I remember the scene when you were driving by the pair of trucks. That is going to be an interesting build. I guess a little more effort than my own.. lol :)
Ive been wanting to do this with a detachable pod that could be put on a simple foundation to use as a small guest home when its not being used for camping. Theres a company called Tonke in the Netherlands that has a good loading/unloading system. Cant wait to see what you come up with.
Cool new project. I've been traveling around central America in a home made 4x4 camper and making vlogs too. I'm always looking for ways to improve my living/working space on the next camper build though, so I can't wait to see what you come up with for your build.
Thanks, Jed. Let us know what you think of the videos. We've improved, but we have a lot to learn when it comes to video production... and just about anything else for that matter: )
Looking at the gutter mount jerry can holders on your van - are these the Front Runner ones or are there others? Also you seem to be using British Army water jerry cans, which are a bit deeper than the standard 20l jerry cans I think - do these fit OK with the holders? I'm looking for a solution like this for mine.
Hi Jacob. Things are about to happen from now on as the panels for the habitation box arrived this week and are about to be assembled. I am still busy buying things for the camper conversion as time is on my side to pick up some bargains and have been stashing all that stuff away. A new video on The Managon should happen some time this month as I am planning a trip back to Adventure Trucks HQ when the box is on the truck and I can crack on with some other jobs. Jed
Jed that is going to be a serious expedition vehicle mate , are their plans to enlarge the family just to fill it ? Looking forward to the build keep the videos coming .
Cheers Clayton, no more kids for us, one is plenty! We are actually getting this build ready in plenty of time for when Isaac flies the nest and we can travel full time. Jed
Hi there how's it going. Can you tell me what the spare wheels came off. I've got old split rims on my one and would like to upgrade to what you got there? Any info would be great thanks.
Hi Jed, are you sharing the ideas and plans on a particular forum such Motorhome365/RVOVc.co.uk or fifth wheeler? Would be nice to nice what the plans are and what the layouts inside is to be. Would be nice to share your views and where you get the ideas. Where do plan to take the MANN travelwise?
I m blogging about it on the CampervanCulture.com website if you want to follow it. Check it out on this section, campervanculture.com/category/campervanculture-com/the-managon-project/
There isn't that much info out there on them hey! As it goes you can still get most things for them and there isn't a lot to the actual truck itself. Its the camper conversion and all the gear for that what is costing the money right now. Once this build is done and I am totally into it fully I expect people will be not so afraid of them and they will become the next big thing. I remember 12 years ago when you could get a 16' Syncro in Finland for £1000 and an LT 4X4 for under that because people were afraid of them. Now they are going for crazy money!
The optimal set up would be to move the engine to the rear so that the cab would not have to tilt up. That would be an altogether different project, especially given the transfer case and front drive shaft.
Hi. Nice MAN truck I got a MAN too. May I ask what box she will put on the back and are you putting the torsion free frame on top of the chassis to Best wishes Darren
Hi Darren, Yes, it will have a subframe on top of the chassis and then another frame moulded into the floor of the habitation pod. The pod will be bolted to the subframe and the subframe is fixed at the rear with spring mounts along the whole chassis to allow for flex. What MAN truck do you have? Jed
CampervanCulture.com Hi thank you for replying. Mine is a MAN LE160c 4x4 Just starting to look at building on her Hoping to find A good supplier for the Top chassis sprung frame and habitation box to be manufactured Best wishes Darren
You could give Adventure Trucks a go. Erik the owner is a really nice guy and doesn't have a set idea of how things have to be so will work with you and your ideas. He made the sub frame and is assembling the habitation unit then mounting it at his place. Once it is registered as a motor car van in NL then I can bring it to the uK and fit all the windows and interior and sort the cab out and stuff.
Adventure Trucks? Great ideia...i keep follow the CampervanCulture. Greetings from Portugal :-)
Fantastic is this! Really looking forward to seeing this truck evolve.
Thanks James.

Looks as though there will not be a walkthrough to the camper pod?
We are going to work in a crawl through to the cab. I wouldn't be to comfortable not having that access.
Jed
There is something special about being able to walk though :-)
The optimal set up would be to move the engine to the rear so that the cab would not have to tilt up. That would be an altogether different project, especially given the transfer case and front drive shaft.
