    Took you 2 and a half minutes to get to the point for a review. But once you got to the point it was good 👌

    It's the same price of a full pad though, hardly priced accordingly. I'd pay $80 for something like this not $165 as their MSRP. What's the point if you have to have 2 pads if you want to carry multiple bikes.

    • @TheOutsiderMTB
      @TheOutsiderMTB  4 роки тому +1

      Yup - I sed it a lot when I rode mainly solo and didn't want the full pad on all the time. It was a good option, but the $$ is a good point.

    I have 4 of these. They are great! They were my only option for my 2001 Toyota Tacoma as the bed is not very deep or wide. My truck didn't need the handle bar strap because the tail gate is short enough to allow the tires to rest on the bumper. It is a great product that doesn't take up much space and buying two of them doesn't cost much more than a single one. They also do not cover your tail gate latch are faster to setup and they do not cover your back up camera if you have one.
    Another useful feature of these is that they can be tossed into your bike bag for trips that require you to get on a plane. Once you are at your destination you can rent any pickup truck and they will preform as expected. Great review, I have had mine for a year and they are awesome.

    Thanks for your videos man! Every time I check out your videos it inspires me. I have a newer F-150 and not the "thin" railing on the tailgate so this won't fit my truck.

    Very good review. I have looked at buying this when it first came out. More often than not, I only transport one bike which is why I have kept deliberating purchasing this. The price is just not realistic for me to pull the trigger. I bought (at a garage sale for less than $20) a Equipment Mat (for treadmills, rowers etc..) that I lay over my tailgate, and then lay a soft yoga mat over it, when transporting my bike. I also have friends that lay down a old Rubber Floor mat, then place the yoga mat on top. This way works great, as we have drove thousands of miles with no issues, the bike stays perfectly in place, and the mats only take up a few feet of space on the tailgate.

    cant do that with my trek with the knock block headset. at least I think I cant. guess ill just keep using a towel and pull strap. front tire touches the tailgate a bit. but driven cross country with no issues. a little goo gone to take off a scuff if it happens. anywho, enjoy the channel.

    My bike just fits in the bed of the truck... barely. A large frame or a 29r probably wouldn't though.

  • @shawnbowen6833
    @shawnbowen6833 5 років тому +3

    For the price I'd say it's a hard pass. I guess itd be ok if your only ever going to have 1 bike only. My yakima cover was cheaper, can fit 5 or 6 bikes and only has 1 strap to secure the bike to the tailgate and they do not move at all. No need to strap the bars to the frame to keep them from moving. And my cover uses 3 straps to attach to the gate itself. Takes all of 1 minute and has a velcro flap so you can still get to your tailgate handle. Now I do always have 2 bikes with me because my wife rides also but even if I only had 1 I think I'd still rather just use mine. Even just throwing my bike in the back and not even using the strap to secure the bike, the bike never moves because of the extra padded area the frame rests on.

    • @TheOutsiderMTB
      @TheOutsiderMTB  5 років тому

      Makes sense Shawn. For me personally I grew to like having the pad off for weeks at a time. The pricing is because of the materials used, but I get that’s tough considering the full pad is about the same price.

    It does not work too well with a 2019 Silverado the tailgate has a fat lip which doesn’t allow a proper fit. It will do the job just doesn’t fit as well as other model trucks. Just in case anyone is wondering.

    its really cool and minimalistic however how tf are they going to make that more expensive than the full diaper lol thats just really dumb. No way that little strap costs more to make than a full diaper one also. I just think that's going to be the downfall of the bomber strap unless someone comes out with a cheaper one.
