The Eurythmics had several hit songs like "Missionary Man", "Love is a Stranger", "Who's that Girl", and "Would I Lie to You" which is a great retro song - sounds like an R&B 1960s style song. In the early 1990s Annie Lennox went solo, with successful albums like Medusa and Diva.
On top of the songs others listed "There must be an Angel (Playing with My Hear)"t and "I saved the world today" (1999) Annie Lennox has also done quite a lot of solo stuff.
Here Comes The Rain Again, Would I Lie To You, Missionary Man - all top 10 billboard chart toppers in the mid 80s from the Eurythemics. Gents react to Here Comes The Rain Again, it’s a banger! Thanks for this reaction!
Decades later, that opening synth is still sick. The melody and groove reel you in, and Annie's vocals are something for which all singers should strive.
Annie’s from Scotland. She’s quite the soul singer. She’s got a great duet with Aretha Franklin called “ Sisters Doin It For Themselves “. Another great hit if hers was “ Why?” Soulful as hell. ❤😊
I have always liked her vocals. Seen them in concert and just a real pleasure to listen to. They had other songs that were hits Like: Here Comes the Rain Again
The controversy over this was ridiculous. She was accused cross dressing and being a transvestite (yes, that ridiculous term) and showing BDSM and OMG think of the children!!! It was ludicrous.
This is a song that's so great it transcends all racist barriers, ppl into all different genres love it, it appears to everyone cause its simply great art.
Annie Lennox - duets with Al Greene, Aretha, Bowie, Whitney, Pavarotti to name a few - were all hits. Strong emotive voice exuding soul, range emotive and joy...a performer!
Eurythmics (pronounced as “Your-RITH-mics”) was a Scottish-British Rock duo, which had its greatest success between 1981 and 1990. Annie Lennox (lead singer, synthesizer player, piano player, and flutist (mostly on the early albums and tours)) is Scottish. Dave Stewart (not to be confused with the famous Oakland Athletics pitcher; lead guitarist and drum computer programmer) is British. Lennox and Stewart were both members of the British Pop Rock/Folk Rock group, The Tourists. When the group broke up in 1980, they decided to continue working together as Eurythmics. The duo recorded 8 albums in an 8-year period between 1981 and 1989, which was and still is unprecedented for contemporary Rock music artists. They had a good number of “Top 40” hits during the 1980s, such as “Love Is A Stranger”, “Here Comes The Rain Again”, “Who’s That Girl?” (not to be confused with the song by Madonna), “Would I Lie To You?”, “Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves (with Aretha Franklin)”, “Missionary Man”, “Beethoven (I Love To Listen To)”, “I Need A Man”, “You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart”, “Don’t Ask Me Why”, and “Angel”. In 1999, Eurythmics reunited to record their charity album, “Peace”, and went out on tour to support it. In 2022, Eurythmics were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Annie Lennox, what an incredible singer, one of the best female voices in rock, perhaps in all music. There are some of her songs on solo albums, her unique tone, just absolutely beautiful sounds in this world. She does a duet with David Bowie singing Under Pressure taking the place of the amazing Freddie Mercury, a must hear. Love you guys, really enjoy hearing your thoughts, opinions and comments!
Probably the most beautiful woman on earth at the time. What made her so special is that she refused to sell her beauty and focused on her unbelievable voice and expression..and Dave was nothing bit a musical genius! What a band , what a pair!
Love Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics. I had the pleasure of seeing them live back in 1984, and it was one of the best concerts I ever atteded! They had numerous great hits back in the 80s! To name a few ... check out "Missionary Man", "Who's That Girl", "Here Comes The Rain Again", "Would I Lie To You", "Why", and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Great reaction, guys. Thanks! ✌💙✌
I have never understood why she doesn't get more recognition. To my ear, her vocals are more delicate and nuanced than, say, Adele's. Yet Adele has a much larger following.
@@sujatabose7983 It's just a different era. More exposure these days. If Annie was in her prime today, she'd be more recognized than anyone. She's a real talent. Unlike someone like Swift who is a total product of the machine.

What can I say? It’s a great song from my childhood. She looked scary to me as a child but I was crazy about good music back then, too. So had to get over myself and DANCE 🙇♀️
The Eurythmics had many hits in the 80s. But Sweet Dreams basically cemented the 80s sound we look back on fondly today. ❤You all need to check out her duet with Aretha Franklin.
I've always thought this song was about the record industry and the corruption within. My immediate thought when I first saw the video and the cows all through it was that the cattle symbolized how the band felt they were treated... like "cash cows".🤷♀ Great reaction!❤
Written by The Eurythmics. Recorded in London, UK 🇬🇧. 40 years 🎂 I remember hearing 👂 this in many dance 💃 clubs then. Great 👍 song 🎵 Eurythmics have a lot of hits. Technically this band formed in the rural Australian town Wagga Wagga. Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart were in another band called The Tourists. They had a minor hit with a cover version of “I only want to be with you.” Sitting in a hotel, on tour the two decided they had enough of that band and to go in a different direction so then and there they formed the Eurythmics.
Every time I see something like "Americans were shocked by Sweet Dreams", I wonder which Americans they are talking about. Surprised and fascinated perhaps, but no one I knew was "shocked". Sheesh.
A month ago, my 6 year old cousin was singing this song on the way home. I love me some Annie Lennox. Breaking on the scene with fire red buzz cut hair
Eurythmics recorded a song, and made a music video, for the song, “Sexcrime (Nineteen Eighty-Four)”, which was from their album, “1984 (For The Love Of Big Brother)”, released in late-1984 to promote the remake of the film of the same name. The song became a “Top 5” hit on the Billboard Dance Music Chart. It has a strong electric bass beat (Dave Stewart played bass when he was in the British Pop Rock/Folk Rock band, The Tourists), and the drum work is hard-hitting as well. All of you might want to react to this song/music video by Eurythmics.
You guys would dig I need a man by Eurythmics. In that video Annie kills it on vocals and her performance and Dave shreds the guitar. Check it out. Love y'all's reactions.
The Eurythmics together and Annie Lennox (solo) had way more hits. Possibly when she sings "this" it sounds like "these" because she is Scottish and so has an accent. Speaking of Scots - there are loads of great Scottish singers and bands out there, especially from the 80s era.
React to their songs Here Comes The Rain Again, Love Is A Stranger, Its Alright (Baby's Coming Back), Who's That Girl, There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart), Missionary Man, Would I Lie To You?, Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves (duet with Aretha Franklin), Thorn In My Side, When Tomorrow Comes, Beethoven (I Love To Listen To), You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart, King And Queen Of America, Don't Ask Me Why and Angel please. And react to Annie Lennox's solo career songs Why, Love Song For A Vampire, Walking On Broken Glass,Cold, No More I Love You's and This Little Bird please.
They toured together in 2004 as a double-bill concert tour. I also saw them in concert that Summer in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh) at an outdoor amphitheater there. Annie Lennox was the opening act. Then, the rain poured, as Sting performed his concert. The rain stopped once the concert was over, making for a safe drive back home to Ohio (they did not perform in Cleveland, Ohio that year).
