I would like to add that we are also obligated by tradition and the legacy of our veterans. In my opinion we are not braging with accoomplisments of prior generations, but we are prepared to do the same if neccessary. No matter what. Altough the orther side try to intimidate us we take it seriously but we are not scared.

According to the Constitution of Finland every Finnish citizen is obligated to participate in national defence. Every male Finnish citizen aged 18-60 is liable for military service, and women can apply for military service on a voluntary basis.

Mad respect to our grandparents for our independence.
, and mad respect for our future generations.
They still are willing to fight for Finland like I was if it ever comes to it ...
Nowadays... I'm old enough that I would be called into arms.
Only after Finland runs out of cats and dogs to send onto frontline.

Reservists have gone through military training (myself included). Some reservists are used for fast deployment in case of war. They are the ones expected to show up extremely fast compared to regular reservists.
Also, that reporter is an actual reporter often seen on finland’s tv, so the impact of his words was bigger. And I am not 100% sure, but pretty sure those are actual soldiers seen on the video, not some actors.

This is battlefield 2020. Made long before russian's latest attack in ukraine.
Finnish defence forces produce these every few years to keep the people up to how we are prepared.
Since nearly everybody has either served in finnish defence forces or have brothers or sisters or sons and daughters who have, of course these films are interesting to see for general population if the current generation is up to task of keeping russians away.
This has been a normal part of our life at least 500 years.
Every 100 years russia attacks finland.
    Nothing new here.

To be more accurate, it has been our existence for the past 1200 years, counting a minimum twice each century that the Russians have caused havoc on us Finns....this 80 year period has been the longest ever of moderate peace we've had but it's soon coming to an abrupt end...

    For a slight base knowledge.
    The terms and fighting doctrine
Sulute=Blockage (usage; to divert enemy approach)
Maaston määräaikainen pito = Designated area hold (to keep enemy engaged at an advantages area)
Motitus = encirclement of the enemy (to surround and cutoff the enemy)
    Relieving the designated hold
Motin purkaminen, tuhoaminen = Further dicing of the encirclement, dismantling of and destruction of the surrounded enemy forces (usually no quarter given, as the enemy can't be trusted to surrender, and every "escapee" equals a frontal assault)

    • @JPPVESA
      @JPPVESA 3 дні тому

Ukrainians might be willing to take POW, we Finns know better and unless it's on a specific assignment, we don't take prisoners. We're not trained for it nor do we have facilitative means to keep them. Everyone can be killed on the basis of it being an enemy engaged in battle. We know the Russians would do the exact same to us.
This coming from me as a Border Guard Jaeger trained to be the first shield and tip of the fighting spear responsible for implementing aforementioned doctrine in a wilderness setting.

There's a difference between landmines designed against infantry and landmines designed to destroy vehicles. The former are those that are still littered in some areas long after the conflict has ended, especially those that have been carpet dropped from air onto a large area in large quantities. Landmines meant to destroy vehicles -at least in Finland- are not placed randomly and every single one of them are accounted for and their position is known by our troops. That also goes for infantry mines, should they ever be used, their places are marked in our maps and they are neutralized immediately when they are no longer needed.

I do not know if you knew this or not, but Finland has 1 of highest level of nation ready to die for their country and keeping it free. And also just think that almost every woman/man can shoot pretty accurately, and after their military training they might be your friendly kiosk or grocery store teller's. Because at this moment there is some discussions whether all women should have mandatory service in army or some organization that provides security and supplies to soldier's during war. I know some American UA-camrs that also are in US military that has said after this video that they are lucky to have such tenacious country as their allie. After all Finland shared more than 1800 kilometers of border with Russia.

  • @janihaavisto79

@TheApilas is correct. I am 45yo man from Finland but i am trained to be a Urban gorilla warfare Jaeger. And still have good enough stamina to keep up with a team that does CQB and house clearing and obviously.aking some traps against enemy troop's if that day is coming in here. To be fair war in Ukraine showed even to our political parties that if Putin was so willing and ready to wipe out an brotherhood nation(what Ukraine very much is), then what would make him hesitate to send troop's here to Finland as well. So the fast reaction and taking a poll whether nation wanted to join Nato now was crucial. Because in WWII we were left to defend ourselves since not 1 allied nation was willing to help us. So we had to make a deal with a devil himself Hitler. He was only one that was willing to aid us to defend Russia wiping us out After Winter war.

Didn't watch yet, but nice to see you react to an actually well-produced (propaganda) piece about Finnish defense. Always nice to watch people getting mind blown over what total defense looks like. Check out Taistelukenttä 1998 too, it's the older counterpart to this. A real blast from the past, and a bit of a different take to the concept. This one has some uncanny similarities to the "Three Days to Kiev" -march, though...

    Taistelukenttä is pronounced like
Dar - yeesh - tell her - Ken - Dan (just leave out the final "n")
I don't mean it's going to be perfect, but if you say it slowly enough, it's going to be understood.
Bonus sector: two thousand twenty = kaksituhatta kaksikymmentä
Cuc*s - eater - had to - cu*ks - ew - Kim (okay, the vowel "y" here is pretty close to the one in "few") - ent (Treebeard!) - are (again, the vowel "ä" is closer to the one in "black")
No, actually Finnish is pretty easy once you get how it works :D
