Absolutely stunning room! I always say the smaller room projects have the most "wow factor" because they require the most creativity. Well done! #inspired
Congrats Mark. I hope you and your family are enjoying this beautiful theater quite often. Kudos to the team and company that did the build. Well done.
Should have done 16x9 screen with masking for 2.40 movies. Scope movies would look the same, and 1.85 moves wouldn't be cropped. You can see in the Avatar 2 clip, that the cropping misframes the shot, cutting off tops of heads. Lots of height space on that front wall not being utilized, especially when you're watching full screen movies that would have used that extra screen real estate.
I love your videos and reviews. And with every video of yours, I also get to see a different movie demo worth watching and collection. Love from India 🇮🇳
Very nicely done dedicated home cinema room 🎬 I see you have the front left & right in-wall speakers correctly angled to the seating listening position. Only seen a few others like Home Theater Gurus correctly do this with their front left & right in-wall's.

I did not know vertical mirror mounts existed, that is really neat! One question though, doesn’t the NZ8 take in air from the front and exhaust out the rear, and if so, wouldn’t that be detrimental to the NZ8 when installed like that? Seems like it would be exhausting hot air out of the bottom adding further heat onto the projector as it rises, and then that hot air would be sucked back into the intake hurting it further? My NZ7/RS2100 is designed this way so I am assuming the NZ8 is the same.
Is it not the other way around. The air is sucked in from the back and out of the front! Plus there is air conditioning behind the panels that keeps everything nice and cool when the system is in operation. The vertical mirror mount is amazing tool to achieve the throw ration needed. Without it the screen would have been much smaller and the projector would have been above without the sound reduction properties of the insulated central panel to reduce noise at the listening position
@@markmes5890 🤦♂️you are right, thats what I get for firing off a comment too quickly while distracted at work and forgetting how my own projector works 🤣. Ok that mirror trick for the projector is genius. I may have to do that for my living room "theater" that's not that large already. I was thinking of doing a regular throw but the layout I have now, I have atmos speakers pointed towards me at the back, and their sound would be blocked somewhat if I went with a ceiling mount. Very beautiful design! I wonder if the projector would work safely mounted vertically though? Bulbs have a cooling flap that might not activate in that position or will it?
This is a laser. 700 hours and no problems at all. The back panelling where the projector is has air conditioning too. The air is pulled from the rear to the front and I can feel good airflow. All is good as far as I know. We’ve had confirmation it will be fine
@Mark The machine as a whole would definitely be fine, missed the fact it's laser and honestly I don't know how direct the laser cooling is and if its like on the bulbs coming from a super small rectangular hole. Logically despite being laser a force cooling type should still be applied and the power draw and heat are still serious.
Got a personal demo of the MadVR Envy a few months back and it blew my mind. The difference is truly astronomical. It's a very expensive component to add on (roughly $15,000 AUD) but I guarantee that the image quality difference will astound people. It makes even mid level projectors look like very high end units. I would go so far as to suggest that anyone looking to upgrade their existing projector to instead take a look at spending that money on a MadVR video processor. It will make most existing setups look like a million bucks.
You are not wrong! The envy extreme is roughly £15,000 so imagine it would be double or thereabouts in price in Australia. Are you referring to the Envy Pro?
Love this room. A dream a lot of time, effort, and money.. what would something like this cost? And the projector where is it placed it looks like a short throw
The projector is a JVC NZ8 and not an UST projector. It is mounted vertically at the back of the room instead or horizontally as I needed it further away to get a bigger picture. Without the vertical mount the screen would have been a little smaller than I would have liked
Beautiful end game theater. What is the difference between the Bluestream switching sources and the trinnov? I have a trinnov, but want to know what are the benefits to having a Bluestream? There is not enough content on this hardware.
The brustream is a media matrix which manages all source devices. All inputs such as the zappiti, Apple TV, blu ray player etc go in and the unit allows me to send the media to any tv in the house via Ethernet (HDBaseT) or to the trinnov via HDMI. On this it can manage up to 8 source devices, distributed to 8 outputs
The source devices can be automatically switched if you have the likes of a savant processor or manually via your phone. For instance I could have the zappiti playing in my living if I don’t want to watch in the cinema or when I’m sat in the living room I can switch by to the CCTV system. You don’t need it really if you just want to watch your source devices in cinema room only.
It's beautiful. I don't want to think about how much it must have cost. My only criticism apart from the excessive cost would be that it doesn't have any room for guests. I'm not the most social person by a longshot, but I would rather have a friend than a home theater if I had to choose.
Cheers Daniel. Instead of my wife and son I regularly have two of my best friends around to watch obi wan, Andor and other season premieres as well as a few movies to date and football matches in this room. It gets plenty of friend usage believe me. The rest of the time its just me in all honesty. Best to have 3 great sounding seats rather than six compromised ones!
Great video Tony This project was such a pleasure, mainly because Mark is a fantastic client. He was open to our ideas and receptive to the engineering required to deliver the ultimate movie experience. This room could easily have been 7-8 seats and all of them mediocre. We had to remove his planned 2nd row to create the space to put speakers in the correct place, create large areas of bass absorption at the front and back, as well as multiple layers of sound isolation. It takes a leap of faith to commit to a build of this scale for just 3 seats, but he’s been rewarded with a staggeringly good room. Surely one of the best ‘small room’ cinemas ever built.
Brilliant room. My own room is similar in that I am catering to three seats as well, presets on the Altitude for all 3 as well, but I always keep it on the middle seat :) Trinnov is next level.
Stunning room. Dream home theater for sure. Soon trinnov as well as Dirac will release room correction system upgrade that aims to render sound proofing not needed - it will be interesting to see.
Not sound proofing but room acoustics. It will remedy the effects of room modes, but I believe only from a bass management perspective and won’t be right for all circumstances. Getting the room right acoustically will always and forever be the first requirement towards great sound
whitecrowuk575 Dirac are releasing Active Room Treatment (ART) this spring firstly for Storm Audio processors. @@C--A I’ve actually heard that trinnov already announced something similar. Processing with Dirac is not a problem as it’s done on computer - then filter is created that is pretty straightforward. The only difference here is when one channel plays X frequency, filter will say play other speaker with this delay, spl and frequency inverted. So implementation is rather demanding. so might be only future products will get it and like you said next year at the earliest. In regards to room treatment - ART is supposed to deal with lower frequencies under 150 - so killing off lingering bass and room modes (Rel won’t like it) - which is good as it always was most difficult to treat properly- higher frequencies wall panels will do just fine. Btw you can have StormAudio isp core 16 for only 12600…
Honest question, but why do most cinema builds opt for 2.38/35:1 over 1.90/85:1 i know most movies are in the 2.38 version but isnt it better to go for the larger aspect ratio incase theres tv content or imax enhanced movies?
That home theater looks freakin' cool, but why no Double Bass Array? It works way better than every bass trap. The principle is that a completely even bass pressure wave is guided from the front to the back and is then actively canceled there
Cheers 🍻 hopefully the designer Ben Goff will answer your question soon 👍🏻 The bass has been properly designed, believe me! It wouldn’t have even made the shortlist at the CEDIA awards if that wasn’t right.
I do like DBA as a solution, but it wasn’t a suitable option for this room. With a single row of seats, the listening area is quite small. We were able to find positions for the subwoofers through modelling where we believed we could provide even seat to seat response at each seat. This was confirmed with significant testing during the build process to ensure the positions did in fact deliver what we required. Sure a DBA could be used, but it’s vastly inefficient from a budget perspective. The quality of bass is still dependent upon the quality of each individual subwoofer. Despite how it may appear, there was not unlimited budget here. Every single penny of budget was under constant consideration to maximise overall performance and minimise compromises. When you can’t just magic more funds out of thin air, more subs would have meant worse subs. To what end..? We already have the frequency extension, significant SPL headroom and even seat to seat response that we targeted…
So close to perfect in so many ways. But why oh why are there bright LED strips right by the screen? Even when they’re off, the reflections off the housing are visible. You can tell that if those were not there, the screen would float in this perfect sea of blackness. #soclose
The bright LED lights face away from the screen and the housing is a dark grey suede material. The video makes the light reflection look brighter than what it actually is in person. It is minimal and I certainly don’t notice it. You are right that I could of removed those front panels and the screen would possible reflected less, but I wouldn’t have been able to stop there as the side walls are actually a light grey fabric! Do I then go for technical perfection and make the whole space black? This room is part of my house for the whole family to enjoy. The brief for the room was that it had to have a wow factor. A place I would want to come to watch sports, tv shows, listen to spatial audio and generally a nice place to be….. and it is. I love just sitting in there. And the experience is epic!
@@markmes5890 It is epic and I really meant it when I said it was close to perfect! Very nicely done. I do have to say that I recently completed a theater for a client and the directive (which I like to think I helped foster and encourage) was basically matte black everywhere and giant 2:40 masking screen. It’s as close to my dream of floating in a sea of blackness as I’ve been able to accomplish 😊
@@scottwallace1 appreciate that and thank you 🙏. That type of theatre is definitely not for me and my wife wouldn’t have signed off on that 😂although I know someone who has one. I’m going to see it in July! There will always be the purists I suppose and each to their own. It’s about what floats your boat I guess!
Cheers bud. You are right, no native content available at the moment, but when you have the best video processor in the world that can upscale native 4K content to 8K really well and a projector that can handle and display it, it is worth a mention. It really does make a difference.
@@BuildMontage Sony has speakers behind tv, also that is not big problem, you can put speakers tv's left and right and turn them to audience, problem solved, no projector can offer excellent picture of oled tv
I guess you are speaking from your experience my friend! I have an 85” TV in my big lounge and it no where near compares to the immersive visuals in my cinema room. you are right that an OLED is better but that can be said against any projection system in the world, but would you rather watch a movie blockbuster on your TV or go to an IMAX cinema?! Plus the audio is everything in a room like this. Correct placement and toe in makes a huge difference to the sound. Also the speakers in a Sony TV are from the Stone Age compared to this sound system! You mention the left and right speakers, but would do you do with your centre speaker? You would have to experience a setup like this to understand.
I like having a beard because I am bald. My wife also likes my beard. I've never had trouble eating with a beard. God gave us men facial hair for a reason - so I'm rocking my beard till I die!
Ok it’s faux 8K projector. But still 8k. Also the MadVR has 8k upscaling as well as the JVC so 8k still has a lot to do with it. But native 8k content…..no! It’s about as good as residential 8k gets in a projection system

Yes this is all very nice BUT I don't see a popcorn machine😁
Haha…the microwave does that job! 😂
Wish I had money for this...
Yeah if you keep wishing, it will never happen. It's all about the action, not words.

Me know how “ the abyss in 4K” looks
I certainly will when it arrives

There are no 8 k movies on disk. And not on streams site and not on UA-cam also.
Lot's of games supporting 8K...
The MadVR envy extreme upscales to 8k very well. The result from native 4K content is outstanding!
It’s an amazing home theater, but I don’t get why people are hung up on 8K. There is no content available, and probably won’t be for years to come.
Cheers bud. You are right, no native content available at the moment, but when you have the best video processor in the world that can upscale native 4K content to 8K really well and a projector that can handle and display it, it is worth a mention. It really does make a difference.
First sorry I haven’t responded for a while
Nope. Second 😂😂😂
HAHA
Big 8k tv would be more logical
Home theater is about emotion, not logic ;) Besides, how do you put speakers behind your TV? The image of Marks room is incredible for 138".

Why do you like long beard? How to eat with it?
I like having a beard because I am bald. My wife also likes my beard. I've never had trouble eating with a beard. God gave us men facial hair for a reason - so I'm rocking my beard till I die!
this still wont fix my no friends problem ;(
:( don't worry, I also sit on my own in my home cinema
There’s no 8k
Ok it’s faux 8K projector. But still 8k. Also the MadVR has 8k upscaling as well as the JVC so 8k still has a lot to do with it. But native 8k content…..no! It’s about as good as residential 8k gets in a projection system
That beard? Not a good look!
