I finished my first semi-circle! I'm so proud of myself because I'm still relatively new to knitting 😊 I love the feel of it already!!!
@@mrbqkc I did the same I had to rip the first one apart and redo it but it looks great now I’m on the second one
This is out of this world pretty! ♥️
I was not planning to do the MKAL, but after seeing how pretty this is, I had to put my WIP aside and cast on. I am a week late, but I am in no hurry.
Thanks for exciting so many people with you creativity. You make knitting fun and push our boundaries. I humbly thank you. Much love from Spain.
Loving the design so far, knitting engineer mastermind Stephen always surprises me and never fails in bringing joy to the worldwide knitting community, especially in these times when we need reminding that we are not alone and can make friends by working together to create.
This is my first MKAL ever, and I’ve been knitting since I was eight years old 😂. To say I’m excited is an understatement. I’ve only watched section one but I really love how clear the instructions are and also that Stephen doesn’t go too slow to hold interest.
It's my first MKAL too, but what have I been doing??! This is so fun!!! It will definitely not be my last I'm getting SO excited 🎉🎉
Welcome! I'm glad the tutorial is helpful.
Totally agree with Stephen's support and inspiration!!!!!!
Steven you are greatful, the shawl ist so beuatyful. It is my First Cal 😅😊
Me too! First time😅
This is my third MKAL and love that this pushes me to learn new techniques and structure but there's always detailed help if I get stuck or just doubt that I'm doing it right :) Thank you for always giving such clear demonstrations of the skills!
You are so welcome!
This is my first MKAL with Stephen, and I'm really enjoying it - I don't want to put it down. Love the clear instructions, and it's great having the video to check that I'm doing things correctly.
I'm so glad that you are enjoying it!
This is my first MKAL and first shawl. I was excited to start but terrified, too! After watching the whole video before casting on I'm raring to go, and only a wee bit apprehensive and a big bit excited! I'm using Cookston Crafts yarn in a mix of Merino/silk and Merino/silk/cashmere. Thanks, Stephen, for your excellent instructions.
This is my 3rd or 4th MKAL. I just wanted to say that Stephen West always gives you clear instructions. He is the best.
will this be a difficult one I am not experienced knitter?
The video walks you through step-by-step, so I like to say that it's for an adventurous beginner. You can also watch the videos and join in later once you've seen some of the techniques.
Hello. I’m from Türkiye. I can’t understand needles number. Please write for me.
@@nerminmaktav4261hi dear, i am doing it with 4 mm needle, but you can also use 3,5 mm. That’s what he recommended: 3,5 or 4. You can see that on the introduction vídeo, good luck and have fun! 🧶🧶🧶
@@georgiahillstrom7364 I did my first MKAL in 2022 as the 4th or 5th project I knit. 2023 was my 8th or 9th. Definitely not super experienced but the tutorials make it easy if you stick to it.
This is only my second MKAL, but oh my goodness I'm so excited! Both this year and last year, I've tried to go for yarns I haven't used before and very excited to be using La Bien Aimee this year. Thank you so much to you and your team for the work you put into this for us knitters, Stephen! X
How fun! LBA is lovely to work with.
Making that bubble stitch tight is a good clue! Your supportive videos are essential to the pattern!! I learned the (loose) hard way !!
Thank you Stephen for your incredible instruction videos! I’m enjoying the KAL and your written instructions are great, but the videos really help clarify the instructions ❤ Thanks for holding my hand through this amazing knitting puzzle. ❤
I wasn’t going to do this MKAL but after watching the video I was drawn in and dashed out to the yarn store in the weekend. On to my first wedge this morning.
This will be my second MKAL, first was Twists and Turns.
Thank you
Welcome! I'm so happy you are enjoying the project.
I don’t wear shawls but this is definitely worth watching to see how it develops. It’s looking great so far😊
MKAL 2024 will have to wait. Unfortunately my hands are seizing up so I'm not able to knit but a few stitches at a time but I have no tension control. Hopefully I can knit again one day but I will follow on the videos and cheer everyone on from the sidelines ❤
I'm sorry your hands are stiff but it's still fun to follow along and see other people's shawls. I hope you do get your hands back working and can knit again even if it's not MKAL ❤
@@theeggtimertictic1136 thank you so much, its a journey. So far, I've not found answers.
I hope you improve soon. I'd be lost without knitting❤
This is probably going to come out wrong but I think I just fell in love with you! I never want to knit another project without knitting along with you. I feel so much more confident in how a designer intends the project is supposed to be knit. (And as I am typing this you reveal that there are three, yes 3!, half circles on waste yarn and I dropped my phone!) I am calmer. I am pausing the video and will be back after I catch up. I still love you as a terrific designer and knitter and new bestie. ❤😂
I started last night but I had to wait till daylight this morning as I couldn't see it properly in the artificial light! My yarn is extremely fine and delicate (maybe not the best choice) but so beautiful knitted up. I'm sticking with this, slowly but surely, even if it takes me the year 😅
I've just finished my 3rd semi circle. Just about to start part 2. It's so exciting to see how it all adds together ❤️
Wonderful! I hope you are enjoying it.
I wasn’t going to do this till I seen this looks amazing. I’ll be late to the party but looks fun.
Welcome!
it’s 3am here but I had to catch at least the first five minutes while I got my yarn wound! can’t wait to cast on tomorrow!
This makes me so happy! This is my second Mkal but I have knitted ‘shawlography’ as well and partook with the Hyberknitting last year. Such beautiful shawls and lovely community. Have fun everybody!! ❤
Loving the 2024 Mkal so far. This is my 2nd Mkal and also knitted the YAL this year. Most of my projects are given to family and friends. Lucky them!! I have been a Stephen West fan for years. ❤
First Stephen West MKAL for me. I love it already! Plus, this tutorial is amazing!!!!! So glad I decided to do it.
Yay, welcome!
So pretty!! I NEED to make this!
Please do!
I don't really love not knowing what I am making, because I really am a planner. Thus I stared to make slipstravaganza and am in the middle of clue 2. But I adore how this looks, so I put some yarn in a pot and will join once it is washed and dried (going for black and fusha). :)
I'm really enjoying this, I've nearly finished my last semi-circle.
Well I’m ready for bed on day one and have 2 and a half of my half circles. Thank you for the work you do Stephen’ loving this so far!!!!
So amazing to be part of this wunderful MKAL session again. It is my third time and it is always a pleasure and so much fun. Thank you Stephen for your wunderful design and the gorgeous videos, they are helping so much. All the best for you. Greatings from Germany.
My third MKAL! I’m over the moon with excitement!😊
I am done with the first clue on time for the first time in forever. GIVE US CLUE 2 nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww 💃🏽
My third one and finally I can actually start on the day! Yay
This looks so fun. I’m still not doing the KAL (hopefully one day!) but I always enjoy watching the videos because they’re so informative and well done.
This looks really interesting & fun. So glad I joined the MKAL - Thank you !!
So clever, love your tutorials, they are so easy to follow, thank you ❤🧶x
Glad you like them!
Hi from Norway! I am joining the mkal for the very first time and am so excited and full of awe.
Thank you for hosting, Stephen 💜🩷
How exciting! I'm so glad that you are joining us.
Done with clue 1, and cant wait for clue nr 2! Love it this far!! ❤
I'm getting too many stitches after row 25 ! Are we supposed to k2 m1 as before or is that an error and it's supposed to be k3 m1?.... Next morning.... I realised I repeated row 25 a second time when I shouldn't have... back on track now 😅
You are amazing! I'm not knitting the shawl as I don't wear shawls, but so cool to see it developing.
I am always so amazed by your creativity !!! 👏
Thank you very much!
I am always amazed by you creativity and how the end product is so « out of this world ». Wow, I can make it! This is my third MKAL.
Woohoo! I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the pattern. It's going to be such a fun design.
OMG your work is beautiful ❗️I don’t know how you do this. I could not do this !
Thank you! You can absolutely do it
So excited for this!! I wanted to confirm which of my yarns to use as MC and CC and after seeing this clue I know what to do!
First MKal for me as well, so happy to do it! But I think it will take me much more than a month. Thanks for the video, I would be lost without it.
No worries! Embrace your own pace and enjoy the process!
I'm ready to go!! 🥳🥳 Thank you so much, Stephen! I wait for this every year!
looks like japanese traditional pattern 青海波🌊💕
Well this is going to be fiddly, but I really enjoy learning new techniques with the MKALs each year. I’ve seen those bubbles before, however…
It’s going to be good fun.
Love this time of the year and this MKAL ❤
This is my first Mkal!
You’re amazing, Stephen!
I like the look of this one so far. Unfortunately, I can't start mine straight away this year. I have been commissioned to crochet a 6' x 6' blanket.
So I will watch along and see everyone else's shawls come together, and begin mine as soon as I possibly can.
Thank you for another exciting mystery, Stephen
I always look forward to October now, as I know I will have a beautiful new shawl in time for Christmas
So excited to get started!
Looks like a fun knit. Waiting for my CC to arrive so I ca get started. I knew I wouldn’t finish I time anyway but excited to join the fun!
I love the cast on from the go go Dynamo Shawl. So surprising ....... what .....will coming next ? Can not wait to beginning. Stephen you are soo creative and for me the best ever.
Best time of the year!!!
Watching at work. Can’t wait til I get home to cast on!
I love the look of this part one. Tanks Stephen
Great tutorial! Looks fun and here we go!
Hope you enjoy it!
This is my 4th MKal but my first time NOT fast forwarding the video to get any spoilers.! Wish me luck I can hold out hehe. I will have to stay off of Facebook so I don’t see it accidentally.
Good luck!
Excited to start this! As a leftie, I'm never quite sure what I need to reverse, or whether I can just follow the pattern as is, and it will work out okay. For example: when I get to section 2, will I be starting at the right corner to slip the last thirty stitches on rather than the left?
Go to the ravelry group, link in description, there's a lefties help thread in there. No noise, just questions and help. Best of luck! 😘
This is my first mkal, so excited x
Welcome!
This is my first MKAL, thanks!
Exciting! I hope you are enjoying it so far.
My first KAL too. I love it 😊, Soňa
Welcome to the MKAL family!
Let the knitsanity begin
Looks beautiful already!
I just put them on another needle. So they will be easy to pick up later. I may have four 3.25 mm needles…🤭
I love the bubbles. I'm doing a project with similar bubbles right now.
I'm not sure I'll ever be brave enough for a mkal though
You can do it!
Want to do this so bad but nead to finish last yers first just started clue 4 so hopefully get it finished by end of year. Then I can look at starting this one. Xxx
No worries! Embrace your own pace and have fun.
on the right hand side of the garter sections you do not have to remove and replace the marker - you should be able to just slip it
Maravilloso y muy entretenido
Well, this is my 2nd mkal and I've watched to 29 minutes, it's a challenge, yeah, thank you. Lol.❤🎉😅
You can do it! Take it row by row. :)
@@StephenWest wow, thank you stephen. I'm surely going to enjoy this one.
Ready to Go Go Dynamo! 🎉
Oh my. This looks fun. And challenging.
Just watched the first clue and I’m just over the moon excited. This is my first MKAL. Luv luv luv you Stephen …. Your instructions are the best and easy to follow along. I had to stop knitting for 6 years and I’m thrilled to be able to pick up my needles again and go crazy
Welcome! Have fun.
Amazing clue 1! Question - how do you keep your 2 yarns from getting all tangled? I always have to untwist after 2-4 rows so it won’t be a hot mess or tangled with the needles and section on waste yarn. Thanks.
Stephen, that sweater looks wonderful on you! Is it one of your patterns?
Thank you! Yes, it's my Briornate Sweater. It's so cozy. www.westknits.com/products/briornate-sweater?_pos=2&_psq=Briornate&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Looks quite complicated, but fun to do 😜
You are the best. It’s marvelous
Aw, thanks!
Those bubbles are fun!
I can't wait to get there ... I'm quite slow 😊
This is my first mkal. Should be interesting as I only learned to knit in July
You've got this!
Happy MKAL Day! Hope to cast on today. Good luck to all!😊
This is going to be my first MKAL - before I start, how much of each yarn do we need?
2 colours of fingering weight yarn, 200 g of each colour
@@chrishunter7760 Thank you so much
Hi-i‘m from Germany and sorry: my English is not good 🫣 i saw this wonderful KAL yesterday evening on Facebook. Is it possible that i can starting the KAL now or it is to late? I ❤the knitting pattern and the colours of the Woll 🧶 can i buy the knitting instructions in a Shop, maybe ravelry? Thanks a lot 😊
What brand and color is the darker yarn you are using? Very pretty and love first clue!
I'm using Walk Collection Cottage Merino in Orange Punch & Powder
I’m on the 2nd garter stitch stripe and my yarn is getting all twisted with the needles, sections, ends and was wondering how do you manage your yarn to keep it from getting all tangled thanks.
Wow🎉🎉🎉🎉 This is my first MKAL so excited ❤❤❤❤
So excited! Thanks, Stephen!
Well this looks fun…
Did anyone get the pattern in their Ravelry library yet?
I just sent the update so it should arrive in your inbox soon.
Yes
Thank you!
Yes.
Yeah
this is my first MKAL also I am having some trouble following since I am left handed the wrong side should be the purl side and the right side knit?
If the pattern says "knit" then, regardless of whether you are left or right-handed, knit. Similarly if the pattern says "purl" you purl. Your right and wrong sides will be the same as a right hander's.
What differs for you is that if the pattern says, "Begin picking up stitches from the top right corner" (for example), you would begin picking stitches up from the top left corner. I find laying things out and/or drawing pictures can help you to work out what's going on.
Source: left handed crocheter, I do the occasional bit of left handed knitting to avoid turning the work around to purl 3 stitches and my training was as a mathematician which which includes geometry and the like.
I love this MKAL !!!!!
Woh this will become epic!
Just in time on my birthday 🙂
Happy Birthday!
Hello! Thanks so much.
@@StephenWest I LOVE!!
I love ❤ this
Oof.. 😂 i had to redo all of garter stripe one because my stitch count was off. Dunno why its giving me so much trouble when the semicircles went fine...
Oh no! You can always fudge it a little by doing an extra increase or decrease.
One rainbow=3 hours lol long week ahead! ❤ 🎉
