No offense, but you make every mic sound great. I can't tell the difference between a $50 mic and a $1000 mic with you. Kudos though. LOL
I was thinking the same thing :(
Haha so true. Maybe a 2$ mini Fisher-Price Mic can destroy that perfect voice :)
He always says your space is more important than any mic!
I think that Lewitt is a real winner at that price.
Mike, both are great and very smooth. I do feel the Rode has less high end for that "broadcast" style sound. The Lewitt whilst similar does cut through the top end with clarity without screaming at you. I enjoyed this very much. Thanks.
oh wow i love the lewitt! i'm starting to become a fanboy of theirs. The treble on it is so smooth, and the bass is very focused. Maybe not as great of a voiceover mic as the procaster but man i think it'd be a great sm7b budget alternative for singing vocals.
Someone who photoshops the pop filter in the thumbnail, so that you can see the writing behind it, deserves a big like :) And of course the video is great as usual!
What a great observation Julian 😇👌 I'm a huge fan of yours.
Mike I can’t describe how your voice wraps my attention. Every time I see your name on a nosleep story I know I won’t be able to stop listening even for a second. So glad that you have a UA-cam so I can hear even more from you. Keep up the awesome work my friend!
The popfilter on the Rode looks like a BSW RePop.
I use the 550DM on stage with my band, its awesome. And sturdy, and it doesnt cost you a fortune. Lewitt good job.
I bought 550 after this video and I love it.
@@scooba789 It's decent but ironically I feel like SM58 is better after many hours with 550. :)
I do hear a strong proximity effect on the Lewitt, at least compared to the Rode. But to be fair you're an inch further away from the Rode because of the pop filter. And it still pops even with the pop filter. The Lewitt makes out pretty well in this comparison.
I knew that this video will come! Thanks Mike for taking my request! :)
That looks like the pop filter for the Electrovoice mics. I have an RE320 that I use for broadcasting purposes and I have that pop filter for it. I searched and searched and that was the only one I was able to find for them.
Not a real surprise, the Procaster is an announcer mic, the Lewitt a typical vocal mic. Apples and oranges in a way, their frequency responses are tweaked differently. Where something like the Procaster has a bass bump in the frequency response for that _phat radio voice_ (which in this case may be too much of a good thing), vocal mics tend to have reduced level in this area for better clarity, no matter what manufacturer. It would be interesting to hear the Lewitt next to an SM58, Sennheiser e835 or e9xx or other typical vocal mics.
there's a significant difference in sound with and without the foam.
Lewitt is surprisingly good for 120 bucks
Hi Mike. I have the Rode and the Lewitt is on backorder. Damned supply chain issues of 2022. Can't wait to try it. I have the Lewitt LCT 220 and love it. Thanks for the great videos.
The pop filter on the Rode Procaster is a BSW REPOP. It is intended for an RE20 or RE320 and sells for $59. I have a couple and use them with my RE20 and RE320. They're nice and look good on camera. So, nice for Podcasters posting to UA-cam.
That rode Microphone has gone up in price a lot since I bought mine. I bought mine for AUD$150 (USD$108) in June. The price now is AUD$250 (USD$180).
Bought the Lewitt today.. they should let you keep it... Good Video..
This convinced me to buy the Lewitt for podcasting. Great sound at a great price. I've just tried it with a PreSonus 24C, & yeah, I’ll probably be buying a Fethead or HD-1 soon.
I have a Procaster and that boominess you mentioned is exactly the reason it stays in the drawer and doesn't get used so much! Its really apparent in my voice and makes it harder to listen to. A shame, because I like its other characteristics.
I tried a few EQ options and yes, cutting it in the range you mentioned did help a bit. But in the end (as I wanted this for live broadcasts) it was much simpler to use a mic that didn't have these issues.
If they only loaned you the microphone then, no, it's not sponsored content. If they paid you or gave you another form of compensation then yes it is sponsored content.
How do you think the Lewitt stands up to the Like of the Shure SM58? That feels like it would be the direct competitor at the price point.
The beginning got me!!! Was wondering what happened to the sound lol!
I find that Rode offers a little more on the high end frequency wise, I could see why some people may not like that especially if they're prone to harsh sibilance in their voice, but I think it would pair up great with someone with a lower voice.
The less expensive 250 has a crispier sound and higher frequency response
Lewitt sounds clear. But I wonder why they put so many of those quality standard markings 😂
im interested to see your video opinion about the Rode PodMic.
Have you ever considered doing any audio post production on these videos? I've watched several today and your average levels all seem to be around -27 to -30 LUFS. I find myself maxing out the volume on the player and reaching for the volume on my amplifier. I realise that you want to keep the audio as natural as possible but you're making it difficult to hear - some light limiting would do wonders.
Hey Mike, if you weren’t paid money to promote a product, I wouldn’t mark it as “Includes a Paid Promotion”. Great video as always. I have been rocking an SM7B for a few years, and probably won’t be changing, but watch every video that comes out anyway...
wow my volume is at 80% im usually around 25 these mic really are quiet.
Love the Videos Mike. Can i make a request? How to sound dampen or insulate a room from echos and random noises for someone just starting out but cant build a booth?
Mike, what pop filter are you using on that Procaster?
Thanks!
Поищи вот этот вариант "On-Stage PBPM-JBH Pop Blocker for Rode PodMic Microphone" and "RoXdon Metal Pop Filter for Rode Podcaster"
BSW USA selles those pop filters and I believe the Procaster and the EV re320 use one model and the EV re27 and Heil PR40 share another model.
Posted this to Reddit's /r/Podcasting subreddit.

Every the ad says it is!
I really like the small pop filter on that microphone. Trying to find a 3rd party one i can buy.
Damn. Didn’t get first post because I was trying to record something amazing.
Doing the Lord's work, I see... 👍
Mike, aside from your experience with equipment, environment and technique, have you received speech coaching? I rarely hear you say "uhm, well, like," etc; you know, the various ways people try to keep their audience engaged while they search for words. Or are you a natural when it comes to 'organic' speech?
I'm a baritone-bass and always looking for a mic that doesn't make me sound like Mickey Mouse. Putting stock in YT reviews is difficult because many mic reviews are by a soy boy or female emo type where nearly every mic sounds good because they're boosted from 2kHz and up. Nice to hear a voice similar to mine review some mics. Will check out the rest of your vids. Thanks.
I’d like to hear your review of an
AKG 414 and an AKG C12.
When I am not looking at your handsome face and just listening, I cannot tell which is which. Lewitt seems to be the best quality for the price. I will sell all my mics and get a few the 440 models. The best part is it includes the holder, filter and excellent package for under $300. Plus, I love the look of Lewitt.
I think the procaster sounds more full!
Look forward for the review of BEHRINGER C-4 condenser mic😉👌🏾🆒
is that just the microphone? or are you running that through something like voice meeter?
The Rhode is nice, I use the N2 and another mic I found I like, well probably isn't considered a professional mic persè is the Zoom H2n, the clarity on the H2n blew me away!
Just out of curiosity, I wonder why Rhode never made a clown nose for their mic's. 🤔
Thanks for another informative video. ~Karen🌹
Hi They do now it is the WS2
Thanks Dave
I have the RODE as well... I have about 6 Mics and the RODE Procaster has a very hollow sound.
My voice over powers the mic with too much Gain more than most mics
That makes sense as the Procaster has an upper bass bump in frequency response where typical vocal mics generally output somewhat reduced level, and your voice is likely to have a good bit of energy down there. So in all likelihood you are getting higher levels out of the mic, accordingly making it easier to clip your recording chain.
It goes without saying that you'd rather be going easy on the gain and boosting in post if need be.
I really would love to see your thoughts on rode pod mid Mike!
I paid just 150 Euro for my new Procaster :)
And how is the microphone after 5months?
@@ertugrul.4894 Its absolutly amazing with my Audient iD14. Sry for the late answere
Brosfight doesnt matter, did u bought a preamp or a fethead?
Brosfight any cloudbooster or fethead?
@@Rogeras32 Nope its still loud enough for everything
Have anybody else noticed that Mike said "condenser" instead of "dynamic"at 10:46?
BJ, could you recommend a mic for a noisy household, untreated living room with kids in it, but I make tutorial vids? i do alot of talking in them like this video here. oh, and I don't wanna spend much, trying to stick to $100 or less. I was looking at the XM8500, shure sm58, and some other stuff like that.
10:45 Condenser? Isn't the Lewitt a Dynamic mic?
Yes. They're both dynas.
the soud in the video is very low and I dont understand you
Hi, whats the name of the pop filter on the procaster? Thnx!
SO apparently the procaster has less handling noise?? Is that true??
One is a Australian and the other is Austrian.
That is a l of a difference!
Man, I love you, coz you're crazy
Yes, what pop filter is that on the Rode?
It's the BSW RePop
it does not make is a sponsor if you have to send it back.
Does the lewitt 550 have on/off switch ??
They have 2 versions. Switch and switchless
10:40 Whoops - dynamic, not condenser.
✨ Brother which Mic will be good blue yeti or astron origin
i'd take the origin
Origin. The Yeti is a toy compared to it.
🔥Brother which software did you use for audio editing🔥✨✨
He uses reaper.
the lewitt is Not a Condenser mic.
no offence but all your videos are too quiet.
by the way,.. i do wanna give you some (5) coffee, but i don't have a paypal account
one is Australian and the other is Austrian.
you could have removed that ugly sticker... just sayin ;)
I have Rode Podcaster (very similar to Procaster) and I have to make a statement: it is a really bad mic. Terrible plosives. Positioning changes sound dramatically. Go with Lewitt mics or SE Electronics V7 mic. Avoid Rode mics at any cost.
The Podcaster is a black sheep, the rest of the Rode line is really excellent (except the NTG2)
Podcaster is an ubs mic.. :(
Podcaster and Procaster are NO the same mics..
You're not funny dude. Go straight to the point. Plus, speak louder, and not to yourself.
