A buttload of community service, a program like scared straight, and maybe even court ordered role models for the kid, and of course juvi time. But sending a kid to adult facilities for a non violent crime is injustice

    • @AntonioPerales-bb8pm
      @AntonioPerales-bb8pm 9 місяців тому +17

      Yes, but how are those parents themselves created? What social factors go into influencing ratty parental behaviour, or the absence, or lack of any positive parental influence on children? My own parents expressed a valuing of hard work, honesty and thrift as well, but uneducated, clumsy and short sighted about their own unchallenged values, raised a couple of sticky fingered monsters, who showered non-stop adulation on them to get access to more and more of their money and property, and who now pose as "propertied, socially responsible and socially concerned activists." Go figure.

      The big movement away from Biblical notions of right and wrong was during the 60s and 70s as the Boomers came of age and many of them embraced and pushed postmodern thought into politics and culture. But ultimately each person is responsible for their own actions.

    *UPDATE:* He was charged as an adult. ✔ His name is Terry Berger Smith. He was charged with four counts of 'Sexual Battery' (the legal term for 'Rape' in Florida) and also for one count of kidnapping. His arrest affidavit stated that he told the victim that he had been watching her & that he wanted to add her to his “collection.” At *12 years old,* he attempted to rape a woman *at knifepoint* & during the attempted rape, he ripped out the victim's tooth and kept it as a 'trophy.'
    During the rape that he was charged (as an adult) for, he stomped on the victim and repeatedly raped her, livestreaming part of the attack to his friend. The victim asked him if he had any diseases. He told her "I have AIDS."
    _If_ he had been charged as only a _juvenile_ (& convicted), he would have received only 3 years in a juvenile detention center & would have been on probation until he turns 21. ~ I haven't been able to find any info about his court/sentencing for the rape he was charged as an adult for. (Are the courts _still_ backlogged from the pandemic?? That might explain the delay.)

      Some parents don't take care about their children at all. In my country, there's a case where a group of teens got run down by a car because they decide to ride their bikes in the middle of the night with no lights in the middle of a highway! They blame the car driver when it's their fault not making sure their children at home at 2am! Honestly this case made me furious because it could happen to anyone, even me. Drivers should not be prosecuted because of stupid children doing stupid things!

He does not need to be be trusted by any woman or a woman with children in the future cause at some point he will be released. This is sad. He’s 14 but he knows right from wrong - and there is a problem within himself, he needs psychiatric help. Something isn’t right. Hope the victim is recovering.
