Hi from NY. I am a new viewer and enjoyed your knits very much. You are an excellent colorwork knitter. Your Marie Wallin is my favorite. Looking forward to watching past episodes.

Hi Mercedes! I'm new here and let me tell you I love your way of showing us your beautiful makes! I also like the way you acknowledge the original inhabitants of your region, maybe you can talk a little bit more about them. Greetings from Tennessee, USA✨✨

Hello Raquel. Thanks for watching and commenting. It’s great to know where you are watching from. I’m glad you appreciate the land acknowledgement. In my latest episode I’ve linked to my city’s explanation of their land acknowledgment, to help provide a little more context for those interested. I’m not knowledgeable enough myself to talk about the culture or land claims of the Anishinaabek in this area (and I’m not sure it is my place to do so), but I do know that there are still many ongoing land claims that are not recognized or that have been violated and not honoured. Acknowledging those who have been displaced and who are still fighting for their home land, the land I also call home, is truly the very least I can do.

Hi! I’m enjoying your podcast and I have subscribed so that I can see more. I like the knitting that you have shown and the comments that you have made with each project. I particularly like the colours that you have chosen for your brother-in-law’s sweater. I’m watching you from Peterborough, Ontario.

Hi there, Mercedes. I just discovered your lovely channel! Your colour work is so beautiful, I keep wanting to try Lettlopi yarn, but I'm sensitive to woolly wools. It does look so lovely though! What a shame about your twisty yarn. You are so dedicated to want to start all over again, but it will be worth it in the end. Looking forward to your next episode. Take care, and I hope you shake off your cold soon! Love from Scotland, xx

Maybe try watching Sun Dragon Tips and Tricks videos on her doing the Ranunculus. She shows how to do the short rows. I am really wanting to knit this sweater. Still watching and listening many knitters who have done so. Yours are very pretty!

I have not knit a sweater in single ply but I get the feeling that it works best at a looser gauge… I certainly had no idea that it would twist so much so thanks for that!!

I’ve knit one other sweater in a single from Briggs and Little at a tighter gauge - no problem. I think this yarn is just more tightly spun and that’s the issue. I mean I think that’s it - there’s always the possibility that I made an error 🤷🏻‍♀️
But yes I agree with you, a looser gauge might work well for this yarns second incarnation as an accessory!

oh my goodness, thats so interesting about the single yarn effect on the woodfords! I always wondered what people meant when they talked about it so now we can see it... so interesting thank you for sharing it with us...

I must tell you that I enjoy your podcasts. Thank you. I am watching from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I enjoy knitting quite a lot but also crochet, sew and handmade pottery. I enjoyed a business handcrafting organic soaps. I must say that I am so disappointed with your sweater, I know you are also. I love it. I will be the first person “in line” to purchase the pattern. I will see you again soon when you feel much better. I am no longer knitting for myself but only completing Christmas knitting. However, my personal knitting list and yarn haul seems to be growing (smile).

hi . I have a few yarns- lettlopi.. I read it doesnt have good stitch definition. I want to mix it with mohair. does it help? what wool yarn (Aaron) is good for lace?

Hello. It’s true that lopi knits up with a fuzzy appearance, because of the long hairs that it contains. Mixing it with mohair will only make it fuzzier! If you’re looking for good stitch definition for a lace project, I would recommend a worsted spun, smoother yarn, perhaps a merino or some thing mixed with silk or bamboo. It’s easy to tell whether or not yarn is smooth when it’s in the skain at the shop. If it feels smooth and you can perceive the twist in the strand and each strand stands out from the next, it’ll likely have a good stitch definition. Also, you should choose a yarn that has more than two plies. The more the better!
