Great tips as always dude! I'd strongly recommend switching to control type C, because it sets magic to L1 and Eikon switching to triangle. That way, attacking while charging magic or sword attacks becomes much easier. And you can keep a charged magic attack banked for a clutch dodge with the invincibility frames. Also, while Torgal's Ravage launches grounded enemies, it spikes airborne enemies straight to the ground. You can set up all kinds of extended combos with attacks that change the enemy's position. For instance, Ravage a grounded enemy to launch, juggle with a few magic attacks while charging your flame slash, Phoenix Shift to the enemy, release flame slash to launch higher, juggle with an air combo, enemy step, use a second air combo, Ravage with Torgal to send the enemy to the ground, falling slash into charged magic burst. Of course, you can extend the sequence much longer with various Eikon attacks. This combat system is incredible! If the demo is this cool, it's hard to imagine how much more insane Clive's kit will become in the full game. I can't wait!
Dude that was so informative. I realized during the demo there were so many possibilities and I honestly felt intimidated by the variety, I decided I'll just wait 'til the full game so I can experiment rather than just replay the demo over and over. But this has helped so much 😱
On the next video, could you add that during a stagger you should use fast multi-hit skills/auto-attacks to build up the damage multiplier before you end with your strong skills? I don't see many people do that in streams they just spam whatever is back from cooldown.
@@nickyukvn When an enemy is staggered every hit against them rises the multipler up to 1.5x (they show you the rate as you do hits). When its at 1.5 is when you want to use your massive damage attacks. @@nickyukvn When an enemy is staggered, every time you hit them it makes them take more damage from any further hits. You can see the damage multiplier go up as you hit a staggered enemy. Here’s a useful tip, u can time torgal’s attacks like magic bursts. Doing so will imbue his attacks with fire. This is especially useful for his sic move on d pad up. Enemies can be up in the air for quite a while allowing u to combo easier, you will know when u done in correctly when the precision sic notification pops up. You can do this for ravage too.
Swapping the controls to type c only changes magic from triangle, to l1 instead. Makes everything work so much better, and triangle becomes your eikon cycle. Letts you much easier charge magic and attack

Quick tip. Instead of shooting an enemy with magic after launching them while grounded, it's better to Phoenix Shift to them while they are still airborne for an air combo

You can also Eikon swap at any time that part of the HUD is on screen, which is good for comboing. You don't need to wait for an animation to finish, you can start an animation and swap right away if you wanna combo something. As well, you can continue multi-press combos doing this. Garuda's Gouge maneuver is also a multi-press action. Also, all Eikon abilities give you strong armor. Not hyper armor, but only the heaviest of attacks will break you out of them. Some are meant to be used while getting hit even if they don't block, like Phoenix's second ability. They do not stop damage though unless they explicitly dodge or block so be careful.

Use Garuda, Hold Slam and Magic, jump, release held magic (It's a knockup when released while jumping), garuda pull, release slam to knockup further, auto combo with magic burst and holding slam on third hit to knockup further, Torgal knockup juggle midair, release slam, garuda pull, repeat. HARD AF to get the timing all right, but god DAMN is it satisfying to pull off. Managed to stay midair for a solid few seconds with several small targets being juggled because the aoe on the hits is pretty large and tends to pull in other ai mid combo. Can be further enhanced with Garuda midair knockup ability, but targets tend to die right after. If you find yourself falling, go ahead and release a ground slam. Master the Held Attack, Garuda Pull, and Slam to be able to pull this off at all.
The most important tip I can give you all is to immediately change your control scheme to type B ASAP. This way you'll get the more traditional control like most games have. Especially if you're used to souls games. This will make the circle button your dodge instead of R1 which is just too weird for a dodge. And the attack buttons become R1 and R2. This will also make it much easier to charge attacks while doing other stuff at the same time.
There is a delay when you hit an enemy vs swinging in the air. If you wanna get good at Magic Burst, you have to practice on enemies. I could fire off a full combo in the air but in combat not so much
When you do the special moves on the Titan form that charge if you release in the red section on the indicator and time the release of charge in the red area it does more damage. Great during staggered boss dps.
That's super obvious. Want a not obvious tip? Use garuda o ability on a boss over and over to gain a ton of air height. It'll make a ton of attacks outright miss you. And while your at max height, swap to titan very quickly and use his ground pound attack. It does more damage the higher up in the air you are, and gets rid of charging it completely. Mixed with the previous tip, you can jump way up in the air, and come down like a goddamn meteor for an assload of aoe damage.
2:02 okay this sold the game for me. I wasn't aware you can get the other eikons and I thought you were locked to ifrit - which I thought was super poor. Liking Garuda and titan
Upgrading heatwave also gives it that second projectile. And parrying spells with said upgraded heatwave sends out 3 projectiles. Definitely a must have compared to the other two Phoenix abilities.
Am I the only one that can't figure out the timing with the parry with an attack you get fairly early on? Like the titan shield parry is very easy for me. But I can never seem to get the parry attack down at all.
Not really answering your question here but something I did find is if you charge up your blade first and then land a precision dodge, you can release the fire blade in that timeslow and land an easier parry. Hopefully what I'm saying makes sence. This only works if u hold down the square button through the dodge and also while dodging a melee attack.
This is intentional, the normal attack parry is both always available and highly rewarding, so the timing is intentionally strict compared to eikon parries.
Yeah I had the same problem, the window for normal attack parry feels much more strict. The titan perfect guard is def more forgiving and easier to use
Great video. I learned a few things. One thing to note, Controller set up C makes it so much easier to do magic combos and charging since it requires L1 instead of Triangle.
The charged attack combos, for both magic and melee, are the reason i think layout B is superior. For me at least, its much easier to hold say r2, while spamming r1, then it is to hold triangle and spam square
its not step up, its different genre, ff15 is still jrpg true to final fantasy. and ff16 is action game in general, and this depth combat is spice of fighting game 2d, jugling, launcher, air combo and stuff (things that relevant only for expert gamer). as far as the demo shown, there is no tactical at all in ff16. tactical, strategy and "cinematic" magic/skill effect is one of characteristic unique to jrpg. still, i am okay with ff16 though, loved it. but i hope in the future they made ff more like FF7R as the main flag
@@kilikilio5321I disagree, XVI plays and feels way more like a traditional tactical JRPG than FFXV, just because FFXV still had menus in its combat system doesn’t automatically mean it’s closer to being a JRPG, FFXVI is closer to a traditional JRPG even with its full-on action combat than FFXV and even 7R
@@lindsaymonroe567 medieval setting isnt what make rpg = jrpg. but tactical strat, depth lore, usualy founnd in trun based and ffXVI clearly didnt have tactical strat on it, FFXVI just pure DMC. it didnt have cinematic magic / skill effect. over the top ultimate cinematic. a lot of magic/skill showcase + tactical strategy is the main trait of any jrpg. and combine it when to use, and when do not. because like most jrpg, they usualy didnt deploy autosave. they have didicated save point/inn to replenish hp and mp.. thats why management hp/mp or any item is crucial
change the control type to move magic to the shoulder buttons. Now you can charge both magic and melee separately without holding square and triangle together.
I would recommend that people try control scheme C, since it makes magic bursts *way* easier. It puts magic on L1, and it's dramatically easier to handle the magic burst timing when you're not having to use the same finger for it.

I have some questions for you or anyone really into these games: is the game too long to beat? And is it too complicated? I kind of miss the fact it doesn’t have coop, but i think i might buy this one, i love the combat.
I’m enjoying the game and the combat is by no means shallow but I’m finding that it’s lacking a bit in fluidity and creative decision making when compared to something similar like God of War. Here’s an example where the combat shines, an enemy is about to fire a projectile at you, you block with Titan, switch to wind to pull them in, switch to fire and knock them up, phoenix shift up, juggle them then slam down attack. Imagine how much more there could be tho. What if you could upgrade the kick off to hold X to do a higher jump with a new flip animation. You could use it to get up to taller enemies head, to launch over/get away from a large group of enemies, to get a higher/stronger slam down. What if you could hit the slam input after slam down to bounce back up with the enemy and continue juggling them. Idk it just needs that extra layer of options imo.
They should really add a hard mode to the game. It has some pretty cool stuff going for it. Would be cool to make it a challenge like elden ring. They could make it so you have to identify the enemy and remember what it is weak to to add some more variation to the fighting. Having to use specific eikon abilities etc.
Theyve already confirmed harder difficulties, but they seem to be unfortunately locked behind beating the normal mode once. There is the "Final Fantasy" mode with new monster placements and AI, and the "Ultimaniac" difficulty, which seems to be arcade mode specific, and has a leaderboard for high scores.
One other thing I didn't see you cover, which is probably a relatively basic tip but some may not realize, the garuda skill that launches you and enemies into the air can be followed up with the titan AOE slam skill as that can be used in the air. You can't charge it, but it allows for rapid descent and high damage, and is useful to getting all your abilities thrown in time during the ending boss fight. Phoenix uppercut > garuda rapid slash > garuda rising attack > titan slam > titan drill arm (land it in the red). Massive damage combo.
Idk if this is a stupid question but is there the healing damage effect on elemental in this game. I was fighting the grauda chick and used the air form against her and she was getting damaged and healed.
If you use Titan's block during the R1 dodge prompts (regular gameplay, not the cinematics) you should always (or almost always) get the perfect block. Super easy.
Brooooo I didn't even know that you can assign Eikon abilities to other Eikon forms. The combat system depth just when from a lake to the Pacific Ocean.

Upgrading heatwave also gives it that second projectile. And parrying spells with said upgraded heatwave sends out 3 projectiles. Definitely a must have compared to the other two Phoenix abilities.
Well done. Learned a lot from this. Excited for tomo
good video bro. This game is going to amazing.
This video and all the comments beside are pure gold. 🔥🔥 Thanks yall !
Great video. I learned a few things. One thing to note, Controller set up C makes it so much easier to do magic combos and charging since it requires L1 instead of Triangle.
Thank you for this video
The charged attack combos, for both magic and melee, are the reason i think layout B is superior. For me at least, its much easier to hold say r2, while spamming r1, then it is to hold triangle and spam square
there is a parry system, u parry enemy attack with ur normal attack, it will slow the time for a moment.
its to hard
@@zerobob8586 no it’s not lol they are so generous with it
@@thegamewin100 nah its hard to predict cause you don't know when some attacks land. Dodge is easy
Don’t know if is a intended mechanic or not. But I found easier to parry (or sword clash) using a charged attack
You earned yourself another subscriber. Thank you for the thorough explanation.
Also if you press R1 while jumping back in the rooks gambit counterattack, the cooldown will reset
This video deserves more views! The haters who think combat here is just button mashing need to see this so they can shut up.
Dude I'm loving the combat in this game...
Its wild just how in depth the combat system in this is. I wasn't the biggest fan of the combat in XV but this looks like a big step up
its not step up, its different genre, ff15 is still jrpg true to final fantasy. and ff16 is action game in general, and this depth combat is spice of fighting game 2d, jugling, launcher, air combo and stuff (things that relevant only for expert gamer). as far as the demo shown, there is no tactical at all in ff16. tactical, strategy and "cinematic" magic/skill effect is one of characteristic unique to jrpg. still, i am okay with ff16 though, loved it. but i hope in the future they made ff more like FF7R as the main flag
The combat is so good
I would recommend that people try control scheme C, since it makes magic bursts *way* easier. It puts magic on L1, and it's dramatically easier to handle the magic burst timing when you're not having to use the same finger for it.
You can cancel out of rocks gambit by pressing dodge in case you get your timing wrong and you'll be able to instantly use it again without cool down.
For the phoenix shift + burning blade move I can’t seem to get the timing right, is there a certain frame that I should be looking for?
I definitely prefer control set B to have attack and magic on R1 and R2
Charge blade and magic makes no sense to stay on control scheme A, try B if you are struggling
Thanks for the info!!
Woah why does that clip of Clive and the Archduke look so much more smooth out while running at 60fps as opposed to the demo that made it look pre-rendered at 30fps
Just wanted to mention you can use the Titan parry when you get the prompt to dodge with R1. That skill is so satisfying to pop off
That with the ring of focus right?
Haven't been as excited for a combat system since DMC5, this looks awesome
Great Video Sir
The battle system is fantastic. I'm looking forward to competing with you on combo mads! :D
Man you already mastered the combat. seems a bit challenging
I have been stomp into wicked wheeling into upheaval non stop falling from a really high height into a ground slam is too fun
Thanks for the tips…this game made me realize I havent played a DMC game since DMC1 so im very rusty at action games like this..gonna be fun 🔥🔥🔥
Can the particle effects be turned off.
Maybe if you play on performance mode for lesser quality graphics???
Okay, I totally missed charged normal and magic attacks. Love to slam staggered enemies with the charged attack of the Titan tho.
thank you!
Dude man brew, you just sold me on the game. 😅😅😅 Time to get a ps5 for this game and AC6. Thanks again mayn.
As a lapsed gamer, bruh is gaming on another level. I didn't know the system was anywhere near that deep.
I have some questions for you or anyone really into these games: is the game too long to beat? And is it too complicated? I kind of miss the fact it doesn’t have coop, but i think i might buy this one, i love the combat.
The main story is supposedly around 35 hours
This Devil Mau Cry is amazing.
@@silvermunkee Huh, ok cool. Would still prefer it to be hard on first try but, ok.
This is what 15 should’ve been like in terms of tight n deep combat
change to configuration C and hold L1 + Square and you will auto attack into fire burst. Makes combat simplified.
I think the higher you dothe titan ability from the more damage but I'm not really sure on that
@@bobabola3399 Yeah that has been confirmed, you can use deadly embrace to get more height for it and compare the damage. The buff is pretty big!
This game about to go HARD! So damn excited to get into this 🔥
For so many years been praying for Final Fantasy to have free Melee
Is this all from the demo or do you have a pre release?
All from the Demo
I am waiting for you.
Idk if this is a stupid question but is there the healing damage effect on elemental in this game. I was fighting the grauda chick and used the air form against her and she was getting damaged and healed.
absorb
I relate the combat as if God of war 3 and DMC 5 had a baby
this will be the best action game EVER
Wait how did you have Titan during the demo??
If you use Titan's block during the R1 dodge prompts (regular gameplay, not the cinematics) you should always (or almost always) get the perfect block. Super easy.
that feature takes away the skills of dodgin/parrying attacks
@@haxesiit's op feature.. :/
Brooooo I didn't even know that you can assign Eikon abilities to other Eikon forms. The combat system depth just when from a lake to the Pacific Ocean.
Another simple tip is to change the default control scheme to b or c, is more comfortable for charging actions while performing other actions
How did you get to play with the other elements, my demo didn’t go that far
It's the eikonic challenge once you beat the prologue
How to hold square and triangle at the same time without feeling uncomfortable?
Switch to Control preset B. That made it easier for me. It changes attack to r1 and magic to r2. Kind of like God of war or the fromsoft games
This is a very silly question - how do you swap to rooks gambit?
In the ability skill tree
Hells yea ff16 info let’s go!
Like 5 is from me bro
