When he talked about grief. I lost it😭 I love this man and I just wanted to give him a hug. I've been a fan for over 35 years since I was a little girl.
I love "replacing old pain with new pain". When my brother died, I joined a gym membership and started pushing weight hard. I call it distraction therapy. Any emotional pain I felt from grief, missing my brother, was but a splinter compared to the grueling physical torture I was putting myself through. Now, I'm not afraid of emotional pain anymore, now that I know how to handle it, to embrace it as part of life. I'd rather feel emotional pain than feel nothing at all.
Listening to this podcast reminds me so much of my best friends experiences. He grew up in Australia in a very abusive home, he left and joined the military (Australia) and eventually met his beautiful wife in California. He became a Special Forces Medic, and later became an officer and PA (Physicians Assistant). He has 5 beautiful daughters and listening to Sly talk to his daughters is exactly like listening to Drew talk to his girls. Hardship can make for very successful people "if" they can get through it intact.

This whole concept of the daughters pod cast and interviewing their dad is so unique. Without this dynamic of the podcast, we would never see this side of “Rambo” or Rocky…there is a perception we have of our idols and how they get interviewed over the years. But to have your daughter’s interview you and great interviewers at that. Really opens a side we would never ever see. Sylvester, thank you for being so open with being vulnerable and sharing so much in detail about your past. I had no idea, I’m sure a lot of us feel the same. You accomplished so many great things, it’s mind blowing.
The part of Rocky’s character I love most is the way he is with Adrian. The way he patiently but persistently wins her over is the best, including the cheesy jokes. I couldn’t imagine a better relationship between a husband and wife. They compliment and balance each other SO perfectly.
Watching this for over an hour I am so humbled and full of respect for this man. How many parents go on about what they've learned in life and their kids can't wait to leave the room. Only a real man can have adult daughters who hang on to every single word he speaks. Every. Single. Word. Then they finish with 'we love you and would die for you'. He can die happy that he did one of the most important things in this world: Be a wise father who passed on character and real values. Until recently all I knew was he's an action star. I never knew what a great man he is until I saw SLY and this. Seeing him and his family shows you the fruit of his life. So much heart. So much wisdom. He's my new hero.

My life was similar so I understand completely. How parents play an extremely huge role in molding your emotions. Love is the most important emotion when leveled in a proper way creates a beautiful soul. I have 3 children who stay away from me because how I was raised affected them. It took me until I was 60 to begin to understand my entire life as to what made me who I am.

Rocky Balboa aka Rocky 6 is a great movie with the best motivational speech scene ever - when Rocky talks to his son about life. Parents need to give that kind of speech to their kids more often.
The way this documentary resonated with me is so unmatched. This interview gave me clarity and reassurance. Recently my professor was talking about Sly relating it to a mentorship lesson & got choked up and she was balling. She’s been a huge fan of Stallone, as I am, and you can see how touched she was. I realized that I wasn’t the only one that felt like this. It was an incredible full circle moment. & it’s true: Stallone is a true mentor to ALOT of people. First off being a lifelong Sly fan I absolutely loved this Unwaxed Episode. Sly has always been my favorite actor since I was a kid right up to the present. He has always represented optimism & fighting for your dreams to me & millions of others. The only thing in the "Sly" 2023 documentary I felt was missing & also from this unwaxed pod was talking about his son & your Brother Sage but ... as someone who also lost my Brother I understand that some things are too painful to talk about. I've been an "irrationnal" fan of Sly for 40 years. I've watched this interview for the second time (I wish I could click on the thumb up twice 😄). By asking the most accurate and the cleverest questions to their father, Sistine and Sophia have offered us what I consider the most important thing I've seen about Sly. I've red, watched and listen to almost everything about our idole since the 80s and, this is by far the most moving, the most fantastic, the deepest thing I've seen about Sly. With those letters, I absolutely wanted to explain people how Rocky, Rambo and yourself were "more than meet the eyes". These girls have a great vibe and just a lovely demeanor. Loved the first interview with your dad as well. The story of him getting shot was a shock and of course scary, but also an icing on the cake. You could hear the pain in his voice there from just being another difficult moment and to just carry on.
I'm nine minutes into this interview and I'm already crying my sadness out. Hearing Sly has touched a cord in my mind that relates with my similar sad childhood to his. How he managed to become who he is is a complete miracle and a blessing.

I’ve watched Sly since a young age. I’ve seen him evolve into the intelligent, handsome,strong leading man , that he is today. It’s heartbreaking to hear his story. I can relate to so much of his childhood. I’m so happy to see he survived this! You can tell he has such a close relationship with his two beautiful , elegant daughters. I’m glad he broke the abuse cycle. The way he talks about his gorgeous wife makes me have hope in love. I’m 54 and have never known that. I’ve broken away from the toxic relationships in my life. I've watched basically every interview with Stallone and thought I knew everything about the story, this episode changed that and it really hit me deeply as someone who had a traumatic childhood as well. I found myself getting emotional throughout this because it hit so close to home, thank you for doing this, i'm sure it resonates with many other people.
I'm from the UK and can relate to Sly's life as mine was similar as I was Never loved just abused for 14 yrs from Birth! My parent was a priest who groomed my mother aged 14 he was 31 married her and abused her for 25 yrs murdered my 2 sisters (1st Born twins) and abused the 6 other siblings and got away with it without charge,. I'm now in my 50,s and it still haunts me to this day! Mr Stallone Use your families love to heal some of your sadness and just smile knowing "you never give up" xx

I’ve watched all the Rocky movies, and I can say I’ve seen each one about 20 times. Sylvester Stallone has been one of the cinematic superheroes for me and my entire family. Listening to this podcast and learning about the life, childhood, adolescence, and youth of this hero truly brought tears to my eyes. But I gained something very important and an incredible inspiration from his words. I’ve written dozens of incomplete stories and screenplays, and I’ve always thought they weren’t good enough, so I left them unfinished. These are stories and scripts that, whenever I shared their summaries or synopses with people in the industry, they were amazed. But I never had enough confidence or motivation to finish them. Listening to this podcast and the incredible words of my childhood and teenage hero gave me the drive to revisit my unfinished stories and finally complete them.

I add this you're correct most people don't have that fairy tale ended. I've just adapted to my life of being alone. My children don't visit or call. I text first they respond. Once I adapted to how my life without my children and grandchildren was going to be. I suppose your skin gets tough and you accept what is without feeling sorry for yourself. It is what it is I can't change them. Understand my kids had a good life. 100% better than mine. At 68 the era I was raised in parents was very verbal and physical. Nothing at all like today there was no child services.

Wow I think Sistin missed her calling….she asks all the right questions and really deep and self reflecting questions. She would make a great therapist. I love that sly became the kind of parent that he never had. This just proves that you can become a product of your own upbringing OR you can rise from that and learn what not do from your upbringing. It’s all a matter of mindset. He created such a beautiful family for himself while fighting some inner demons. This podcast session was so therapeutic and insightful. He deserves all the success and love he currently has, this man fought tooth and nail for his current life. Extremely happy for him.

My life was similar so I understand completely. How parents play an extremely huge role in molding your emotions. Love is the most important emotion when leveled in a proper way creates a beautiful soul. I have 3 children who stay away from me because how I was raised affected them. It took me until I was 60 to begin to understand my entire life as to what made me who I am.

Rocky Balboa aka Rocky 6 is a great movie with the best motivational speech scene ever - when Rocky talks to his son about life. Parents need to give that kind of speech to their kids more often.

The way this documentary resonated with me is so unmatched. This interview gave me clarity and reassurance.
Recently my professor was talking about Sly relating it to a mentorship lesson & got choked up and she was balling. She’s been a huge fan of Stallone, as I am, and you can see how touched she was. I realized that I wasn’t the only one that felt like this.
It was an incredible full circle moment. & it’s true: Stallone is a true mentor to ALOT of people. Thank god im living the same lifetime as him.

First off being a lifelong Sly fan I absolutely loved this Unwaxed Episode. Sly has always been my favorite actor since I was a kid right up to the present. He has always represented optimism & fighting for your dreams to me & millions of others. The only thing in the "Sly" 2023 documentary I felt was missing & also from this unwaxed pod was talking about his son & your Brother Sage but ... as someone who also lost my Brother I understand that some things are too painful to talk about. I discovered over the passage of time tho that talking about him honors him & keeps him alive but that might just be in my case. Thank both of you & Sly for this podcast. It is truly a gift to us. I wish your entire family the very best life has to offer.
I've been an "irrationnal" fan of Sly for 40 years. I've watched this interview for the second time (I wish I could click on the thumb up twice 😄). By asking the most accurate and the cleverest questions to their father, Sistine and Sophia have offered us what I consider the most important thing I've seen about Sly. I've red, watched and listen to almost everything about our idole since the 80s and, this is by far the most moving, the most fantastic, the deepest thing I've seen about Sly. Thank you, ladies, for this amazing gift which is, to my opinion, one of the most important document ever shared to understand him. I'm moved by the fact he accepted to open his heart like this. Dear Sly, back in the 80s, I was this teenager writing and sending letters to national newspapers (in Belgium) and some of them were published! With those letters, I absolutely wanted to explain people how Rocky, Rambo and yourself were "more than meet the eyes". It was like an unstoppable urge to tell my reluctant fellow citizens they should take a closer look to discover the obvious sensitivity behind the icon... These girls have a great vibe and just a lovely demeanor. Loved the first interview with your dad as well. The story of him getting shot was a shock and of course scary, but also an icing on the cake. You could hear the pain in his voice there from just being another difficult moment and to just carry on.
I'm nine minutes into this interview and I'm already crying my sadness out. Hearing Sly has touched a cord in my mind that relates with my similar sad childhood to his. How he managed to become who he is is a complete miracle and a blessing.

I’ve watched Sly since a young age. I’ve seen him evolve into the intelligent, handsome,strong leading man , that he is today. It’s heartbreaking to hear his story. I can relate to so much of his childhood. I’m so happy to see he survived this! You can tell he has such a close relationship with his two beautiful , elegant daughters. I’m glad he broke the abuse cycle. The way he talks about his gorgeous wife makes me have hope in love. I’m 54 and have never known that. I’ve broken away from the toxic relationships in my life. I’ve learned that you have to toughen up or the world will eat you alive! Tulsa King gives me inspiration! lol It’s one of my favorite series. He rocks that show! Great Interview! ❤
I've watched basically every interview with Stallone and thought I knew everything about the story, this episode changed that and it really hit me deeply as someone who had a traumatic childhood as well. I found myself getting emotional throughout this because it hit so close to home, thank you for doing this, i'm sure it resonates with many other people.
I'm from the UK and can relate to Sly's life as mine was similar as I was Never loved just abused for 14 yrs from Birth! My parent was a priest who groomed my mother aged 14 he was 31 married her and abused her for 25 yrs murdered my 2 sisters (1st Born twins) and abused the 6 other siblings and got away with it without charge,. I'm now in my 50,s and it still haunts me to this day! Mr Stallone Use your families love to heal some of your sadness and just smile knowing "you never give up" xx
I can only aspire to have the mental strength and fortitude you have. Just thinking about your situation, I probably would have the darkest thoughts when it pertained to that man and I would have tried to act on some of it, if you know what I mean.

Stallone will always be king. His number of great movies is unprecedented. He’s outlasted them all. He’s outworked them all. Stallone and Eastwood are on a different level of filmmaking.
I’ve watched all the Rocky movies, and I can say I’ve seen each one about 20 times. Sylvester Stallone has been one of the cinematic superheroes for me and my entire family. Listening to this podcast and learning about the life, childhood, adolescence, and youth of this hero truly brought tears to my eyes. But I gained something very important and an incredible inspiration from his words.
I’ve written dozens of incomplete stories and screenplays, and I’ve always thought they weren’t good enough, so I left them unfinished. These are stories and scripts that, whenever I shared their summaries or synopses with people in the industry, they were amazed. But I never had enough confidence or motivation to finish them. Listening to this podcast and the incredible words of my childhood and teenage hero gave me the drive to revisit my unfinished stories and finally complete them.
Such an interesting interview! Not only do I like Sly's movies, but I also like Sly as a person, especially hearing how down to earth and open he can be. To hear everything that he has been through, and he still managed to make it to the top was truly amazing. His daughters did a great job interviewing him, and I loved how surprised, and touched they were about hearing some of the things their father told them. I enjoyed the whole interview!

Sylvester meeting his wife was the one thing that he had been robbed of all as a child. LOVE..He is a humble man, his daughters have incredible parents. It goes to prove, a violent upbringing doesn't have to stop you loving your children and showing them love. To love is a choice, but by taking it, your life is better.

I add this you're correct most people don't have that fairy tale ended. I've just adapted to my life of being alone. My children don't visit or call. I text first they respond. Once I adapted to how my life without my children and grandchildren was going to be. I suppose your skin gets tough and you accept what is without feeling sorry for yourself. It is what it is I can't change them. Understand my kids had a good life. 100% better than mine. At 68 the era I was raised in parents was very verbal and physical. Nothing at all like today there was no child services.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one going through this. BUYING friends is the norm for me even with success. Hiding every chance you get is easier. I still can do nothing for myself it has to be for others. Self worth is a hard pill to swallow when as a kid it was never shared to me as a goal.
