Thomas Merton has gotten some bad press lately, primarily from traditionalist Catholics who object to Merton’s interest in Buddhism during the ‘60s. Though I consider myself an orthodox Catholic, I nonetheless admire Merton. Several years ago, now-Bishop Robert Barron visited the monastery where Merton had lived. While there, he spoke with the brother who had worked as Merton’s secretary. Having heard the stories circulating about Merton’s supposed desire to leave the Church and embrace Buddhism, this brother told Barron, “Would you please let anyone who’s interested know that Thomas Merton died a faithful Catholic and a monk of the Abbey of Gethsemani?”

According to Catholic teaching, we believe that Jesus gave the authority to forgive sins to His Apostles and priests through the sacrament of reconciliation, where they can forgive sins in His name. @@StoriesofGrace7 You are correct in your ascertains. There are no 'gods' however who can forgive the sins of mankind. This can only happen through God the Father, The Son Christ Jesus and The Holy Spirit. I am the way, the truth and the Life no one comes to the father but through me.
I find AI use in videos extremely annoying. The speech algorithm results in weird pauses and stressed words. Some of the pictures in this video were real. The AI ones were strange.

The Catholic Church is considered the true Church because its teachings originate from Jesus Christ, passed down through the Apostles, and have been preserved continuously for over 2000 years.
