      Yes September is lovely! This was filmed last year which is why you don't see masks and why you see more people. But much of what I said in the video is still true for this year, such as the weather and things to do.

    I have seen the Rome National Museum years ago and remember it wasn't crowded. I really don't remember the Basilica of Santa Maria, its on the list for 2021.

      Hi Kim, I assume you are referring to my recent Rome in September newsletter. Yes, both are worth visiting, the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Diocletian Baths as part of the Roma National Museum. Let me know what you think!

    This all great but we just found out that most of the city will be dug up, boarded up, or clogged up all in preparation for the Jubilee. Our hotel in Rome might have mentioned this was about to happen. Now what?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Місяць тому

      You may be interested in the most recent video I made which is about the 2025 Jubilee in Rome. I made a whole section about the preparations underway, and I show what is current under scaffolding/construction and what is not. I did this part for people like you who are planning to come in 2024 and are worried about things being boarded up.
      I truly believe if you are coming in the next few months to Rome, you will be able to enjoy MOST of the must-see sites without any obstacles, with these exceptions:
      The fountain in front of the pantheon (but NOT the Pantheon itself which is open normally)
      All 3 fountains in Piazza Navona (set to be ready before the end of the year)
      Michelangelo's Pietà and Bernini's Baldacchino inside Saint Peter's Basilica
      The angel bridge leading to Castel Sant'Angelo
      Piazza Venezia which is a 10-year+ project for the Metro C and unrelated to the Jubilee
      In the video, I show a lot of the must-see sites that are NOT under restoration, including the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Colosseum, Sistine Chapel. Also the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill are mostly free of scaffolding with few exceptions.
      I hope you find the video helpful.

    What do you call hot ? Bc I live in Miami and the Caribbean so my hot may vary from your hot my trip is mid September

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 місяці тому +1

      I'm from Florida and Rome can be like south Florida-hot. In fact, it's been that hot for the past few days (high 30's Celsius/ high 90's, low 100's Fahrenheit.) And Rome is like Florida in that it gets humid and muggy. So if you are used to that heat, the heat in Rome probably won't surprise you. On the other hand, if you are coming in September, it won't be as hot, which is why September is peak season.

    Hello Allysa, can we purchase tickets to the Pantheon ahead of time and just see it for ourselves? Also, can we just go into St. Peter's Basilica on our own and walk around if we go early in am? Thanks!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Рік тому

      Hello Cindy and thanks so much for watching my video. As of July 3, 2023, you do need a ticket to enter the Pantheon. You can watch my video about it here:
      ua-cam.com/video/UFEUxc4t2FU/v-deo.html
      Yes, you can purchase in advance although as I write to you now, tickets are available only up to the end of August. But as I mention in the video, you can even buy these tickets closer to your dates.
      And yes, absolutely you can go to St. Peter's Basilica on your own and walk around. Here are some tips for skipping the long lines to get in:

    Thanks for sharing! I'm actually visiting Italy Sept 26 - Oct 6 and I was always wondering about the weather. Would you say the weather is still pretty warm for long sleeveless sun dresses at the end of Sept/early Oct? I'll also be in Positano Oct 4-5.

      Yes, September is usually very high season so to avoid crowds you could come in winter (low season) or plan to visit sites very early or later in the day, and book ahead to avoid the queues.

      Buying leather is very subjective and a lot depends on your taste and also your budget. In Rome I suggest Sirni, Fausto Santini, or Mancini for top quality leather but you are looking at about 300-500 Euros for a bag. If you'd prefer to spend less, you can go with some of the popular brands such as Coccinelle or Carpisa.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Рік тому

      In Ancient Rome it would have been noon, but now it's around 1PM. I say around because it's not precise but you should plan to be inside by about 12:30 or 12:40 so you can watch it move.
