  • In this video, I provide my 60-day update on this #carnivorediet journey. It's week #9 on #carnivore and my A1c has finally broken below 6.0! As a #type2diabetic, my goal is to use the carnivore diet/lifestyle to reverse my #type2diabetes. This means my primary goal is not #weightloss (although that is a nice side benefit) but lowering and stabilizing my #bloodsugar with an #a1c target of less than or equal to 5.5 (average fasting glucose of ~ 110), reaching a "normal" triglyceride level, and increasing my HDL cholesterol so that I can live a #drug-free lifestyle as I move forward toward #retirement where food acts as my pharmaceuticals and helps my body stave off the ailments that often come with old age.
I have added some approximate time codes below if you want to skip any sections.

Thanks so much for charting your journey and delighted for your progress! I wonder about the salt thing and if we really need to add so much. Not sure which hunter gatherers would have done that. What do you think?

According to other long term Carnivores on UA-cam, after you get through your fat adaptation phase, you should not need to add salt. There should be enough sodium, potassium, and magnesium in the foods you consume. That said, your guess is as good as mine. Since right now I am a 1-man guinea pig, I do not plan on heavily salting my food after my initial 90-days. I noticed that my blood pressure is not going down. I think the added salt is one of the reasons. Once I get my labs back at the end of the initial 90-day period, I will share the results and potentially make some changes.

@@retirementramblings Thanks so much for the thoughtful response. Yes, I think it makes sense that you wouldn't need to add it after a certain point (unless someone has a medical condition which causes salt wasting). I'd suggest reducing the salt slowly though as the body takes time to adapt the change and ramp up its own hormones to conserve salt by itself. Look forward to future videos.
