreigner.
Thank you so much for this, Kian. I'm Spanish, from Madrid. I knew this wonderful piece from Boccherini, of course, but I really get emotioned listening to them talking about (and playing) Madrid in the XVIII century. Amazing in all senses. Thank you again.
I was born in Buenos Aires , I live in New York now, befor COVID for 12 or 15 years all holidays in Spain, from one extreme to the other But MADRID. Still the show, an absolutely beautiful city, and the quantity and quality of culture is amazing Last time there was December 2019, COVID stop us to travel, I miss Madrid and the family we created there like I was born there This music, I danced it on the street of Madrid Amo profundamente España y madrid me robó el corazón
@@jacobharris3208 What has nothing to do with Spain?Do not say nonsense... this music was composed for the Spanish royal house and paid by the Spanish court...nothing has to do with Italy, but with the Tuscan Luigi Boccherini who lived in Spain and died and was buried in Madrid (Spain )ua-cam.com/video/6CEJkj34fbU/v-deo.html

I had never heard Maestro Boccerini before encountering his music in the soundtrack of Master and Commander, with Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin dueting on the beautiful music. I truly appreciate this video for giving context for what I'm hearing. The modesty on the part of the Maestro adds to the amazement and delight!
Before I heard this wonderful version, I don't like some parts of it so much. Now I understand... 😉😊 Thank You so much! Heartly greetings from Austria 🤗💫

it is, you need to come here and see it with your own eyes, Spain was the ruler of the world once during centuries, Spain is not a 3th world contry, is not like central or south America, Spain is Europe, come and see it

Il n'était pas employé par le roi mais par son frère le "infante Don Luis". En outre, il n'est pas décédé das la pauvreté.
The three composers I'd most like to share a drink with are Signori Boccherini, Vivaldi and Mozart.

This looks like the 1980s, so recorded under the USSR ?
