Bambi bucket training
The MH-53 and Ch-53 helicopters are beautiful, and I want them to be back in operation for many more decades. They must never be unnecessarily replaced by the king stallion!
The CH-53K is an evolution of the basic CH-53E, but it's been designed as a 21st Century digital warrior aircraft, that will less maintenance intensive than the current CH-53E is, plus it has a greater external load capacity, and a greater internal load capacity as well. It's even been designed to be more survivable, along with having the capability of using data links to receive coordinates in flight.
Very cool. Used to live near this area and see these flying at low altitudes from the bridge in the background when going to norfolk.
My old training squadron.
I would love my country to have this huge chopper as well.
👌👌👌
Please! Onde é a base aérea?
It's just gigantic. It's my dream to fly with it one day. I think he will stay that way :-( . Unfortunately I live in Germany
When did the Navy start repainting their Sea Dragon fleet in medium gray?
Circa 2020. And yes, it looks goofy to us too..
When did they paint them all light grey?
They haven't all been painted light grey. They are painted one at a time as the planes go through depot level overhaul. You can see some of the planes in the background still wear the older darker grey paint.
Aircraft returning from depot at MCAS Cherry Point have been returning to the fleet painted light gray since early 2020
That short line sux, rotor wash blows the bucket all over the place and it looks like the wires never straightened out.
There is only one size line that stretches based on the amount of weight that is being carried. That bucket does not weigh much, relative to the lifting capacity of the system, so the pendant (the line) is not going to stretch very much. The wires are designed to span the length of a fully stretched pendant, so if the pendant is not fully expanded, there is going to be what appears to be extra wire hanging down.
So there’s no such thing as a short line or a long line? Ok bro yea you know what you’re taking about.
@@joecambodia1326 Perhaps we are talking about different things. When it comes to the H-53E single point pendant, there is only one length. There are what are referred to as short cords and long cords used on the aircraft. But those refer to ICS cords, which are the cords used by aircrew to communicate with the pilots. I've only been involved with 53s since 1993. If you have something to teach me, I am always willing to learn something new.
The line between the hook and the bucket is called a short line or a long line depending on its length. In this vid the machine is clearly using a short line. A long line used for firefighting is generally 150’ long but for lifting with a big machine a long line could be upwards of 250’ and have a shock and pendant. No contract fire fighting company would use a short line like the one in the vid for firefighting.
