Did anyone notice any residue on their white sneakers using this method? I just asked chatgpt and it said cleaning with laundry detergent would be more advisable. 1:1 is pretty concentrated for castile soap. Also a laundry detergent contains enzymes and a bunch of other fancy chemicals. Any negative experiences here?
I've heard that a 1:3 ratio is best for castile soap and that applying foaming soap is preferable to applying liquid soap, especially when it comes to suede.
@@miaomiaochan Oh yeah castile soap did leave yellow residue on my white sneakers that may be permanent. Good old laundry detergent delivered best results. Also water quality matters; the cleaner the better.
if you've ever seen a bottle of dr.bronner, it's plastered with information over the entire thing, including dilution directions for different applications (window cleaning, body washing, dishwashing, etc etc). well now they can add shoe cleaning lol
For the soap use dawn it’s safe for white shoes. Why dawn? It uses an ingredient to remove grease from ducks. Grease is the dark dirt stains in white shoes
It's sort of a multipurpose, all in one soap. You can use it for a variety of difference purposes when you dilute it enough, if that makes sense. I'm sure they have more detail and information on their website!
It doesn't matter what scent you use. I picked one with a scent that way if my shoes smelled bad, the scent would get rid of it. It's just up to you whether or not you wanted scented vs unscented and then what scent, specifically, you want.
Wait if you said that its the same price as the premium solutions how is it wasting money to buy the premium solutions? They come with a brush and have other chemicals to help added in, so wouldnt the premium solution actually be a better deal of its the same price but comes with extra stuff?
Snacking Badger the Dr.Bronners Castile soap was the same price for 32oz while name brands charge a lot and sell in 8oz. Also, after you run out of solution why would you buy a brush and the solution if you just need the solution. You can buy Dr.Bronners 16oz for the same price as name brand 8oz.
There is no "type". Only brand. It's all essentially the same. You really can't go wrong. It will be varying consistencies, from vaseline consistency, to more of a honey, but once it's at temperature it's the same product at the end of the day. The color differences you see, are varying amounts of air, from whipping the oil into more of a cream, and from different collection techniques. Organic is pointless if you aren't eating it. Keep that in mind, and save yourself the pretentious price.
Either one works fine. If you want to try out this method, I got the product from a local Target and then just diluted it with water. Chances are, you probably have some laundry detergent at home and you can use that as well, just dilute it with water too.
The Dr bronner one came out looking better, mans just killed the whole shoe cleaner markup game, amazing. “Sneaker cleaner companies hate him for this 1 crazy secret” 😂
I tried cleaning my nike mesh this morning but got yellowish stain ! this is not good specially for expensive shoes! castile is only good for skin or hair, but not 100% safe for sneakers.
It’s a sneaker guys not rocket science. I use household detergents hell even some degreaser rinse fine and add some leather conditioner for a dull shine. Gees
So I personally didn't get jojoba oil and mixed it in - I took a premixed sample that I bought from a grocery store (watch til the end of the vid) and mixed that 1:1 with water
I know this is 3 years old but usually suede will begin to bleed because of the water not the soap so you have to be very careful not to get the suede too wet. Afterwards you can usually use a suede brush to get its texture back to normal after it’s dried. If the color got really messed up you can color it back by using Angelus leather paint mixed with some 2-soft (which is also sold by angelus) to re color the suede.
The background music is very annoying and unnecessary. But, the bronner soap at Walmart is by the shampoo and conditioner section. Not in the cleaning Isle btw. Works good and the big bottle will probably last me years.
The music is too loud man, I’m sorry I don’t wanna be nit picky or a critic buh i can barely hear you Im interested in what you say buh the music is loud
When I used the 1:1 ratio, is settled quite nicely. It probably depends on the type of water that you use - some places have hard water and some have soft. If you want it to be completely mixed, just shake it up before pouring out.
Try Fels Naptha bar soap. It would be in the laundry aisle. I feel the dr bonners attracted more dirt afterwards due to it being oil based. Anything with white mesh would look dingy. Still use dr bonners, but not on my shoes.
