Talking of 'investiment' is absurd, unless you are a taxi driver that uses it to MAKE money, and then you'll buy an hybrid Toyota. Maserati is a beautiful car, unfortunately, it won't please peasants like the comments below too sophisticated for them to understand, Maserati is art you either get it or you don't.
Maserati has no cache amongst people who actually know cars. Unlike Alfa, which has produced a couple of stunning and high quality models in the past few years, Maserati cars have been sub par attempts at cashing in on the name brand. They've become cheaply made cars meant to impress people who don't know any better.
I have a wealthy friend who bought a 2010 Maserati convertible new. Still has it and it’s never given him any problems, not one. He also purchased (new) a 2014 Maserati Quatraporte. Great car, fast and no problem ever. The guy has driven both cars back and forth to Vegas from LA many many times as he has a home and business there. Both rides must have 80,000 plus miles on them. Both cars still look great and he can’t bring himself to sell either one.
I think Maserati has huge potential, while the usual opposition is boring, drab, mundane, cookie-cutter shapes Maserati is always special and stands out from the crowd! passion, panache personified! has a great pedigree, history, a beautiful badge, and name plus with new electric engines and platforms under Stellantis they will be ultra-reliable and match the best of Japan!
I love my 2016 Gran Turismo, other than an AC compressor (which was replaced under factory warranty) it has given me 51,861 miles of trouble free driving.
I have a ferrari, lamborghini and maserati. I have to say maserati feels the best when driving. Im not sure about in real life but i love using my maserati in my ps4 game
Dunno what everyone is complaining about. I bought a Maserati sarcastically after watching a Doug Demuro video complaining about them, but 3 years later I'm still loving Maserati and not a single problem. I'll be out driving having a blast, while you're here sniffling about NBCs report. LOL!
Maserati makes beautiful cars with horrible build quality and reliability. Until they fix that issue, nobody is going to want to sink $100k into an endless money pit.
I live near a fairly wealthy area, and there are pretty new Maserati Ghiblis and Quattroportes everywhere. The brand appeal is certainly there. Under the "new" ownership of Stellantis, let's hope they iron out the reliability issues. I genuinely don't understand why making a car that you know will start in the morning and also has electrics that *don't* suddenly have a stroke on the highway is such a hard obstacle for some of these manufacturers to clear.
The REASON why you seem more BMW and Audi and Mercedes Benz because there CHEAPER. Most people can only buy 30-50k car and don’t have the money for MAINTENANCE on Maserati. Reliability is the biggest key factor in the auto industry in which Maserati may be failed. People (mass market) love Tesla, Toyota and Honda for this very reason. Recently, Hyundai became a solid rival to capture this mass market for the fact that they provide RELIABLE cars. Normal people don’t like their cars break down when it is their biggest investment. Rich people don’t care when their car break down cause it’s a mere fraction of their overall wealth. So car companies need to understand core needs of the mass market if they want to survive. Even upper middle class, when they decide between Audi, Beamer, Mercedes etc...reliability is the key factor in their decision making process...

A brand like Maserati would have thrived and cherished under a parent group that actually knows what they are doing, like Volkswagen. Volkswagen resurrected Bentley by introducing the Continental GT and Continental Flying Spur, saved Porsche by introducing the Cayenne, and boosted Lamborghini sales by making the Urus. Maserati still has great growth potential, but it needs a PROPER parent company like Volkswagen if it wants to rekindle its success.

I think although down in number of sake is bad signal, it’s important to keep their reputation as luxury. If we see those car everywhere, we regard them as mass production mobility. For the reason, it’s also crucial to cut the number of sale intentionally.
Styling, driving experience and uniqueness factor are all there. Now its time for them to actually put QUALITY tech and lay out a higher quality interior in there vehicles. Stop scamming people.

@@germanogirardelli What car out there is the same price as a bike LMAO
Miata is always the answer
A car is not an investiment.
Even the best ones depreciate like 30% in a few years. It's a consumer good. Talking of 'investiment' is absurd, unless you are a taxi driver that uses it to MAKE money, and then you'll buy an hybrid Toyota.
An Hybrid Toyota is a great rational buy, but the roads are instead full of Porsche Cayenne on finance.
Why?
Because people like to BURN their money on NICE stuff.
If you do not have money do not think about MASERATI. Keep your toyota for the entire short life and stop dreaming.
I bought a QP back in 2008 as my daily driver to my Ferrari, absolutely the worst car I ever owned, window switches went out 3 times, I got stuck in the rain driving home with windows down unable to roll up. Event worse was over $100k car was traded in for $35k in 4 yrs, never again. My next car was Bentley Flying Spur and definitely best car I’ve owned so far.
Maserati is a beautiful car, unfortunately, it won't please peasants like the comments below too sophisticated for them to understand, Maserati is art you either get it or you don't.
Don't call it a 'Comeback'. They've been here for years!
Late model Quattroporte raced by me just the other day, glorious sound.
Stunning exteriors, ridiculously cheap looking interiors.
Maserati has no cache amongst people who actually know cars. Unlike Alfa, which has produced a couple of stunning and high quality models in the past few years, Maserati cars have been sub par attempts at cashing in on the name brand. They've become cheaply made cars meant to impress people who don't know any better.
I am a Ghibli owner. I find very pleasant to drive in the German highway and I don't regret to have Ghibli.
Six years ownership. Run just fine and fast.
Thank you for speaking up
Oh, I remember old French guy who bought brand new 1982 Maserati Biturbo, the engine blew up a week later.
Maserati sales are down because of Doug Demuro.
lol
He certainly influenced my view of Maserati
All this hate on Maserati have NEVER owned one. Enthusiastic people like me love Maserati 🇮🇹. Such a nice looking car , HEAD TURNER.
Think it's brand awareness that's the problem. People know Ferrari and Lamborghini.
I should buy that Scia di Persia or Shah of Persia/IRAN model, wow, legendary.
buy the version that was exactly the same, just with a not one-off, but better looking body: the 5000GT
Top honors in the auto depreciation charts
A Quattroforte passed me one day in Marietta, GA. It was trying to race a Stang GT. My mouth watered. I was driving a Honda Odyssey.
Maserati is emotion❤️ not just a car company.
Maybe when they start making good cars, they'll have their comeback
the V8 Quatrroporte is my dream car
I like the name & the logo, also the fact that there aren't many daily drivers, their vehicle's style and tech better continue to improve.
I have a ferrari, lamborghini and maserati. I have to say maserati feels the best when driving. Im not sure about in real life but i love using my maserati in my ps4 game
They need to put the Alfieri in this comeback combined with the MC20 and the new Granturismo.. Now that's a comeback!!!!
The alfieri will still teased when the MC20 starts production
BMW, Audi , Mercedes oil change is only $150-200 , for a Maserati its $500!!!! It’s Italian, you got to have money to own these cars. The Ghibli starts at 70k!!! Big difference, I LOVE my Maserati. Turns heads and compliments everyday. I’ve owned luxury brands but Maserati my favorite 🇮🇹
@@alexejvornoskov6580 I know about cars, but how many S Class Mercedes do you see on the road? Thank you... You see always the c class and maybe e class max... That’s it
@@alexejvornoskov6580 Again that is simply YOUR opinion. I think the opposite, here in Southern California in the rich areas I see Maserati more than BMW... Here in USA the majority of auto mechanic shops don’t touch a Maserati because of liability. BMW oil change at the dealership is only $160.. Maserati oil change at the dealership is $550. Big difference. It’s Italian
@@thewiseguy7100 So you play many times more for an oil change on a car that is out of date style wise and have a subpar interior compared to its competitors. And you see this as a plus? Be honest, you own a Ghibli don’t you?
@@DaGoook I actually own a AMG GLE 63 and Porsche Panamera and my Maserati Ghibli SQ4. I have an honest opinion of the car because I OWN one currently and have OWNED bmw Mercedes and Audi before .. Oil change I don’t pay for it , because I do the service on all my cars myself. Answer me this , why do Mercedes , bmw and Audi owner still compliment an outdated car? That’s right because it looks and feels good. I garage keep all 3 of my cars.
@@thewiseguy7100 Many of the mainstream German luxury cars owners in So Cal don’t really know much about their cars. So yes I’m not surprised you get compliments from a car noob whom drives a generic A4 or 5 series etc. And while I believe it makes you “feel good” the bottom line is the price you pay new for a Ghibli is not up to par with what you can get from Audi/Porsche. Mercedes are starting to mess up their interiors by going EV style and every BMW has a similar interior unfortunately.
Maserati will start selling Peugeots to make a comeback
Yes, that's a surely winning strategy :-)
Ferraris, not Peugeot’s
@Brutal Attack "pairing up" = using Peugeot parts everywhere
The Grand Turismo is the most beautiful car ever made. They should do a video in Genesis
"Most beautiful car every made" i know everyone is entitled to their opinion but the Gran Turismo isn't even the most beautiful car Maserati has ever made, i mean seriously we're talking about the brand that made the mc12, the quattroporte(1963), and recently the mc20
Hope Maserati rises again and lives Upto its name
Reliability is the biggest key factor in the auto industry in which Maserati may be failed. People (mass market) love Tesla, Toyota and Honda for this very reason. Recently, Hyundai became a solid rival to capture this mass market for the fact that they provide RELIABLE cars. Normal people don’t like their cars break down when it is their biggest investment. Rich people don’t care when their car break down cause it’s a mere fraction of their overall wealth. So car companies need to understand core needs of the mass market if they want to survive.
Even upper middle class, when they decide between Audi, Beamer, Mercedes etc...reliability is the key factor in their decision making process...
there are many unreliable cars that sell well so that isn't really the reason.
@@kristians2704 selling well and being a market leader are two different things. I worked in auto sector as a designer and during each new survey, Reliability comes in the top for choosing the brand for more than 70% of the users. Might be different case in Europe though.
Buddy, those car makers you've listed aren't as 'reliable' as you'd like to think. Tesla has very big QA issues, Honda has been know for years to not be reliable, ask the Odessy owners with the transmission issues and the 1.8T owners with coolant dilution in the engine oil. Also, I see more Toyotas in my shop than I do Jeeps lmao.
Tesla reliable? What a joke
#1 depreciation!
#1 depression!
I don't think Scotty would approve.
If I can’t buy one for 3000$ with 60k miles on it, it ain’t worth my time
I worked at a dealership and we got in a well maintained and great condition 2015 Maserati Ghibli on trade one day. I was surprised at how cheap looking/feeling the interior was. It was like a slightly nicer Chrysler 300. Such a disappointment.
That's what it is basically. The engine block was made in Detroit starting in 2014 and the Maserati diesel engine is a modified Chrysler Pentastar.
I own Stellantis stocks so they better be having a comeback
I think they hope to get into the US market with Peugeot Citroen, a big risk but now Trump has gone... well for the moment?
@@lffit the French are building amazing cars these days, I think they actually might be successful in the US!
They will not come to the US anymore. Peugeot has planned to go back in North America by 2023-2026 but has cancelled its plans as Stellantis detains a large market share in this region, with Jeep, Dodge, RAM, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Fiat/Abarth. Why would they bring another competitor against this massive presence ?
Plus french cars are too small for the american market - it will struggle as Fiat does - they're also built with little powered engine that are way too far to be suitable on US roads...
@@vanessaoelmann4211 yes they really picked up their game, turning Opel into profit making, one issue currently is their 3 cylinder engine is problematic, but I am sure they will sort it out, said by me a Ford fan lol
Maserati will always be my go to car.
Moving from 5k to 50k vehicle sales in a short period.. Maserati wasn't yet ready.. that explains the lag in facelifts and major tech innovation.. We love the brand with all its flaws including the Dodge window switches.. The engine, gear, the roar and the iconic trident are enough to compensate for everything else!
A comeback without a single hint of any ev adoption or upgrade simply mean extinction
with stellantis should be great, mc 20 its awesome car and that its the first sign of new direction.... let's wait the grecale looks good already it should be very high quality material
100k and I'm buying a Model S Plaid. 140k and I'm buying Model S Plaid +...200....roadster...in 3 years luxury ICE cars will shrink smaller and smaller as it becomes an ever shrinking niche market....they will have to combine companies or raise prices to survive at all...
Just a random opinion from UA-cam gotta love it
😂😂😂😂😂
Cool vid. I love the history behind the founding of Maserati
Their cars depreciate like a stone. They have to do something about that. Loosing 70% of value within 5 years is too much.
I have faith they will come back on top. But there’s work to be done. Especially quality control and customer service
Lamborghini quality has greatly improved due to German ownership. Amazing when we see how close North Italy is to South Germany. Still, German engineering is better than Italian.
Good. About time.
They used to be the luxury comfort sports car of Italy. Similar to how the Jaguar was once and returned to in Britain
I love the style of Maserati vehicles. Not cookie cutter like Audi or Mercedes. Reliability is the most important thing to me though so unless I feel like that is part of the package with these beautiful stylish cars I won't buy one.
Maserati engines (Ferrari derived) are very reliable better than the opposition.
I think although down in number of sake is bad signal, it’s important to keep their reputation as luxury. If we see those car everywhere, we regard them as mass production mobility. For the reason, it’s also crucial to cut the number of sale intentionally.
Maserati Ghibli is my perfect car: elegant, comfortable, fun to drive, beautiful.
Styling, driving experience and uniqueness factor are all there. Now its time for them to actually put QUALITY tech and lay out a higher quality interior in there vehicles. Stop scamming people.
The grand turismo and quattroporte were a step in the right direction , they then screwed up by launching a ghibli even with a disel engine
Never going to happen until they create reliable vehicles.
I have been saying this since forever ago. By example, Lambo Urus owners grab the same door handle, feel the same steering wheel, sit in the same seats as Audi Q8 owners who paid over 100k less.
When Bruce Willis told Arnold in the Expandable 3 You've been back enough time now get in the car!!!!! Maserati and Jaguar are facing a similar kinda fate.
Im hope that all European Car brands will survive.
European and American car makers for some reason can't make a reliable car to save their lives. Hell the American ones pretty much gave up on making sedans in general.
Euro have nice styling though. Just look at Audi.
@@peaceable263 if they made durable reliable cars they wouldn’t make as much money

As for the older American car makers, only Dodge makes sedans worth a dame. I'm still disappointed with them for discontinuing the Dart. It was the domestic competitor for the Honda Civic in my eyes. I now own a 2020 Honda Civic. I love driving and I have to drive sedans. Chevy cars aren't any good but the Corvettes are nice although they're a bit pricey for me. At that point I'd opt for a Audi A6 with options and still have money left over. Ford Fusion eh and I'll take a Challenger over a Mustang any day.

What are you talking about?!
I have owned 3 Maserati's, they have so many issues from high service costs to rapid car depreciation. They will not address these issues so the brand will just continue to suffer, when you can buy used for 60% off after 3 years you have a big problem.
I’ve owned more than 12 luxury new cars in my short life, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Infiniti , Lexus. They were all okay but nothing special. I love my Maserati Ghibli SQ4, fast and 4 door car .
I saw 3 of these cars yesterday on the freeway. I assumed they were doing well.
All 3 combined had a value of 30 grand lmao
1. Increase reliability.
2. Lower MSRP by 15%.
3. Change model every 8 years, not 15.
Then we will talk.
A good place to start. Quality Control.
I would love maserati to make a comeback hope stelleantis don't mess it up
Stellantis is the fourth largest car manufacturer in the world and they "need" a top luxury brand: they will step up Maserati to where it belongs, competing with high-end Mercedes and A good step above BMW. The group has now Alfa Romeo (sporty) and DS (comfy) to compete on the Audi-BMW-Average Mercedes and Maserati will not need to create car that the average Joe can afford. It will be back to where it belongs: late sixties market positioning.
