Bait Fishing For Murray Cod, My Biggest Cod This Season
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 січ 2024
- I enjoy bait fishing for Murray cod every bit as much as I enjoy lure fishing for them. I love the relaxation of sitting in my fishing chair and waiting for a bite. Bait fishing or lure fishing, when it comes to Murray cod fishing I love them both equally.
In this video I catch my biggest Murray cod so far this season.

Holly has quite a talent to sew as she fishes, some teens these days wouldn’t know how to do either. Cheers to you bro, keeping it real with beauty and talent ! The humor you guys give to each who watch is EPIC! Thank you!
Haha thank you so much. Holly is amazing. She is such an incredible young lady.
I had to learn to sew at HS cos textiles was compulsory, as my old school was quite progressive as it was a former girls' HS!
“We have been here 5mins and have both lost our cheese”. Classic!!!
Hahaha classic Commentary. 😂😂😂
If you weren't watching the video you would wonder what on earth I was talking about. LOL 🤣
That’s what my wife say whilst the kids are watching your channel. She says “If I hear that Robbie has lost his cheese again……..”!
@@chrisreynolds4595 hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣

Poor dad and slugguts 😅
Haha thanks mate. Poor dad and Slug guts. My very first day working with slug guts years ago,.I asked him if he had seen the movie ET? Then I lifted my shirt, flipped my guts out and waved my arms in the air while making humming noises. Haha We got along very well. LOL 😂😂😂
@@robbiefishing hahaha ET phoned home after that 😂
What a Nickname but aye, only in Australia.
Sounds like you blokes have shared some good times 👍
Nice cod Robbie and Holly👍
Thanks so much Simon..👍👍
Well you will have to tell Dad aka Terry that the Apple catches more fish 🐟 than the tree 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha that's funny. The poor guy went out to this spot on my advice a couple of days ago and missed out again. It's been really hard here with the storms. The rivers are up and down all over the place.
Awesome session Bros, Keep up the good work and especially the Jokes please Bro.
Massive thanks for making me smile today , just out of hospital after a knee op and seems have some infections post op.
Hobbling around the room presently but thanks both Bros for making me smile :)

Cheez, there were some good bites there! Good to see you keeping your reel well washed ..... Lovely fish Robbie! "That's not funny Dad", yep, heard that before lol, and nice catch bro!

Just lucky your quick on your feet mate but yes it happens so fast with the cod
Good day out for you two
Thanks mate, it sure was.
@@robbiefishing here we just got a little snow and a drastic temperature drop. Cold enough to make ice safe for ice fishing but it's not supposed to last long enough to open the window for ice fishing. I like to say fishing on ice or visit the fish market, that's a tough one lol. I've mentioned how many record fish have been taken recently. Just this week I saw an article where a young girl caught a massive northern pike through the ice. Ice fishing is an interesting sport. If you've ever seen a movie called Grumpy Old Men that movie depicts the culture built around ice fishing. It's also good for a bundle of laughs.
@@papeep2694 haha I did watch that movie many years ago. I remember laughing a lot. Those guys came from an amazing era in American comedy.
Great fishing Robbie
Thanks mate. 👍👍
A near fishing rodless experience again 🤣 cracker fish mate 👍🏻
Haha thanks mate. I know right, that was super close.
Very nice cod mate!
Thanks Tommy. ,👍👍
I’d count the first one as a quick release!
Haha OK I will. We caught 3 cod and 2 carp. LOL 🤣🤣

Thanks so much Larry. Haha she is easy to keep entertained out the river. It's at home that she gets so bored. LOL 🤣
Great session 😊 deja vu for the rod again 😂
Haha thanks mate. You're not wrong. LOL Twice in 2 weeks. Haha
What did the poor rod do to deserve that..😅it the reel crying the most lol
I would love to see a cod and yellow cook up
I do have a cod catch and cook, and filleting video, but I don't think I've ever cooked a yellowbelly on camera. When the days are a bit cooler I plan on filming more catch and cook videos.
@@robbiefishing cannot wait
Well done Holly n Robbie...beautifull fish. Another rod saving experience :)
Thanks mate. Haha It's a miracle that I still even have that rod. LOL
Wonderful session two beautiful magnificent cod LOL😂😂😂😂😂
Have to get collapsing rod holders to fit a back pack
Haha thanks Pete. This fishing rod has done so well to survive this summer. LOL
A beautiful day for you both

Haha thanks mate.
Nice .
Well done guys, you’re a very lucky man Robbie, great video.
Thank you so much Lorraine, I certainly am a very lucky man.
Great cod Rob you’ll laugh I was fishing with my cousin when we were kids he had this huge bite he didn’t have the drag on probably the line was going out that quick and he also forgot to tie the line on the reel 😂you can guess the rest.
Hahaha no way.... It took all the line? Haha 😂😂😂
Going good zBros was that old cheese lol. Hi mate hi holly. Hope you are both well catch a big one.
Thanks so much Des. This was a ripper arvo this one.
I went fishing on Sunday last week and I got a 54 and a half murray cod
Awesome,.well done mate.
Awesome session bro'z 😂😂😂😂
Thanks bro. 👍
Good session!
THOSE fish can bring a tear to the eye of a grown man!
Good signs they're moving a bit in your area.
The flush of water must have stirred them up!
Thanks UF. The rain is making things touch in the short term, but long term it is a huge help.
@@robbiefishing Ok.
Slug guts lol I won't ask.. lovely cod bros! Cowculator lol, normally holly doesn't get the dad jokes but you may have got a laugh there.
Hahaha she knew something was coming. LOL 😂😂😂
If you search "catching monster crayfish with Shane Orr" you will find a video of my crayfishing with Sluggy.
Yep love it. 🍺👍🏽
Thanks so much Al.
Nice fish, well done Holly.
Thanks mate. I will pass your comment onto Holly.
Cheers mate @@robbiefishing
Great fish Robbie and can’t believe you nearly lost the rod again. Fishing this season seems to be really up and down. Also love the underwater fart haha
Hahaha thanks mate. That's such a Dad thing to do. LOL 🤣🤣🤣
Good one mate 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Cam.
I went fishing with an old bloke once. He was pulling Bardi grubs from holes we exposed along side the tree roots. He used a twisted coat hanger very gently until he felt It bite then slowly pulled out the grub. Apparently they're the ducks guts for cod.
Yep they sure are. I use to collect hundreds of them as a kid. I used a Speedo cable with a corkscrew on the end. Sometimes I would just use a reid with a knot tied in the end to get them out alive.
@@robbiefishingLove your videos mate. You're obviously a genuinely top bloke all 'round.
Bass smash em
Witchery grubs..best bait on earth
Awesome session bros!! That cod was 2cm bigger then my first one i ever caught, about 2 weeks ago following your tips :) cheers looking forward to next time i get near cod country thats for sure! ❤
Thanks so much mate. Cod fishing certainly is addictive isn't it. Haha
Great fish mate just went to the Murray river a couple of days ago and I got a 75cm on the cast
WOW that's a magnificent fish, well done mate.
@@robbiefishing thanks Robbie my heart was certainly racing after that one. But that is only a tiddler compared to my uncles 110 on the spinnerbait 2 weeks ago
Nice greenies! Fish on!
Thanks mate. 👍👍
Great session Robbie!
Thanks mate. 👍
Omg Robbie mate you better strap those rods to your arms 😜
Hahaha thanks Camels. I don't know how that fishing rod has survived this summer. Haha
Wow Robbie, what a ripper! Also well done to holly, super nice fish bro! Great little session there mate, I wonder if that big guy you caught is the same one you lost🤔🤔. Keep it up mate
Thanks mate. It could quite possibly be. I'm certainly not ruling it out.
Great video man. I learn lots and always entertained 👍 fantastic content and such a great bloke
Thank you so much for your kind words mate. 🙏
Nice cod there, i like the fact you throw all your cod back. The bro doesnt get most of your jokes but she got the cowculator one lol.
Hahaha thanks mate. They usually go over her head. Haha 😂😂😂
Great video! Both looked like very healthy cod 😁🎣
Thanks buddy. 👍👍
"Don't forget you have your pack on" "Oh, Yeah..." LOL
At least you saw the OTGA and weren't left wondering. Nice 65, looked fit and fat. Probably eating the small carp by the gob full.
Thanks Andrew. I dare say they're all been feeding heavily on carp over the last couple of years. Holly's backpack. Haha
Congrats on the thumpin cod mate definitely well deserved! I reckon you sound a bit flat mate, that fart was about an e flat you need a tune up hahaha. Well done both of you
Hahaha thanks mate. E flat. E for ecoli? Haha
Cracking cod there cob😂
Thanks mate. 👍👍
Nice cod Robbie
Thanks buddy. 👍👍
Good stuff Robbie.
Oh yeah, taking my friends little grandkids fishing tomorrow. Cant wait.
Thanks Phil. 👍👍
That's.awesome, good luck to you all mate.
Holly you gun well done girl
She sure is a hun angler.
" There are three types of people in the world , Ones that can count and ones that cant " . But I usually only counted about one fish when i used to go fishing
Hahaha that is one of my all time favourite one liners. LOL 🤣🤣
G'day mate been watching for a while now an love it!
Are you aloud to let carp go over east? We in WA get in big trouble for letting them go🧐
Are Murrey cod nice eating?.
Keep the good work up you mob!!! 😊
Hi Russell thanks for watching. Murray cod are magnificent eating mate. I keep one every now and then but usually prefer to release them.
We are not allowed to release carp here either. We have to kill them too.
You both need a headcam all the time it would make killer videos.
Mate any cod over 380mm would be a top scooby snak lol 😂.
Haha
"Cowculator", you are lucky Holly didn't throw mud at you mate.
Hahahahaha 🐄🐄🐄
Hi Robbie, I love your vids, I have a question for you and any cod and yellow belly fishing viewers, I know you say freshwater shrimp are good cod and yellow belly bait, have you caught or know anybody who regularly catches them or any of the other freshwater fish you regularly target on saltwater prawns.
Hi mate, Fishtalk Video up at Lake Hume filmed a video fishing for redfin with them just last week.
Hello mate, frozen cooked prawn tails are a good bait for redfin, I usually use them in place of yabbies on paternoster rigs similar to those Robbie uses. Cheers.
You should get holly a GoPro so you can post both of yous fishing pov
She was actually wearing one when she caught her cod..she had my DJI action 3 on and I had the action 4.
a lot of dead carp being caught around that size.
When you and bro going to do a catch and cook cod video. I think it would be fun
Thanks for the great tip Barry. All catch and cook snare on hold until the weather cools down. Haha In saying that, today would be a great day but I'm too busy. LOL
Did you move your fishing sticks further out or is that river affected by the tide?
Hi mate, because we didn't have much room on the bank I just set them up in the water. The butts of the rods were on the bank.
hi robbie loved the video was just wondering how you rigged your hook and sinker for worms and cheese
Thanks Charlie. I use a paternoster rig mate.
3:11 also, knife shaped sticks are dangerous and don't hold your rod very well 😋
Haha
Hay robbie my Pb this season is an 84cm murray cod do some fishing down yass river good luck
WOW mate that is awesome. Well done..
Hey Robbie, love the video, just wondering what kind of hooks and what size you recommend and what kind of cheese you find your success with, cheers mate, keep up the great videos🤙
Thanks mate. I use tasty cheese, and I prefer bait holder hooks. As for the size, I would need to look at the packaging to see. I honestly don't know. I just know roughly what size I want and buy them without paying too much attention to the actual size.
@@robbiefishing Cheers mate, hopefully I’ll be able to catch myself some cod🤙 keep up the videos, I love them
@@user-fx2go3qu5u Thanks so much mate. 👍👍
what did one fish say to the other , only caught one rod today but it was a 7 footer. the other fish said that's not bad what did you use for bait the other fish said robbie alexander.
Hahaha I'm sure they talk about me down there. LOL 😂😂 "Here comes that clumsy guy with the beard, don't worry too much he's probably forgotten how net anyway". 😂😂
LMFAO
So the big question is, do you catch more fish casting lures or chucking some cheese burley in & trying to attract them to your hook bait ?
It varies from trip to trip.
I always catch more fish with bait, but tend to get bigger fish with lures more frequently. And nothing beats a boof on a surface lure. Haha
What reel do you have on the cheese rod
Hi mate, it is a Piscifun reel. I can't remember the model name though sorry. There may be a link to it in the video description if I could find one online..
Hi Robbie, im living out near the walla-walbundrie area planning to go fishing in the billabong creek and was wondering if you have had any luck with fish other than carp and what i should use for bait or lures
Hi mate, I have only ever caught carp and yabbies in the Billabong.
I believe there are cod and yellowbelly up closer to Culcairn but I have not spent much time up there.
I would be using worms for bait above all else mate. 👍
@@robbiefishing thanks Robbie been wtaching you where 6 Years and i still catch jack shit
@@robbiefishing apprently The Howlong fishing club did just release 5000 cod and yellow belly into the creek at walbundrie so it might be worth a fish in a year or so
Should of taken him home for dinner as the guest of honour
Haha Nah, happy to let this one go. A nice yellowbelly would have come home with me though.
@@robbiefishing yeah a juicy yella would be fantastic ive got 1sitting in the freezer but iam yet to catch a legal cod this season ive probably caught 40 cod over 4 different trips and the biggest one was 52 so iam keen to snag one for the esky
why don't you keep the murray cod??
Hi mate, I do occasionally, but I prefer to limit my kill, not kill my limit.
where did she get her shirt from
Adventure Camping And Fishing in Wangaratta.
cheers
What did what to your little worm lmao
Hahahaha 😆😂😂
Gday Rob, I'm going off to echuca for some cod fishing what size rod and reel do you recommend?? (Mostly bait but lure fishing also)
what creek or water hole is this?
