@@mewpsy1000 nope, he was just strumming while they took pictures so they felt more genuine. They'd pick the best ones for use later but it wasn't meant to be a performance lol. Just happened.

This is commitment plain and simple. People wondering what he was doing for 11 years, learning to play this guitar like nobodys business is the answer. Huge respect for this man
Lol to be honest he wasnt only learning the guitar, he was having some fun whilst at it, i remember when I was desperate for his new material i would google "D'angelo 2008" they would show results of his mugshots and stories about how he smashed his Hummer and how he was caught with a prostitute...LOL but listen this here is my favourite musician of all time, ahead of the likes of Jimmy Hedriks, Prince, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye etc etc...thats how seriously I rate this man, LEGEND.

He took lessons in Virginia at this little guitar shop, I forget the name of it. It’s here he met Sharkey who later became his guitarist.

If Prince was God, D is unquestionably Jesus. There's just no way around it. To me. D can NEVER EVERR be greater or better than Prince. But he DOES do great with what he does.

Yep his name is robert chirstgau a NOTORIOUSLY harsh critic , he saw D'angelo in 2000 in los angeles at some venue during his voodoo tour and equated it to a holy experience lol he said he's never to this day seen so much stage presence , musicanship or energy before at one show and at one time he also considers D'angelo "uncoverable" and "R&B Jesus" or in other words D is a cold blooded mothafucka
@@amiopty99 All of those things you said...PLUS they are rooted in tradition. They know all the music that led them to where they are and then took that expansive knowledge and created their thing. I love this video and I love D'Angelo. And Prince. It breaks my heart that we don't have a society that nurtures that kind of genius anymore.
