I will admit to a few moments of "holy shit, holy shit, holy shit" when passing large farm tractors on narrow lanes in the highlands during my first week. And there was major flooding and washed out bridges from Gardenstown on the East Coast to Inverness that took about 2 years off my life. When you know that at any second water can be sucked up into the engine and crack the block and you would have to get out, wade through rivers and call in on total strangers who likely hate tourists you white knuckle it pretty hard. But the back roads, narrow lanes and no voice telling me to turn in 100ft is the way to really see what a place is like. All the comments about reversing and gaining a licence: it's interesting that reversing doesn't figure too highly in a driving test. You do a three-point turn and reversing round a corner, but as far as I can remember (passed mine in 1979) that's all the reversing you do. May be it should be a feature of the lessons and test.
Passed my test 2020 Jan, I did: 3 point turn Reversing round a corner Reverse bay parking Parallel parking Multiple times during all my lessons I'd have to reverse down a lane like this too It's also worrying how she's a bad driver in such an up to date car too, sensors and cameras are commonplace in cars now, my 2004 corsa doesn't even have sensors! Reversing is a lot more common nowadays and the tests are harder ( don't believe me? Check official gov website and see over the years how passing your test has become more challenging!) The reason why, to stop idiots like this ever be on the roads.
@@cxhxzz5679 Wow, that's great to know. Driving certainly is more challenging these days compared to when I passed. Still, it would seem the test today doesn't weed out the weak.
Sally Bilzon it's worrying isn't it! I know too many people my age who have crashed after learning the same techniques as me! The test needs to be revamped, the teachers are fine and if anything overteach! Safe travels to you too!
@@cxhxzz5679 please 2 reverse exercises and 2 exercises following directions is what you do to pass a test nowadays. None of the reversing you do in lessons or tests has you reversing down a country lane with a lorry on your bonnet. Granted a reversing is not hard for some but others struggle. At least she got out the way many would have tried to force the lorry back
kahlan well for my instance living in the country with a LOT of one way lanes quickly taught me to adapt to reversing if there are no lay-bys in the near vicinity. I found that the reversing exercises in my lessons helped me a lot with my everyday commuting and driving in general. I'm struggling to see your point? There is a clearly visible lay-by which the Audi can easily navigate into but instead chose not to, her even attempting to force the lorry back would be laughable. Yes you do those exercises to not only pass your test but to bear it in mind for the future. Too many people like you're saying do it to pass the test and forget! It's tragic how you're taught to parallel park for your test and yet most people I know after passing said test have never had to do so.
Get this on a regular occurrence around the back lanes in South Devon. Cant believe how many people can't reverse their cars these days. I had to reverse 200yards downhill last week, all because the lady in their car couldn't/wouldn't reverse I to a passing place 10 yards behind her. Then didn't even acknowledge me when she drove past my car. I think they got their driving licence in a Christmas cracker.
If they can't do a simple parking and reversing manoeuvrer with a car they shouldn't be even driving. Some spatial awareness and a little common sense is a must on these roads these days and I get the same problems as this truck driver with me driving big buses daily for a living.
I find that so many people don’t understand a simple rule of life. Even in reverse, IF YOU KEEP THE STEERING WHEEL STRAIGHT - THE CAR WILL GO STRAIGHT.
there is a good reason why in my home country you have to go to a driving school with a certified driving instructor who will assess you when you are ready to take the test and won't admit you to take a test before you are ready to pass it. you can't just put an L on your car and let your alcoholic parent "teach" you how to drive.
It was busy during Christmas time and we didnt have enough parking space. So, it was like one car leaves and other one comes in. A lady with a old A class which is like nissan micra comes in. 2 spots got free next to each other. I show her the spot where she needs to park. After 4 to 6 attempts she manages to park a tiny car right inbetween the 2 spots on the white line used to divide parking spots.
Must of literally blagged their way through the driving test, appalling driving skills with the easiest scenario being the car pulled into the first pull in section to allow the lorry too safely pass through down the lane... Suppose... Least the light's work on the audi car, nowadays all these new cars dont seem to come with indicators etc as they dont use them on the motorways etc 🙄😏
@@jhwhthemerciful probably someone who got their license too long ago and has since developed very bad driving habits. @@jinglemyberries866 Here in Belgium about 40 years ago people could get their license without any driving test whatsoever. Only thing that was required was having two arms, two legs and no criminal record. It obviously changed since then but is the same also true for America, or some of the states?
As the others have said, these roads are many centuries old. Widening them would involve enormous property purchases/resumptions and would be hugely expensive and unpopular.
I live in Scotland and regularly drive on single track roads, always amusing myself at the pathetic attempts tourists (mainly women) make to drive in reverse, or to avoid doing so, to get into passing places. The ferry company CalMac have even produced a leaflet on how to drive on single track roads - in other words, target market = the stupid! The driving test should include 100 metres of driving in reverse.
I've been on roads like this and 50 metres was the maximum I had to reverse (mid-Wales), for an oncoming bus. It's down to looking as far ahead as possible. See the white van down the road that's noticed all this and has obviously pulled into the next passing place. Australian tourist by the way.
@@michaelmclachlan1650 Some years ago I saw a short film called Passing Place or something, which celebrated the skill of two oncoming cars judging their speeds so that they passed each other in the passing place without either stopping. Slowed down of course. Recently I've encountered drivers who stop before the passing place, and then move forward when I have stopped. It's really annoying and I don't understand it.
Car driver was being a total plonker in this case. Sometimes the driver of the big vehicle causes the problem though. I recall once having to reverse and pull into a passing place to let a bus through on a lane like this - there was easily enough room for him but he wasn’t convinced and refused to come past. I had to reverse further and back into someone’s driveway before the stupid git felt safe

It's also worrying how she's a bad driver in such an up to date car too, sensors and cameras are commonplace in cars now, my 2004 corsa doesn't even have sensors!
Reversing is a lot more common nowadays and the tests are harder ( don't believe me? Check official gov website and see over the years how passing your test has become more challenging!)
The reason why, to stop idiots like this ever be on the roads.
3:55 "She hasn't got a massive amount of brain cells". Correct. Pretty self evident to be fair!
"What the nuggets"😂😂😂
She was better than those many drivers whome I had seen badly parking in other videos.
Wow just wow! Got all this to look forward to when I go for my hgv later this year 🤣
If they can't do a simple parking and reversing manoeuvrer with a car they shouldn't be even driving. Some spatial awareness and a little common sense is a must on these roads these days and I get the same problems as this truck driver with me driving big buses daily for a living.
Good lord. Atleast she moved, and didn't DEMAND you move. I do not envy you folks across the pond there with them narrow roads, no sir.
This reversing had me stressed out until I realised I could skip to the end 😆😆😆
BMW Golf and Audi drivers can be the worst then some people who drive these are stuck up and think they own the road
It’s hard to believe how some of these people got driving licenses at all!
AUDI - Absolutely Useless Driver Inside
The driving tests are difficult in the UK, how do we get to this point?
This has made my day 😂😂
I find that so many people don’t understand a simple rule of life.
I cant imagine being proud of that
Big brain car driver
I'm wondering if she's still crap at driving after 3years...embarrassing.
Nah with any luck she got the full 13 points and got banned for life.
Christ you can fit a tank in that pull in😂😂😂😂😂
Cool! We need streets like that in modern cities.
At least she didn't have the horsebox on that day lads
Thanks UA-cam for requesting I watch this
I've never laughed so much in ages
lmfao I like this one 😂😂😊
Just put the pedal to the floor and slam right through, it tends to sort them out.
We had a bloke at the warehouse. Could not reverse at all. First time I'd seen it. I just couldn't understand how anyone could get it so wrong.
It's so much worse when the driver doesn't understand they're in the wrong. How do you learn from your mistakes if you blame someone for what you did?
Must of literally blagged their way through the driving test, appalling driving skills with the easiest scenario being the car pulled into the first pull in section to allow the lorry too safely pass through down the lane... Suppose... Least the light's work on the audi car, nowadays all these new cars dont seem to come with indicators etc as they dont use them on the motorways etc 🙄😏
Maybe she ws scared to get stuck. Really weird scenario I know
@ShiftCtrl85 whatever... Troll 😏🙄😂😂😂
@ShiftCtrl85 must be a hard life being perfect... Oh well 🙄🙄🙄
@@jhwhthemerciful probably someone who got their license too long ago and has since developed very bad driving habits. People like her, if they are insecure in situations like this, should pay for a couple driving lessons and specify to the teacher to work on situations like this, if she can afford that nice audi she can afford a couple driving lessons to gain more confidence and competence on the road.
@@jinglemyberries866 Here in Belgium about 40 years ago people could get their license without any driving test whatsoever. Only thing that was required was having two arms, two legs and no criminal record. It obviously changed since then but is the same also true for America, or some of the states?
No way has she ever passed her driving test, absolutely clueless.
Well that sums up a woman.

Why the road is so narrow?
Typical British country/back road
Welcome to Britain
Britain
They didn’t think anything more than space for two horses were ever gonna be needed
As the others have said, these roads are many centuries old. Widening them would involve enormous property purchases/resumptions and would be hugely expensive and unpopular.
Why oh why did she not pull into the passing place on the right? That's what they are there for!!
I think she tried and gave up.. incredible skills
How did the Audi driver get their license? The space next to the road in the beginning is plenty big enough to fit in
didn't wanna get her car dirty in the siding haha
Hello Sean, may I use the clip in a compilation? I will give full credits in the video and description.
Yes of course no problem 👍
In Germany we say: „Audi, fünf Nullen. Vier an der Motorhaube und eine hinterm Steuer.“
Couldn't drive her finger into a bowl of custard🤣🤣🤣
Love how i can bet you with confidence that her car, she didn't buy🤣
Hahaha... I've seen a few people who are like that. It's ridicules that some people can't do it. And it's so funny to watch 🤔😅😂🤣
