    I have always found Nomos so minimalistic, and so I never found them to be worth the price point. These Nomos Club Sport watches, with their beautiful sunburst dial, certainly breaks the mold. This is a Nomos that I would consider buying. My only issue with it is the painted markers. To get that premium feel, and to justify that premium price, applied markers just seem more fitting. In any case, thank you, Britt, for bringing these gorgeous watch to our attention.

    I'm about a year in with the 37mm Petrol, and it has been a great watch to wear and enjoy. It sits flat on the wrist, it's lightweight, it's very comfortable, and the lume is actually very good. I can make adjustments to the bracelet in about 30 seconds when the temperature fluctuates (a frequent occurrence in Ohio), and the DUW-3001 is lovely to stare at when time allows. I also get a ton of compliments on the dial - as you said Britt, Nomos are masters of color! So cool to hear about your enriching trip to Glashutte and just how much these folks love the art of watchmaking 🙌

    I like the new Nomos Kitten. Second favorite is the Club Sport being below the 50 mm lug to lug, which is the magic number for being wearable on a smaller wrist. Very well could be my first Nomos, I've been on the sidelines wanting one for four years now.

    No denying the quality and all that but the design is the biggest factor on if you like and want to wear a watch. I personally don’t dig the lugs, the bracelet, or the clasp and wouldn’t purchase for those reasons. I find it funny that a brand is aware that many of their potential buyers and enthusiasts complain about the lugs, but yet they refuse to do anything about it.

      New to watches and I am really digging this Nomos brand, what you get for the money is amazing. I am probably going yo buy their light grey Club next year (buying a Longines right now). I have the means to buy a Rolex but unlike my sister who just dropped $15k on one for the name I don’t need to brag to the world that I am successful, I just cannot see ever spending $15k on a watch when there are so many fantastic watches put there like these or others for a fraction of the cost.

    • @oh_io.watches
      @oh_io.watches 9 місяців тому

      I own the 37mm version, and there is nothing subpar about the wearing experience of the bracelet. This watch is every bit as comfortable as a DateJust. Certainly a "glide lock" style micro-adjust system would be an upgrade, but I can't think of other brands at our below this price point offering on-the-fly adjustment - Tudor now has the T-Fit, but their prices have risen a bit higher than Nomos. The clasp is also definitely milled, although I agree scratches show easily on its polished surface. I just wanted to address those points, as I see overall you are praising Nomos which they absolutely deserve. As far as the lugs, that is part of their design language and is easily accounted for by going with a smaller case size.

      I think I like steel bracelets, especially in hot weather. The trouble is I need half links and tool-less microadjust. I don’t remember that problem when I was younger and slimmer but my wrist really varies depending on my temperature. I can't share your enthusiasm on Nomos. The community has been criticizing the long watch lugs for a long time. Despite the company spokesperson's statements like "we continue to observe this and always keep our customers' wishes in mind," nothing seems to change. I personally believe that textile straps, for example on the Ahoi models, have no place on a watch that costs more than €3000.
    Regarding your last point, I think that political statements have no place in corporate communication. In the ongoing cultural battle, companies like Gillette, Disney, Target, or Budweiser felt the immediate backlash in sales after adopting a woke strategy. For instance, if the new model CLUB SPORT NEOMATIK 39 in TABAC, EMBER, and SMOKE is only showcased on a dark-skinned model, it's challenging for me to imagine how it would look on my arm. My suggestion would be to present the watches with models of various skin tones.

    Saying that you get a lot for the money is definitely right but i sounds like the understatement of the year. These watches are Explorer killers! More sizes, more colors, completely in house just like the Explorer and on top of it all: available! I checked. I could go to two(!) local jewelers, put my money on the table and leave with a gorgeous watch!

    The only things I love about this watch are the dial and the movement.
    The L2L measurements are enormous and the case finish looks like a cheap casio… I dont know…

    I have a club. Lovely watch, I'm sure mine is 38.5mm, it's perfect as a dressy Watch on my 7 inch wrist. I spend hours looking at the open caseback, best looking movement I have.

  • @AlexanderB.

    I specifically like the Club Campus in grey or purple (which is a very toned down shade) and I once wanted to know whether I can pull off a 38 mm on my just under 7 inch wrist and it works fine. But whether the considerable gaps between the spring bar and the watch case are so attractive can be debated. The bracelets on the other hand are kind of an eyesore for me because they are just too shiny, not just the clasp.

    Britt you really need to try out the NOMOS Orion 35mm Pure class and is a true unisex sized watch, I think you will really really love this watch, I picked mine up years ago when Nomos was considerable more affordable. I think I paid around $900 Canadian for an excellent used one. 😊 One last thing never ever stop doing your Patrons singing at the end, it always puts a smile on my face and makes me laugh. ❤

    I'd like to see Nomos do more with the Tangente Duo series. Sternglas, Nordgreen, and others all play in that Bauhaus sandbox. Just give me two hands, no complications, and some fun colors like on the Club Campus.
