    I have the Nomos Club 703 (12217) which is a 36mm. I love it! Fits my 7" wrist perfectly. It's a hand wind, but only needs to be wound every other day, and it is very accurate. It's the one that I wear the most out of my collection.

    I definitely feel you on the size conundrum. I have a Nomos club that is 38.5 mm. It is the original club with whitish, silver dial, reddish, orange hands. Only a watch collector/psychopath would appreciate what I’m going to say next.… The watch never really did anything for me, until one day it did. I randomly was watching a watch gecko UA-cam video about that watch, and different strap options, even though I didn’t really like the watch, because why wouldn’t I do that at 1 AM. Anyway, then I became obsessed with it, and come to find out that that size had been discontinued. So I researched all the authorized dealers of Nomos in the United States, which was nearly 50, and ended up calling all of them to see if they had any used models, because there weren’t any online that I could find. About three from the end of my list, I found one. Sane behavior?… Probably not. This hobby is a lot like being a serial killer… Rarely do you ever run into another one in person, and everybody else on earth doesn’t understand why you would do what you do. What in God’s name is the point of this unhinged comment, you might ask? …..38.5 mm is the perfect size… For me.

    I opted for the Blue Longines Spirit 37 over the small club and I'm glad I did. Perfect for any wrist around 6.5 in, brushed case/bracelet with nice, slender accents of polishing throughout. Light, super legible, chronometer certified.
    Polished center link oyster bracelet on the Nomos was also a deal breaker for me, that and I'm not a fan of small seconds on anything but dress watches.

    I like quite a number of Nomos designs. The price difference for the display back versions is ridiculous -- unless they save labor costs by not finishing the movement on the solid casebacks. Anyone know? Other pet peeves -- everyone (or at least nearly everyone) complains about the abnormally long lugs. Nomos turns a deaf ear to that customer feedback. On top of that, many of Nomos' recent releases have had large dials, making the long lug issue worse. Some of Nomos' cool innovations, like the colored date indicator on the perimeter, are only available on their >40mm large watches. Come on Nomos, go back to your roots and show some love to those of us who prefer smaller dials and lugs that aren't disproportionally long.

    • @TheGrenadier97
      @TheGrenadier97 Рік тому +11

      Agree. The benefit of smaller cases on smaller wrists is totally lost when the lug-to-lug distance - surely the most important dimension - is too large.

      I think they make a lot in those sizes. Here's a link of Nomos watches filtered to "medium", which seems to be 35-37mm. nomos-glashuette.com/en/watchfinder-377?o=9&f=141

      their roots have always been long lugs tho. and tbh i (in the minority) like them LMAO
      as to the colored date indicator, i don't think they can put those on a smaller watch bc then it becomes kinda illegible.

    I was on the verge with this watch, but end up buying the Longines Spirit 37mm. I own a 35mm Nomos Metro Neomatik, which I believe that is the best looking watch in the Nomos lineup. By the way, always a pleasure your videos, congrats

    Something about this piece really appeals to me, and honestly I had been anticipating your review of it. I also have a 7-inch wrist and so I was a little disappointed you didn't immediately love it, but with the quick release lugs, I think I am going to give this a go on a silicone strap. Just have to wait for it to come in to my AD. Thanks again for the review -- fantastic as usual.

    I think that the size is great - I was never a fan of the trend of large watches. Ended up trading in my Tudor Pelagos for that reason a while back. I also have a 7 inch wrist and found the 42mm Club Sport much too large when I visited a local retailer. I had been waiting for a smaller club sport, so when they released the 37mm I ordered the petrol in October as a treat for finishing my PhD. Thanks for the video as it confirmed that I made the right decision!

    essential this is an "impossible" watch. I say that because Omega cannot make an automatic sports watch less than 15mm thick. Few companies can make a watch under 40mm. None can make them water resistant beyond splash-proof, if you combine those first 2 assets in the same watch. AND Nomos can do make the watch essentially a dive-depth watch, at 8mm with a display back. I think you are under-rating them a bit....just saying.....

  • @bbarone

    $400 for a caseback is a lot. But then again, Omega charges $100 for a single bracelet link -- and Rolex charges nearly $1,000 for replacement casebacks.

    Club Campus 36mm owner here. I got the one with the champagney/grey/silvery dial (which is somehow neither matte nor shiny, yet both at hte same time) with the grey/pink numerals and orange second hand. The second hand is the only thing that I actually know the correct word to describe its colour. It's a gorgeous watch, SO much more impressive in person than it looked in photos. I was coming through Frankfurt airport on a trip and they had one in stock. After thinking I wanted one but being unsure on the blue/pink/silver dial and which size, seeing this thing in person was an easy decision. Although I did get hit with the price increase but howsoever. The long lugs work really well on my 6.5" wrist.

    The long lug complaints are back. Shocker.
    Here’s the solution: Ignore the diameter and size the watch based on the LTL. In terms of wrist presence, the lugs will make up for the smaller diameter.
    If you don’t like the long lugs, too bad. They are a Nomos signature. The brand isn’t ditching them. If they went with shorter lugs you’d end up with a nice, but generic watch. I’ll take the long lugs every day of the week.

  • @calvinchann1996

    Similar situation for me with regards to NOMOS. I want one but I don’t have one. My ideal size would be 39mm but my issue is with the size of the lugs. I want to actually try one before I buy one and there’s nowhere in my country that sells them.

    • @KennyVo120
      @KennyVo120 Рік тому +4

      The smaller Murph is nice, but for a $400 price increase over what is effectively a no-date Khaki Field with a new dial is sort of off-putting. That and they took out the morse on the seconds probably because it was unfeasible. Love Interstellar though.

    • @brafman1

      From the quick review I saw this morning it also looks like Hamilton still has no AR coating on its crystals. That's really unacceptable given how common AR is even amongst much cheaper microbrand watches, and given what a difference it makes to the every day use of the watch.

    I love the 37mm, this one looks perfect on your wrist. But it’s way too polished for my lifestyle. I’m not even rough with watches but polished surfaces become “omnidirectionally brushed” over a pretty short time. Not sure if others have better luck. Still, it’s really, really appealing.

  • @RedwoodAggie
    @RedwoodAggie Рік тому +1

    I think this is a great size for quite a few number of people, and the green and blue dials are beautiful. Aside from the complaints you mentioned (pins, polished clasp), I don't really see any issues. However, my 7-1/4" wrist likely deems this size not for me. I've tried on the Longines Spirit 37mm on bracelet, which also has long lugs. While it's not bad, it's just not quite right for me. I'd probably love one of these in 39mm, much like I love the Explorer I in 39mm (R.I.P.), or my 39.5mm Alpinist. I think the price and style makes this 37 and 42mm line competitive with something like the Tudor Black Bay 36/41. Much like with the Tudor though, I find the small too small, and the big a bit bigger than I want to wear. The extra cost to go for a see through case back has me raising my eyebrow. Not that it is extra (sapphire isn't free), but that is a large difference in price. It would be hard to resist seeing that pretty movement though. I hope this line is successful, so they can bring out more color options, and just maybe consider an in between size release in the future.

      @@shoegazer5451 why would I buy this when I could save my money for a Rolex? I would only consider a Nomos once I’ve bought all the big boys first.

    300 meters never meant diving in the ocean 🌊 at 300 meters deep ! A watch water resistant to 30 meters is only rain. Water resistant to 50 meters is only shower and dishes. Never drop the watch in water. Water resistant to 100 meters is for swimming in a pool. Water resistant to 150 and 200 meters is for scuba diving 🤿 Water resistant to 300 meters is for diving maximum 20 meters deep. To dive deeper you need a watch with 500 meters, 600 meters to 1000 meters deep. Than you can dive. And for the decompression diving you need a helium valve on the case of the watch in order to release the air at each decompression step

    Nomos designs are good, but the lug length kills it for me every time. Worse than Longines.

    The big one is clown sized on you. The less massive one looks perfect.

    Usually, camera doesn't do justice to a watch until you see it in person.
    Well... Nomos has the opposite effect.
