Great Interview! Thank you for asking about the manual transmission. I love the car. But, disappointed that there is no manual transmission.

The guy is the coolest engineer ever. The way he puts himself out there to journalists and Leno's show and on the forum is just incredible. I'm sure he has a thousand things he could be doing but he's taking time to chat. Awesome.

CE T Juechter has done a number of interviews. This is, by far, the most informative yet. He got to talk uninterrupted and didn't dodge anything other than the Z06 and ZR1 issue, but his smile spoke volumes. Really well done!

I previously built a Factory Five cobra and drove it for 47,000 miles, thus getting my need for a thundering V8 out of my system (at least temporarily). I then switched to a Porsche Cayman S 6 cyl manual to get the mid engined scalpel feeling. If I'm still sufficiently ambulatory after this Cayman experience, I'll definitely get a mid engined Corvette. This design/build team has done a fabulous job of creating an affordable supercar. Well done GM/Corvette team!

Great interview. I'm looking forward to the hybrid C8. With the close out panels over the front spindles on the cutaway car, it's been built for a front axle. With space in the tunnel for batteries, it's ready for boost. We might have to give up the front trunk, but an electric motor will be most welcome for instant torque. As a BMW i8 guru, it all makes perfect sense to me that the C8 will definitely be hybrid.

I have ordered a MANUAL 2019 C7 Z06 the last day you could custom order one. Got the car in Sept last year - love it! I think the C7 widebody cars are extremely good looking. Since 2005 I had about 13 Corvettes, currently I have 4. A low mileage rare dual Dunn Heads 95 ZR-1, a 10k miles 2003 anniversary package convertible, a 1970 Stingray convertible and the C7 Z06 - All MANUAL as were all my previous Corvettes. The C8 must be great but when I drive a sportscar it has to give me that manual control feel, I had to have the rush of the heel-and-toe therapy. Yes a DCT is faster, more efficient etc, etc but it is not the same. That kind of 'automation' does not move me, for a racing perspective that is more than justified. I still to own a nice C2 and I think I would go for it first to add to the 4 I already have. As for mid engine fun, I would prefer a Superformance GT40 with a proper manual transmission than a C8 with a DCT. That being said, the C8 Z06 must be amazing, but... no manuals even tough GM has a patent for a fly by wire clutch system. Heck, even Gordon Murray understands the importance of driving pleasure so his T.50 is a proper manual car as was the McLaren F1. But, I respect other people's different opinions and taste. I love Corvettes which is why I had owned so many, there are other cars I want to have as well and the C8 is not my priority. Love my new 2019 Z06 though. Also, for the entire C7 run, about 27% were manuals. But, during the same time, the entire 911 production of all models was about the same as the total production of C7 manuals - There is a market. Porsche will still give you options for manuals. Tadge, please fix that! You can do it! Always nice watching you. Cheers.

I still have not seen one in person. I checked within a 50 mile radius of Atlanta, Ga and there are no Chevrolet dealers that have one in their inventory. One dealer told me when they do get one in it sells within a week. I have been looking out on the roads and have not seen one either. Where are they all at?

There is only one answer for the question. Unfortunately manufacturer should follow what the demand is and unfortunately the demand is not for a better driving feeling but just a better 0-60. I am sure you can see on UA-cam people comparing cars they always do a drag race which is something stupid. A drag race winner is someone with a faster car and almost no idea how to drive a car. So car makers which know that a manual gearbox can not handle this much of power and it is not as fast as a dual clutch so they just ignore the feeling and make their car faster.

That's a good thing that no automatic is offered. Auto trans makes it faster, more efficient and helps you drive better, safer and faster, win win for all.

I have a better understanding of the no manual rational but do remain disappointed. Bought a Porsche instead. Spent more though.
