HERETIC (Live from The Backyard) - Gable Price and Friends

- We lit up a fire in the backyard, and wrote a stripped back/reimagined arrangement to our Song “Heretic,” the first track from our album “Fractioned Heart”.
HERETIC is an acceptance letter for the listener, that God cannot fit inside your boxes. When Jesus walked the earth, he was crucified for breaking the boxes humans had made for him to fit in. As soon as God begins to fit in our box, we have made a god in our own image.
The reality is, if the way our modern culture treats pastors with different viewpoints, or experiences with God, is any indication of how they would act if Jesus walked the earth again, he would either be canceled or crucified again.

Good theology is only offensive to an unbeliever. For believers, it convicts us of the love, majesty and awe of the Lord. Also, God does not offend US, we are offensive to Him (we are sinners deserving wrath). God is altogether lovely, holy and pure.
I understand you’re perspective. Offense could be convicting. Our flesh hates what the Word preaches, so it’s a daily decision to pick up our cross and to walk in holiness. And yes, God is above all and He finds all atrocities offensive, for it is against Him. We’re breaking His law, but through Jesus’ blood, we’re washed white: forgiven and forgotten of the sin we committed through repentance and confession.
I think Gable is singing in a pleading manner to God. Just like how David pleads to God in Psalm 42, Gable is pleading and asking God to offend his sinful mind. He also prays for God to break his heart for what breaks God’s.
