8:40 How funny. My first thought when I heard the other woman start speaking at the beginning of the video was how nice her voice was and how I wish that I sounded more like that. I am definitely more on the loud side 😂 I never really thought about naturally soft-spoken people wanting to be louder 😁 How true that we need to accept and embrace those qualities about ourselves and not try to be someone we are not.

Hi! Thank you for this content!! ❤ it’s so hard to figure out true feminity in our world today where there is so much secular noise. Could y’all talk about a Catholic view of “best practices” with early motherhood? For example… sleep training, balancing housework and spending time with baby, daycare, etc. I know these are hot topics, but I wonder how many best practices are best for the working mom and which are actually best for children.

You mentioned two groups of women at the start -- young mothers, and young college students. I'll be honest, it really can seem like those are the only types of women that ever get mentioned in these types of discussions. I'm neither a mother nor a young adult. I'm 34, and I've never been married or had children. This was not how I wanted my life to turn out, but this is the reality of the situation I'm in. Do you have any advice for women who are sort of "cut adrift" like me? I volunteer at my parish, which I enjoy greatly, but by and large I feel like I'm "surplus to requirements" and a bit of a failure for not being in the "married with kids" club. I'm confident that I don't have a vocation to religious life.
It can certainly feel as though the broader Catholic subculture sees women like me as "defectives" or "not real women". I'm not suggesting that that's the intention of this video -- but it seems as though women like me are totally invisible. Perhaps it's unpleasant to talk about, but it's possible that a daughter of yours could end up like me, single and childless far beyond the age at which most Catholic women are married. That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but it's possible, and I think it's wise to have a self-image that can withstand that disappointment.

can't like this enough, I am in the same boat and have seen many examples of women in our situation that are generally left on our own

I'm with you (though older) and work for the church with JH youth. But as a person fully understand and agree with you. It's hard being single and childless in Catholic offerings and conversations. Stay strong and blessed in who you are.

@@LP-ri4xp Do you know why that is? Do they make an effort to connect and get rejected? Or are there too few opportunities to make connections with others?

Excuse my ignorance, but why do you think monastic life isn't for you? If God is not pulling you toward motherhood, wouldn't the other option be to live a religious life? Some women who become nuns never thought they would, but they prayed for God to open their hearts to it or put a burning desire in their hearts for it. It may not be what you think you want, but maybe God wants that for you?

@@Rin22730that’s not how religious life works. Some people just don’t meet a spouse. Men aren’t men anymore. A lot lack the maturity to bea husband.

Respectfully, I think your talk on modesty is misguided. There are ideals we should strive for but we should not do away with them or scoff at them (especially at the Vatican modesty guidelines you are obviously scoffing at which are rules for Catholic dress everywhere, not just the Vatican) because they may not be completely feasible for us at the moment does no one any good. You will give an account of anyone you lead astray. Once we decide we are our own moral compasses, things go badly. None of us have more authority than the popes (who were much wiser and closer to God than us) here on earth so we should at least show some respect to them and what they decreed.
