I’m Swedish. Other than singing in public, I break all of these rules 🤣. Especially buying candy whenever I want to and talking to people. I think a lot of it has to do with how you go about it.

I’m a mom, living in Sweden,
And I sneak eat candy when the kids are asleep if I want to eat it on a weekday. I even hide the candy wrapper in the trash. 😂😅Saturdays are the day we eat candy here if you are a kid, and it’s been like that for many decades.

I'm British-Swedish (my dad's side of the family is British and my mum's side is from Sweden) and I can confirm most of these are true

In like the 30s-50s children had really bad theeth. So they came up with saturday candy. Only candy on the weekend. (And it helped, the childrens teeth health got much better). I was born 65. So im 58 now. And i still try to only eat candy on the weekends.

I'm swedish and yes, swedes like their space, but it's a personal preference. However, if you sit down next to someone when there's a dual seat empty, you will get some nasty looks. If every such seat has at least one person in it, then the looks are mainly "so you had to pick the seat next to me".
The candy thing is for weekends, due to candy causing kids that eat too much sugar to crash and then not focus in school the next day. But on saturdays they can get an entire bag to snack on instead of just a single chocolate bar.
The singing in public is not really a thing. It's just that it doesn't happen very often, but people that sing loudly are usually viewed as being happy.
Swedes are reserved in nature. We need some kind of icebreaker first, like asking for directions to something. We don't normally talk to strangers about things that aren't related to our days. However we are more outgoing if we are at an event, because even if we are strangers, we are both there to enjoy the event and have something in common.
The shoes thing is just common sense. If you have to have shoes inside, you use shoes you haven't walked outside with. Less to clean. A lot of houses here have carpets or carpeted floors and don't want people to bring dirt from outside inside. But unlike the japanese we have a place for the shoes inside, rather than somewhere outside the doors.
The elevator part is not really a thing. It's a personal space thing, just as with transportation, but you are definitely allowed to go in the same elevator. However we also give other people their space.

Saturday is known in Sweden as the CANDY DAY! ...Its the only day you as a child are allowed to eat candy :-) - Its from very early Childhood....And believe it ..It was the same for me some 30 years ago. Its because its not healthy to eat alot of sugar...and the parents teach their kids from very young ages...and has done so as long as I can remember

that "rule" was not when I grew up as a child in the 60's, don't know at what time it came.

What funny is that a lot of these things are also done in the upper Midwest in the USA b/c of the culture being similar.

Naw dawg, this aint really correct.... I like some smalltalk now and then, depends on the situation and mood. Sitting next to someone on the bus is something we do if there really is no other seat. Personal space in general = yes please! 🙂The elevator-thing, well this is just not true - we ride together! He maybe describing sharing the elevator with a neighbor we don´t like. Cheers from Sweden, Neal! Keep up the good work!
