I'm proud to call this man my favorite actor. What a career he's had, he's a stone cold American Icon! You've got to respect him for still being a humble, stand-up guy despite all of his success.
The original underdog. He broke all the moulds, challenged the system and reached the pinnacle by sheer hard work, dedication and brilliance. Stallone is the epitome of the rags to riches story. A great businessman and probably one of the biggest stars in the world - everybody loves Sly.
As a child I didn't watch cartoons, I watched the Rocky series, and all these years later (40 years old) I named my son Apollo. My mom is forever grateful for Rocky as it kept me busy during a rough time where she was working 3rd shifts. Home-made punching bag, check. Rocky 3, check. Thank you Sly, without you I probably wouldn't be here.
nonsense. he was never under-rated, he along with arnold are two of the best action heroes in the history of movie business. rocky+rambo alone were plenty but then he did some other gems: get carter,cliff-hanger, escape through victory, expendables one, tango/over the top/assasin/cobra. I think any action fan must have seen all his movies.
Excellent interview! Stallone’s magic is that he played heros on screen so well that he sort of became a real life one for me. I cannot believe that Mr. Stallone has experienced career lows, given his notoriety and success. The man comes across as humble, accessible, and genuine. He just cemented my respect for him. Wish that I could meet him in person.
This man is the ultimate inspiration ...my hero..he is a true gift to the arts and he will always be my absolute favourite. He is brilliant and articulate and a beautiful soul. Sly thank you for giving us two of the best characters in film. I have been a fan for over 40 years ..met him briefly in Toronto 4 years ago and he was humble and generous. Made me love him even more. Wish this interview was longer.
Great interview. Stallone has a great outlook on life and a terrific way of expressing this perspective he has. He managed to instill this into his Rocky scripts and dialogue over the years, most of which I'm sure he pulled from his own personal experience - never give up, be prepared to take the punches, don't measure your worth by success (which can be fleeting) but rather by how you handle failure and move forward from it. There's a million influencers and motivational speakers on social media, but I think all anyone needs to do is watch all 6 Rocky movies and they'll learn that determination and self-belief is key to everything, no matter what you do in life.
I am unsure if sly will ever know how many people his writing and acting has positively affected. My family and I being among them. I have often said, “how do you not like Rambo, or love Rocky?” Those two characters alone have inspired people all over the world to never give up, to never quit, and to keep on punching. They have taught lessons on determination, right and wrong, adversity, and justice. Thank you sly, thank you for everything you have given to this world, and thank you for consistently mentioning God throughout your writings and acting.

thanks for bringing him in David. Sly is as down to earth, humble and earnest as you can get for a superstar back in those days. We sadly don't have public figures and conversations like this much anymore today, where it is all about ego-flexing, quick results, partisan bickering, and 5 minutes news flash.
I'll be 26 in June and Mr. Stallone is literally my favorite actor of all time. I have watched every movie of his. Rambo first blood was on spike tv once and I watched it. And following that was First Blood part 2. I immediately feel in love with Stallone's acting. I found Rocky and watched every single film. I own all of Stallone's films. I would hope to someday meet him. Even if I just saw him in public. Stallone had to sell his dog because he was so broke in the 1970s before Rocky. Or around the first Rocky. He is a extraordinary actor and I absolutely love the 70s and 80s movies. People actually had ideas for films. If Mr Stallone you see this. I just want you to know your literally the Greatest actor of all time in my book. And no matter what you'll be my favorite actor on the planet. 🥊
Sly has been my favorite guy since ROCKY!!! Cannot tell you how many times I've seen all the ROCKY & RAMBO & EXPENDABLES movies!!! In the hundreds!!!! I love all his movies just for the fact he puts his heart&soul into all he does and his spirituality is absolutely so amazing!!! God has definitely blessed Sly and hope to see more of him in movies!!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Rambo was very important to Vietnam Veterans who came back to America and were hated. Even though they were drafted and had to go they were blamed for being baby killers etc. When Rambo speaks about some of this Veterans actually cried in the theater because he spoke about their pain.
His movie Oscar was a real achievement as well, even though they panned it, it's a family favorite. All my kids loved it, and the oldest is 40 youngest is 31. My wife and I, along with the kids got a huge kick on trips, just breaking out the one liners. Still a hysterical movie to watch. That one and like he said Rocky Balboa are our top 2. Plus my dad and I went to see the first 3 together(Rocky movies), then we moved apart. So good job Maynard. ;)
Since I was 15 yrs old when I saw rocky I started working out I am now 60 and when I feel too tired I think of sly and I keep moving forward he is my inspiration I will never stop
Excellent interview as always with Stallone. He's so grounded and honest, always a pleasure to listen to his insights. Up or down, thin or flush, he's one of our great success stories. I hope he never stops making quality movies and being so down to Earth.
I had a poster in my room as a teenager of ROCKY. Bec that movie isnt about boxing or sports or love. Its about an underdog trying to win respect. And thats a powerful message thats stood the test of time , almost 50 years now
I introduced some friends to Over The Top in middle school which sparked years of arm wrestling during lunch. Love that movie and Meet Me Halfway is one of my wife and I's songs 😁
I’d love it if SS made it his mission to produce the next upcoming writers/actors. But really looking out for gems like Rocky. Those movies from the 60s-80s that just don’t get made anymore.❤ I think SS has that spark in him that he would be able to recognise those movies. Whereas other studios are just execs who are just chasing the algorithm.

Hello from Turkey to the all Rockies in the world.. Sly is my favorite actor, he's an amazing inspiration isn't he.. I'm 32 years old. I remember first time I saw his movie was Cliffhanger or Daylight. They were impressive and then I watched Rocky and then all other his movies, absolutely amazing. I frequently watch his movies again and again I never think I waste my time.. I love all his movies but especially my fav ones are Over The Top, Cobra, Nighthawks, Rambo1, Rocky5, Copland, Demolotion Man..
Mr.stallone is a father figure to me...his roles inspired me...i dont miss any of his movies..watch them on the first day in the theatre...whenever i m down or sad i watch rocky or rambo series or creed to get back in track..Mr.stallone please dont stop makin movies..as i m your biggest fan, and a musician from india since childhood.you are the reason i started watching american movies..
Brilliant man whose genius had fed A LOT of people. Wish the questioner had let Stallone just talk instead of rapid fire questions but Stallone is a busy guy so I suppose he had to keep it moving.
It still kind of baffles me just how eloquent and verbose Sylvester is. There's still this underlying perception of him being some kind of meathead amongst the public, but he's genuinely introspective and intelligent. He can articulate his thoughts so well and offer profundity to his commentary on an actor's journey.
Sly might not think people go but before the world fell apart two years ago I and my best friend would go to the movies every Saturday. We loved it. But since then I've only seen 4 movies in the theater.
Really good insights on what Sly’s take is on the movie industry at the moment. Would have also like to hear his thoughts on his earlier roles like the Party at Kitty.
Sly would be the kind of guy who would be a good friend to have. Modest, sincere, a decent guy who would come to your aid if needed. I watch Rambo and Rocky movies regularly, have never watched an Arnold movie...

Yes, he is a cool dude but I think it was the lack of dialogue in Rambo as he grunted more than spoke words.
