    Love, love, love your informative vlogs and other skin care videos. I have learned so much and am so much better at using sunscreen and in general, taking care of my skin (finally) at age 57! I've been watching your vlogs in order the last couple of months for fun & have seen your number of subscribers raise by about a thousand every week! I think we are all excited for you. Well deserved Dr. Dray!

    You should do a video on personal stuff like Q&As ppl ask about your personal life. Of course if it's not too personal. Just a little more about yourself for the newbies (like me!) 😌

    Thanks to you, Dr. Dray, my skin is looking so much better since I’ve started using CeraVe products. I’m currently using the CeraVe AM moisturizing sunscreen and the CeraVe PM moisturizing lotion as well as the CeraVe Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum and their hydrating facial cleanser. Another product I’m using and enjoying that you recommended is the Albolene moisturizing cleanser (I use this one as the first step in my cleansing routine). I love how all of these products are affordable and easy to find in the drug store or at Walmart. Switching to fragrance free products per your recommendation has done wonders for decreasing the redness in my skin. Thank you for all that you do, Dr. Dray! ❤️

    By the way, cosmetic cleansing oils usually are formulated with an oil-soluble emulsifier in order to be rinsed easily. When you add water to the oil on to your face, the emulsion forms up and makes the oil easier to be removed.

    Yes library app Overdrive is easy to use now. Also I got a sample of Elta md. Had full face makeup on. Put Elta on on top. Darkened my makeup. So that was a bomb. Today I have sunscreen, BB cream, and when it's reapply-thirty I'll try my second sample of Elta md. See how that does. Yay I'm enjoying your candle shopping. I like Lemony or coconuty beach smells as well as cookie and cupcake smells.

    So glad you are trying the Korean products. I've been doing the double cleanse for over a year now and loving it. I really find this helps taking off all makeup and stubborn zinc sunscreens before putting on all my overnight potions. Happy to see you giving it a try! I haven't tried Hado Labo but am willing to give it a go. I currently use Banila Clean it Zero for the first oil step and then follow it with a NeoGen Green Tea Foaming cleanser. Best combo for my skin!

    I'm amazed and inspired by how dedicated and sincere you are to your viewers, not only addressing questions in your videos but the comment section too! If you have time, I've got a salicylic acid question: I see cleansers, facial pads, moisturizers and spot treatments containing SA. How would you rank them from most to least useful?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +2

      Thank you so much!! I prefer SA cleansers, as SA left on the skin tends to lend itself to irritation after awhile. It is effective in a wash form. The pads are okay, but very drying. I am not a fan of moisturizers (for the face) containing SA as it can be swept up to the eyes more readily and be problematic. HOpe you are having a great day :)

    Dr. Dray - the oil cleanser is emulsifying. I don't think you need to worry about the oils in it breaking out your skin. They are fractionated and mixed with something that makes them emulsify with water. After you apply the cleansing oil, put some warm water on your hands, then rub your face. The oil turns into a milky fluid, which is then rinsed away.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

      Yeah lots of folks are cluing me in to this emulsifier property. I like this approach for removing eyemakeup. Hope you are having a great week!

    Hi Dr Gray,I am currently updating my skincare routine and find your vlog very informative. Been fine using chemical sunscreen for years, but my eyes started to swell and tear up more frequently lately. So I switched to physical sunscreen last week, and hallelujah, my eyes are just fine now!!! Heh, and I only did it because you said better physical sunscreen provides better protection.😊 Just ordered some Eltamd from dermstore and got 20% off for first order.
    I also got a bunch of Hado Labo, Mizon and Cosrx products recently. I am liking the Hado Labo hyauronic lotion/toner but might switch to the thicker plumping gel. So far though, my favorites are the Cosrx products, especially the Good Morning gel cleanser and the oil-free moisturizing lotion. There's no piling when I use the lotion with a physical sunscreen. Moreover, Cosrx products are not as heavily scented as the other Korean ones.
    Well, have a good day, Dr Dray. And thanks for doing this. You have been so helpful.

    This is really fun and interesting, watching your Asian skin care haul, your using these Asian products and hearing your opinions of them. But one of your comments below, about the cotton pads: "hahah...I haven't yet figured out exactly what to do with them...I think I am supposed to pat something on with them though." had me LMAO again! I can just picture you in your bathroom, picking up these pads and looking at them like, "what the heck??" lol!!! You are SO FUNNY! As for candles and scented oils, etc., anything by Harry Slatkin is the best I've ever experienced! He used to sell at QVC and Bath and Body Works and then stopped, but he's back at QVC! They have advance orders right now, reserve yours now, that will ship Sept.15. It's a set of 2-18 oz. wax Scented Deluxe 3 wick candles in clear glass vessels with silver color metal lids. There are 8 different pairs to choose from and the sale price is $39.18 per pair. That may seem pricey, but as I understand it, he is considered one of the "noses" in the fragrance industry. And if you don't like the candles/scents, you have 30 days to return them. I must sound like I work for them, but I don't. I just find his fragrances amazingly true to their names. The item number is H211394. Hope I got all this info correct! Rita

    I just bought this cerave facial moisturizing lotion SPF 30 and started using it and really liked it until I started developing some red spots on my face. I don't Think I can tolerate combination sunscreens because the same has happened with a different combination sunscreen I tried as well as combination body sunscreens, or anything that has chemical filters in it on my body. Specifically my neck and décolletage area. I get the red spots, like reddened whiteheads, and itchiness. I would really love to use this one! I really enjoy how moisturizing it is and I can use it as a moisturizer and spf. I did find the (newer formula) Derma e face spf and love it! It's just zinc and it doesn't leave any cast at all or residue, no pilling or stickiness and spreads so beautifully. The original was a bit difficult to work with and spread, plus it pilled. This spf does contains some antioxidants but no irritating acne ingredients! Do recommend for those who cannot use the chemical filters!

    I think for oil cleansers, you need to apply to dry skin, then add a bit water for it to emulsify, repeat until it thoroughly suds, then rinse it off. The principle is to dissolve makeup in oil components and surfactants bind the oil molecules to water molecules so that when rinsing off, oil solubles can be taken away by water. Incomplete emulsification or incorrect formulation leaves oil residues thus we need a second step cleansing.
    The whole process is designed for heave makeup removal. I personally think it's too aggressive for daily use. It removes too much sebum and disrupts acid mantle and, if not conducted correctly, leaves oily residue that can easily clog pores. Been there, tried that, but not a big fan.
    I'm going to give the Japanese milky lotion another whirl. It's been in my fridge for months. I'm thinking of pairing it up with CeraVe PM. Look forward to hearing your thoughts and how you incorporate it in the routine.
    Thank you and have a nice day :)

    • @DrDrayzday

      Derrick Wang my oil cleanser experience is to apply like you say to. Mine doesn't suds, but definitely becomes milky-like. A little goes a long way :)

    • @adrianw.8700
      @adrianw.8700 7 років тому

      That's even better. No suds means fewer surfactants, so more gentle and less drying. Thanks for sharing :)

    you are supposed to rinse off the oil cleanser first before you go in with the other cleanser ~ because the idea is to cleanse twice if you hv heavy makeup on. But in your case, even the oil cleanser alone is good enough🤔 hope it helps :)

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

      Thanks! By getting in the shower immediately after applying the oil, I think I am more or less essentially doing this. I am pretty conservative with the oil since I don't really have much in the way of makeup to remove, lol. HOpe you are having a great week!

    I just stumbled across your channel this morning and have been watching your videos throughout the day! I'm really enjoying them and I think that it's wonderful of you to share your knowledge with us! That being said, I have a question- I have had extremely oily skin since about the age of 13 (now 20) and no matter what I do, it remains the same. What could be the cause of this? High androgen levels, maybe? Blood tests have shown that mine are a bit high. And also, how would you treat it? Thank you so much in advance!

    So, did you buy any of those candles? I love the wooden wick candles. Right now I am enjoying a random 3 wick lavender jar candle I got at TJ Maxx. Lavender is my jam. Actually I love herbs de provence. Calendula has a candle, hand soap and hand lotion in that scent. Love it.
    I would love to see a video on dealing with dry hands and feet, especially callouses and cuticles. Oh, that could be the title! lol

    Does that Hada Labo skin plumping gel contain fragrance? I've tried the Neutrogena one (the gel) and it is irritating my face. I'm guessing that it is the fragrance. It seems the older I get, the more sensitive my skin gets. Continue to love and learn so much from your videos. :)

    Well hey Doc! Hope you're day is going good. I was wondering if you could do a video that's more in depth on your beautiful mother's skin care. Being that I am a more mature woman myself I'd love to see what products etc that she uses. Also, since Asian skin care seems to be all the rage right now what are your thoughts on "cupping"? I know some ppl seem to really like it and swear by its anti aging effect, but I'd love to hear your opinion and possibly a video on it. Like is it good or bad to do for wrinkles and sagging, bagging skin. Thank you so much and I absolutely love your videos and am grateful to have found you! 😊

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому

      "Mature skin" is a phrase that needs to die, lol. Sunscreen and moisturizer...that is all is needed and all my mother uses. Cupping is not part of dermatology...but we see a fair bit of post-cupping suction purpura (bruising).

      Thanks for sharing this Ms Michelle. Just checked it out...looks like olive oil, vitamin E oil, and rosemary leaf oil, whereas I think Hada Labo's is olive oil and jojoba oil (no rosemary, but not sure). The DHC one is $28 (on their site) and Hada Labo is around $11.50. Hope you are having a great day :)

    I'm new to your channel and am enjoying it a lot! I was wondering if a video about laundry detergent would be relevant. My daughter suffers from exema and we have found that her flare ups can coninside with new laundry detergents we have used. If you have are any tips or ingredients we should be avoiding other than perfumes, I'd love to know. I use Crystal Wash balls (reusable up to 2000 washes--appeals to my cheapness, too), but my husband likes his wash to smell "fresh" rather than being unscented. My friend sells natural laundry detergent with essential oils, but I'm not convinced it won't cause an exema flare up.

    Great vlog as always! I'm super excited to see the one you have on favorite Cerave products because l love those products and use quite a few. I'm curious, you mentioned a few times you dislike Cetaphil. Are there certain ingredients in it we should avoid? If so I'd love to be aware so I can skip those products.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

      I don't dislike cetaphil per se....in my Orlando vlogs I share my experience with the creamy face wash. Most cetaphil products are decent, just some are sort of less than. I prefer cerave, vanicream, and eucerin products for dry skin on the body. I haven't tried the cerave purple label products which contain their retinol, because I don't think cosmecutical retinols are worth it when I have differin.

    Is it terrible to use sunflower oil as a makeup remover before I cleanse with Neutrogena Acne Cleanser? I've read that sunflower is really gentle so I picked some up. Thing is it's from the grocery aisle haha... 🙊 I love oil cleansing because I wear waterproof mascara and to me with the oil it's no different removing waterproof and non waterproof!
    Also I know there isn't any medical data proving this, but I 100% am on board in the belief that Biotin causes cystic acne in some people. I was getting 3 cysts on my face at a time. I stopped and immediately my skin cleared up and I haven't had one in 2 weeks. What do you think of prenatals for hair growth?

    I just bought a bag of lentils and this reminds me I need to cook them! It sounds yummy on salad. I'm looking forward to the CeraVe video, love the products. I don't know if you're interested in addressing this, but buying tretinoin from India without a prescription is popular on You Tube. Insurance doesn't cover it for most people and US prices can be $200 a tube compared to $5 a tube from other countries. People claim that the products are legitimate from the most popular sites, Alldaychemist and ReliableRX. I guess the people buying viagra would know for sure, lol. I confess I tried it for a year and didn't feel I had any results. I recently switched to Differin and love it. I realize it should be done under a doctor's care, but I was wondering if tretinoin obtained in the US was more effective. Thanks for the great content, as always!
