Hello! I’m sorry o never got around to responding to this - sometimes not all comments show up when they are posted, which is weird.
The beautiful little paining is by an artist local to me named Janet Reid Wilson. She is amazingly talented and does the most beautiful paintings and portraits.

What a lovely and thoughtful podcast. I really liked the land acknowledgment by why of a geographic introduction. The work you did to make someone else's lovely knit wearable was a great inspiration. Your completed knits and future projects were so well put into context ... and the sourcing of local yarns, and producers...really rounded out your approach to this craft. I look forward to future podcasts.
To answer your question about other crafts... I love spinning and wet felting. I have been sewing for a very long time and at one time had my own clothing design micro company. And then there are jewellery and candles...

Hello! Thank you for your kind feedback. It is so appreciated.
Acknowledging that I am a settler on this land, and learning about the people who have a long history of calling this place home, is very important to me. I will continue to learn, and continue to voice my acknowledgment in future episodes.
Wow, you really enjoy many lovely crafts. I like sewing too, although I’m truly a novice. Hoping to do more of it! Wet felting also is something I like to try.

I don’t like the name stash either. I heard someone call her collection her yarn pantry,I love that! Your projects are all beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us.

Ooh I like that ‘yarn pantry’ too. I have many positive associations with the idea of a well-stocked pantry! I might adopt that phrase 😊 Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!! I just finished a ranunculous knit in a wool/mohair fingering wt. yarn from Small bird workshop which I think comes originally from wellington fibers. So possibly the same yarn youre thinking of doing your next one in. I went down to a US 8 needle size (adding some rows through the raglan section and before splitting for sleeves), and ended up with a more form fitting one. And i love it so much!! The yarn was perfect for it!

Awesome! Do you live in the Wellington county area? Or did you find that yarn further afield? Just curious!

@@songbirdsadeknits no I live in Sooke on Vancouver Island. I got the yarn at Fibrations (a fiber fest in Victoria). But they do sell the wellington fibers one at my local yarn shop in Sooke!
also, I did my undergrad in Guelph!! I love it there soo much!! ♥️

@@wovenheart2686 ah! That’s good to know that Wellington Fibre yarns are sold elsewhere because I’ve never encountered them except just by searching for yarn near me on Google maps. Lol.
And how nice to connect with someone who is familiar with Guelph! I wish I were familiar Vancouver Island - only visited once (Tofino and Pacific Rim Park). But would love to go back!

I would like to say how much I enjoyed listening and seeing your projects.
Lopi is definitely one of my favourite yarns to wear and work with. I only have two cardigans made with it so no jumper shaping but I would definitely say the one with a little shaping is much better to wear in terms of warmth and fit. I love your future knits.

Hi Mercedes, you ask for hip shaping without waist shaping. What about just doing a soft A-LINE? I made a sweater with kind of rusty yarn, a relatively thick spun finnsheep. Never thought, that it would come out that nice in that sporty, really warm yarn, but it did. No waist shaping at all, but an a line!

    • @songbirdsadeknits
      @songbirdsadeknits  3 роки тому

Hi Sharon! How are you doing?
Yes great tip on the A-line shape. I also really enjoy that shape, and it’s really flattering for most figures. I seriously considered doing it with this sweater, but the last Jennifer Steingass pattern that I made I modified with a-line shaping, and also knit in lettlopi. So I wanted this one to be a little different.
