- Battlefield destruction has always been apart of the BF series. In some games it has been more destruction than others. Here is a comparison of battlefield 1, battlefield 5 and battlefield 2042 destruction.

I still play BF1 on my PS4. Would love to get a PC to get even more precise with aiming. You're right, the game just feels good and the graphics were crispy. V and 2042 feel like less quality and more quantity when it came to maps and weapons

i m happy to see that someone still cares about destruction in Bf, which is, in my opinion, a core feature for the franchise. However in BF2042 was so downgraded. Hope the next Battlefield will evolve destruction
Many fans care about destruction. Destruction is what made bf 5 so good for me.

theres a game called the finals thats being made by previous bf devs and in the game you can supposedly destroy the whole map!
BF1 was the most fluid on account that the debris disappears instantly. The bits linger on BF2042 and V for a sec, even straight up shrinking in V which both kinda take me out of it rather despawning quicker than I can process.

You can't tell me BF1 wasn't the best Battlefield game we've ever had. The detail in graphics, sounds physics and the gameplay itself is of a masterclass work of art.
Sadly the guneplay was not as good.

I believe that BFV's destruction is the most impressively advanced, at least on a technical level. However, BF1's destruction had this sense of naturalism and felt more realistic, which is why I feel that it is the best in the series in terms of total chaos.
i feel like if 2042 used destruction from portal more often it would be much better
BF1 is the firstborn, made with love and dedication, BF5 is the uncomprehended child in the middle and BF2042 is just the aftermath of a bad drinking night.
here we see how much EA is dedicated to its games, the destruction of Battlefield 1 manages to be better than that of Battlefield V and 2042
I think it's also todo with the fact that most of the talent left after bf5 and went to embark studios..their working on a two games called the finals and arc raiders and the destruction in both those games you can tell are from battlefield vets

With BFV and BF2042, they basically made half the revenues per copies sold
thats cap, take off the nostalgia goggles. bf2042 clearly has the best destruction. not the bf1 is bad, its still great for destruction. but 2042 is just better in that regard. (even if it is less immerssive)
Destruction is what made this game different from others. It's sad that 2042 took steps back from what made the game stand out. Bf1 destruction and bfv was way better then 2042 it's nice to see they are trying to correct their errors on 2042 but I still don't find the enjoyment in that game as I did I all the past titles
@@provisionalhypothesis yeah I can't get into that vehicle are stupidly op you can literally sit in your spawn shoot non stop to every point on some maps and never get hit. The heli need a update as the flar recovery along with anti lock is a bit much unless you got a group just hunting heli down they can rain hell on a map run away hide heal get flare back come back don't all over again mean while your running around trying to get someone to drop ammo so u can take it out

I think the reason why bf1's destruction looks better is because the devs weren't afraid to use a ton of smoke and debris particles to hide the fact that shit was just popping out of existence (like we see clearly in bf5)
it results in not only having visually better destruction, but also unfortunately significantly worse visibility which is why I think bf5 removed a lot of those particles.
unrelated note - anyone else think that explosions in bf5 and 2042 are kinda underwhelming compared to bf1?
it is also more realistic. Just watch any demolition video, there is gonna be a lot of smoke and dust, and the smoke should actually linger longer, which imo was shortened just right in BF1. Perfect mix of realism and fun

On Xbox, I can barely control the air vehicles without flying into the combat zone or just crashing into the ground in BF1 but that goes with every air vehicle in every BF game so it's likely just a me problem.

The explosion animation for the sturmtiger and most of the tanks in general in bfv are really really cool.
bf1 had the best destruction in the franchise, bfv looked good but was a bit of a downgrade due to its fast pop out of the debris
and barley any smoke and the falling wall effect is kinda wonky

The more ironic thing of it is there not even using the new maps from 2042 cause they know damn well there’s zero good or realistic destruction in them…and there’s still no leaning system

Bad company 2 will always have the best destruction imo. It may not have always been the most balanced (rush mcom stations being inside collapsible houses) but it had the biggest impact on each match. You could completely level entire towns and villages and hide in the rubble if you wanted. Destruction needs to make a comeback as a main mechanic and not a side feature or gimmick
@@velaikka well I did say it was a little unbalanced at times lol. But it never stopped me from having the most fun I've had in battlefield. I think if they made a game with bad company 2s level of destruction, bf3 close quarters detail of destruction, and REALLY beefed up bf5s fortification mechanics it would be perfect
@@velaikka tbh the ENTIRE reason I ever started playing battlefield was because of the first trailer I saw of bad company 1. It showed off the destruction and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Without that it probably would have been another shooter I would've ignored. So I'd just really like a focus on that again. I'm ready to see the actual next evolution of destruction their technology is capable of. Not this scaled down, sandbagged bs. I'm gonna play 2042 next week when it's free on ps plus but I know it's a shell of a battlefield, even with all the updates. The destruction isn't there, along with countless other things

As good as bf1 destruction is, i have to say I'm actually impressed with 2042 destruction in some areas. I really like how some larger chunks have a little bit of a delay before they fall and roll around. Makes it seem more organic. Ex: 1:16 and 4:11
Also i just have to mention how amazing the ground deformation is in bf1. I remember playing games that by the end of a match the entire shape of the landscape in some areas was completely changed. And diving into, sometimes massive, craters was so immersive.
I love the destruction un bf1 but i got really surprise about bf42 and this example it's why and idk why more ppl see this

I wish Battlefield and EA was more open to mods like they used to be with BF1942 and BF2. The level of destruction in a total conversion mod with something like Project Reality mod would be absolutely unreal. Their games use to have Mod Tools and map creation tools in the game files on the CDs, and now we can't have anything I guess.

@@tristan.h5099 The BFV is superior in all respects. I don't see anything that could be worse than 2042. It's a shame they left it when it was starting to get really cool. Pacific and Provence were great. Unfortunately, they abandoned it to "finish" the next game in the series. This is how Crapfield 2042 was created

I think the physics are actualyl slightly better, like you can see larger chunks falling off the buildings in realistic ways in 2042...its just there's very little destruction in general, and far less destructible pieces. Can't see it if it dont exist.

I don’t only love destruction of buildings but also craters like Silk Road desert at BF4, which makes a lot of strategy. I hope to add destruction to bf2042.

Wow. I didn't realize the newer Battlefields had such advanced terrain and structure destruction. Most FPS and action games should have destructible elements like this!
Any new FBS game that doesn't have destructible buildings is a joke.

So I keep switching between BF's and still can't believe what the dev's were thinking with BF 2042. It is such a leap backwards in so many ways graphically. I'm baffled. The realism and ambiance in BF1 and 5 is so amazing. They feel like a proper battlefield. I enjoy playing them every time. BF 2042 looks and feels blend, boring and soulless in comparison. Almost like a ps3 game but with 4k visuals. Hope the next installment will be a return to form.

I gotta say, as bad as 2042 was, the destruction and huge chunks are pretty nice and feels more... natural? I just wish they expanded that throughout the entire game...

Definitely BF1 looks the best, only thing BF2042 I really like is when tanks start to black to blow up and the turret part starts lighting up.
If you could add the bfV beautiful graphics to bf1, you would get the supreme game

@beheumband5758 well it's hard to say because the bf1 graphics are very dark and gloomy which works well for the setting but I think if a bit of color was added while still keeping the dark palette of colors on it would look better
The explosions are realistic but the fact that you can stand 10ft away and not be blown back or get hit with shrapnel is crazy

BF1 had the best, it was awesome seeing the map turn from untouched to looking like No Man's Land with all the craters.
Tbh I think 2042s destruction only has one problem, the buildings are too strong, while yes it’s the future and that’s understandable but it takes the fun outa it

it should be pointed out that the 2042 map that have destruction are recycled from Battlefield 2, 3 and 4, there are not actual BF 2042 that has large-scale structural destruction. Levelution is dead in BF 2042, a great sadness.

that's what really got me into battlefield back in the BF series, when I saw Bad company 2 first time on PC, I got amazed that I can destroy walls and building, unfortunately they ruined that in the last game.
Leveling out all the building structures during operations so nobody is safe and open out of cover.
Bf1 had the best destruction, 2042 at 2nd and bf5 at third, all of them are visually pleasing

But the first BF 2042 example that you choose is tricky, because it is only on that BC2 remastered map as a tribute to the BC2 destruction.

2042 destruction actually looks amazing and so do the graphics but sadly the movement was way more fluid in the other two bf games
The finals absolutely beats any destruction on all battlefield games. They need to learn from them.
I have never played BF1 but I love BF5 more than BF2042.

Problem is they could really improve destruction physics since they were still making all of these games for last gen
The destruction is the exactly the same in every game since BF3. What changed is that people don't interact with it anymore OR as much as they used to. Players are more focused in the gunplay these days, and the destruction goes unnoticed, leaving a feeling that there's less of it, but it's there!
that's bs, there werent even craters in bf3. also not in bf4 and hardline. bf3 and 4 still had collapsing buildings. things changed a lot in bf1.
