  • I had to delete and then re upload this video because of a problem with some of the sound tracks I used... I tried to change things but it was to no avail and had to delete the whole video...
So a massive apology to those who commented and liked the original..UA-cam is a steep learning curve for me at the moment.
    Anyway...The model.
Italeri make some great helicopter models and this is no exception. I wouldn't say it is a beginner kit though. Putting the fuselage halves together was a bit troublesome as there are multiple parts to do this but it didn't need any filler which is a good thing. I didn't video this process as it took so long and super glue came in handy. Don't forget to coat the clear parts inside with a decal solution or something similar, before using super glue or it will cause frosting on them, (turn them white).
Another thing that is missing from the video is my use of wire insulation to go onto the motor shaft, to make it wider.. Checkout some of my other video's for this (my TR9 and Chinook video show it) as I always use the same process. I find it to be a quick easy way to get the props mounted as the shaft is not very wide.
The Ebay listing I bought the motors from has ended but I found another which has the 4mmx12mm motors I used for the rear prop. This is the best size motor to use for this...Don't try to use a shorter 4mmx8mm...
I didn't check to see if they had the other size I used for the main rotor so check their other items.. Note the listing is in the UK but it should give you an indication of what to look for in your country.

Alright Bud, Enjoyed this as usual, Its good how you motorize them. Only built a couple of Italeri kits and they didn't fit all that well, that's why I avoid them, but this looked ok. Bye 4 now

Hi Steve...Thanks boyo...I built a few Italeri kits these past months and I never had an issue with them until this one...In fairness..this kit has 4 or 5 parts that make up the fuselage so it was never going to be straight forward.
On another note...strange I had to subscribe to your channel again..🤔

Really nice build, Mike. I was in two helicopter minesweeping squadrons but only flew on the previous version of the helicopter, the RH53D. I have this kit and a couple Fujimi kits of the ones I flew on that I hope to get built eventually.. Just FYI in case you're interested, The canopy windows directly over the pilots should be tinted green and the side pods are called sponsons. Hope I can do as well building mine as you have here.

Hi Mark.. Thanks for your comments, glad you like it.
Yeh I knew the top of the canopy was tinted but didn't know how to go about colouring them.
Let me know when you build those models..Would love to see them...

@@307vrr You can probably take an airbrush very lightly airbrush the ceiling windows. Like take a screen of something and you airbrush through the screen so it won't be too thick getting onto the ceiling windows.

I thought Sikorsky blades turned counter-clockwise? Or is the camera view backward? Oh well, nice job!

    EXCELLENT!!!
Mike, I Think I'll 'Subscribe'!!! Great post, a few comments/questions....
    1) Thanks for the link for the 'micro motors', but How bout a video of How to connect the electrical circuits. I have built a few ships in 1/700 with LED lights but VERY Curious on how to 'firmly connect' those leads.....maybe a vid on connecting electrical and resistors at the same time?? 2) What do you use to get the white of the wheel wells So WHITE??!! I want to build A/C but Always had an issue with getting the white Right!! ( get it ), do you prime?? 3) Do you have a video of how to get your wires around the inside of your helos to the bottom of your kits?? Just curious. 4) Lastly, which paint brand(s) do you use, I have been using 'Model Masters - acrylic' but That is GONE....what do you use??
Again, thanks for your time...Good Stuff....Keep it up!!!

      Hi...Thanks for the message.
I use Revell enamels mostly,I find them cheap and I can get them locally without using a postal service...Model shops in my area of the UK are very thin on the ground so it suits me...
The white is Revell SM 301....I usually give it 2 coats...
The internal connections for the motors are soldered and wires fixed to the body with super glue.
      Its that simple.
If it helps others do the same kinda thing then I would be more than happy to do an informative video on motor connections and resistors...but there really isn't much to know.
      Watch this space 😄 Mike

@@307vrr 'Mike'.....Thanks for the Quick Reply, especially the 'white' question and More importantly the wires connections. I'm going to give it a try using a test subject .... just connecting two wires together, then up-da-game and connect a battery pack to LED lights and move onto multiple lights with a battery pack. I'm just concern that the heat would be TOO Much for a pico-sized LED and especially the wires are Quite thin.

I have done a couple of models with lights but I have never had them on long enough to see a problem...You will have to do your own research I'm afraid..I suppose it depends on how much power your using etc..
I never had a problem with my motorised models but I never run them very long...at most its been for about 10-15 mins and put them away...My models run on 1.5v AA batteries so its very little power...Again you will have to do your own research...Mike

@@307vrr Again...Thanks!! I'll try a soldering test and let you know how it goes. I'll check out a couple YT vids.
I too run on AA batts and run for a short time, but I tried to show one of my ships to a friend and 'No Bueno', so I'll give it a try.
Thanks for the advice, I hope to replicate your work, and thanks for passing your talent to others!!! Mario

The motors used are like these..
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354174922665?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vafwyey3tce&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=xt_vaQIvTAa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
      They come in different sizes..
I use a single AA battery and small resistor to slow the props down.
Depending on what size motor you use and what speed you want them to turn defines what resistor you will need...Its all down to prefrence.
I'm sure it shows what was used somewhere in the video....Mike

@@307vrr Do you remember what resistor you used? I'm planning on building an MIL MI-24 and also wanted to motorise the rotor-blades with these little motors at 1.5v but I'm not sure what resistor to use. I assume that without any resistor they would just spin up too fast and break; even at 1.5v instead of 3.7v?

    • @307vrr
      @307vrr  Рік тому +1

@@DanakarEndeel I not 100% sure...I think it was a 10R or possibly 20R...These are the ones I mostly use for helicopters...
But there is no one size fits all...Different props size/weight will effect how fast it spins...Suggest you get a couple of 5R, 10R and maybe 15R so you can test...They are very cheap to buy.....BTW they can be joined together so you can mix and match to get what your looking for..
