“Singer” though? Guitarist sure. But I don’t even think Clapton would consider himself “on the map of fucking crazy good blues singers.” But I agree he did a good job and it’s an epic song.
@@wilmoney4619 My friend, I love Hendrix and so does Clapton but there is no point comparing them. Clapton plays this song his way, Hendrix would play it differently. What matters is that Clapton freaking touched my soul with this cover of his!
Great old blues- soul song and an all star band with David Sanborn and Hiram Bullock among others. My favorite is still Ray Charles sudio version with his delicate piano lines and unbelievable voice, but this version is really great stuff too., Thanks for loading
This is one of those untouchable songs to remake but Clapton nails it both vocally and musically! I love his tone and phrasing on this-you just have to forgive the 90-91 attire and hair.
Actually this footage is most probably around 89 since it was recorded on his album Journeyman.came out that year and it was also before his son Conor died.
There are so many great songs by so many great artists that EC has introduced to so many of us. Apart from being one of the greatest guitar players of all time, he also has impeccable taste!
All these comments about his suit.....WHO THE HELL CARES!!! IT'S CLAPTON!!! CLOSE YOUR EYES, LISTEN TO HIS VOICE & HIS GUITAR AND THANK GOD FOR HIS MERE PRESENCE ON THIS EARTH!!! :) :) :)
What a great song...and to think it was written in the early 50's by a couple of white kids still in their teens. Some say it was their first song they wrote together - one the greatest song writing teams in rock n roll/R & B history, Leiber and Stoller.
Respect to David Sanborn, Eric Clapton and of course to the genius Mr. Ray Charles. This son is never the same once your mom passes away: I miss you mom.
rays version is great and the way he sings it only a black man could sing this song. HOWEVER mr. clapton is very impressive because he can sing with a blues voice that is just excellant. so my hat is off to eric clapton on this!
Great! I've been trying to find a nice version where he does his blues guitar stuff :) I heard it on a flight in ChinaAirlines but couldnt find it anywhere else, brings back the memories of long plane flights B)
This is not my favorite…..RC song but EC owned it. He ripped it like a Rock/Blues Artist would. Ronald Reagan was the first PreZ I was eligible to vote for. No political comments Pa Liz but when his and Ray’s passing came, Ray’s loss was the worst for me. Awesome Tribute just like “Come Rain or Come Shine” with Mr. Bless the world BB
Same old tired no nothing pentatonic lame critique. You know NOTHING about pentatonic, playing phrasing, tone or ability. You are a jealous EC hater, who hates the fact that he is the most revered and influential guitarist of his generation. His one hair folicle has more talent and ability then you and 3/4 of everyone else!

Re-Visited because of David Sanborn.
The way EC plays and sings on this…he owns it!
The green Strat goes perfect with Eric's Joker suit.
Singing a Ray’s song, especially this one, good as he did it, puts you on the map of fucking crazy good blues singers!! Bravo Eric

hah! I was just thinking the same thing
I kno right. Maybe hes a fan lol
😂😂😂
Gotta be one to know... hard times
I love Eric voice
Another song that Eric Clapton introduced me to!
what an amazing sound he can produce with that Stratocaster!
Clapton has always achieved the perfect sound, no matter what he plays.
@@820hurleyj unless he played beside Jimi Hendrix
@@wilmoney4619 even with Hendrix ;). Beside that, Clapton is much better singer.
He could produce "that sound" with whatever guitar he played.

Calpton, maestro de todos los tiempos
There's a lotta strength in this performance, even more than the RAH one. Love em both equally.
Great old blues- soul song and an all star band with David Sanborn and Hiram Bullock among others. My favorite is still Ray Charles sudio version with his delicate piano lines and unbelievable voice, but this version is really great stuff too., Thanks for loading

One of the few times I have seen him playing a green signature model stratocaster of his.
Beautiful....and that sax.....WOW

Fantastic!
Excellent Eric 🙌🏽🙏🏽❤🌅
His voice is really good here.
Everyone's mentioning the 'Joker" suit - this was 1990, the year the first Batman came out , and it was mega hype marketed , so..........
Except it was 1989 Batman came out but point still stands!
que temazo por dios , me pone la piel de gallina escucharlo .
I fucking love this guy
Perfect!
You have to interpret this song in your own way. Good job Eric. Would love to have heard Donny Hathaway's version. Jesus 🙌🏽🙏🏽❤🌅

The genius of Ray Charles. I really miss this show.

Bravo~
Did the joker ever get his suit back? Kidding Clapton IS God. My fab.
At this time, he had made remarkable progress in his singing.
240p and still SO GOOD
Goddamn, the Joker can shred that Strat.
awesome woh i do love it with the sax with it sounds amazing,
Listen to the wonderfull original from the fantastic Ray Charles and you know this version is like Claptons hairstyle! :):):)
Amazing and cool? Yes.
Godly? Yeah I think so
El mejor tema de jornalero, lejos.
Parece que esa noche fue a la casa del guasón!!!!
Only Clapton can dress like The Joker and get away with it. LOL!
How can 3 people dislike this? quite sure has nothing to do with music itself, but style or other thing that it's not the main spirit here...
nice Joker Outfit :D
Tune 🤪
❤️
♥♥♥
..there sure did; hard times for Eric.
EC dressed as The Joker lol
hey kids...everyone wears Joker suits in the late 80s and early 90s
Exactly what i thought
One of my favorite songs by Ray. Nice cover to this but it's just missing that raw voice from Ray.
been there done it......
I'd sure like to see Eric play that just with acoustic guitar. If he's not too old, now.
Nice post Mariano Scott! Great song. Do you know what year this is from?
solo un blues
but its a great song though!
@SweetPapaFer Reminds me of joker
Why does eric clapton look so dark at the begging. I thought I was watching a cat Williams special at first.
No Tre lol
almost sounds like Ray if Ray never existed. Nice axe though bro
+Damian Rangi YES HE DOES
Clapton looks like the Joker!
@getkristan You ain't been on the EC scene long, have you?
they don't call him slow hand for nothing..
Maybe 1990 or 1991?
He's got a lovely head of hair for a man his age.
real slow hand.
the joker?
Does anyone knows when it happens?
89 or 90
Is this video speed faster? Looks kind of weird
George Michael meets the wolverine on sax ;)
green on purple ... ugh! (only joking)
very, very thin Clapton...playing a great song from Ray Charles...
who is the pianist?
Greg Phillinganes
Was this from the 80s by any chance? 😅
I love this song and this is a wonderful version. I am however, wondering why Eric is dressed like the Joker.
The joker was a blues man?
Barney was a dinosaur from our imagination and when he's tall he's what we call a dinosaur sensation...
I did'nt know Clapton used to be black
hahaha Joker
lol why is he dressed like the joker?
YmustTh3w0rldG0r0und The question is, why aren't you???

Wow, I was surprised that Clapton took a solo on this track; if I'm hearing right, you can't capture it with one simple pentatonic scale!
Muros you only hear a pentatonic scale being used? Then, you sir, have hearing problems.
Muros, feel free to do better.

This wasn't written by three white kids. This was written by Ray Charles himself.

Disappointed in the solo, it's not very subtle.
He made it his own lol
to me that's a pretty bad guitar solo
