Awesome video. I'm going to link your video in my video description because your video, in opinion, is one of 2 of the best videos showing how to tell a fake.
I got a real gwg 1000 paid the full retail for it. I love it only had it for about 3 months and I feel like I got my money worth. Knowing I'm probably gonna kick the bucket before my watch does. Worth it.
The "REC" mode is for the altimeter, it records your highest and lowest elevations, and the difference between the two. The R/C is to be able to tell whether the watch received a radio signal or not.
I bought the GWG-2000 from a local Casio watch dealer near to where I live. It is absolutely authentic. Works terrific, and functions exactly how I like. I have a number of Casio exploration type watches. All are terrific. As for accuracy I had it checked. It should keep to a bit better than +2 seconds per month. Most electronic quartz watches I have are keeping from about +1 to about +8 seconds per month. As for the accuracy of the barometer, compass, and the altitude these watches are very accurate when considering the cost. They are accurate enough for hobby use. I like this watch a lot. It is not much different from the GWG-1000 from what I can see; other than the slight difference in the styling of the watch.
The original one i noticed has the CHI on the 10 around the bezel. The fake one with the camo had it in between the 9 and the ten. But the red one had that!😆 Good video!
Didn't even know this was possible on Amazon to be honest. Went on here to figure out why the crown didn't work. So thank you for the information. Again it was purchased on Amazon for $650!
@@ashwin2101 returned it like anything else on Amazon. No problem at all. Refunded the money within 24 hours. I left a review of the seller, and within a week I couldn't find their store! Dont know what happened with them.
@@Dragandspinn ohh....its great that amazon came to the rescue. Because i have ordered the same gwg 1000 watch on amazon and i have a gut feeling that its gonna be a fake one . that's why im searching everywhere for answers. It has a 10 day return policy thats why i placed the order. I hope its an original one.😅
@@ashwin2101 Nice. As much as I love the watch (I never got one) I ended up getting another ABC G shock for around 400 that I absolutely love. But IMO a Garmin Fenix or Tactix is the way to go.!
@@Dragandspinn oh.. Really? After you returned why didnt you bother to get a new original one? After all you had paid almost the MSRP price on amazon. And which other watch did you buy (g shock you told) ?
I saw a used mudmaster on ebay for 65 dollars, on the back of the case it says gba-400 but I looked it up and a bluetooth g shock turned up and looks completely different. Then I looked deeper and found the model GWG1000-1A which looks exactly like the ebay one. Would the ebay one be a fake? Or could it be an old model with different model number?
Quick question would the fake strap fit an original mudmaster my straps broken. And seen mudmasters online for £30 and thinking of buying just for strap
the one thing i cant wrap my head around is how can they research, developp, produce such a detail complexe watch and still make some money. there are many many hours involved in R&D and many thousands spend in equipment and molds to reproduce all these parts. how can they manage to efficiently make them and make some profit when selling under 100$
I received my gwg-1000-1a3er today, all seemed fine until i wandered why the crown Button just kept turning and it also just pulled completely out. Secondly i wandered why only the hour/min hands glowed in the dark and not the numerals. The glass screen just doesn't sound right when tapped, i have a sapphire screen on my seiko divers watch and it sounds and feels solid. Im sending it back to house of fraser store.
@@GiShockGo i managed to return and get a refund, it took ages but finally, i then got hold of a genuine g shock casio MUDMASTER from G shock Casio, i paid a hundred more but it learnt me a lesson to never buy cheap! .
I was sent with a fake from Mercari..currently disputing..but I must admit..this fake is pretty darn good... even the hand moves to the right mode when you access the mode... the band, the back plate, I mean it looks real. What I caught was.. I wasn't able to adjust the hour and the minute hands individually (but it does sync up with the digital clock correctly) ... and the lume. Showed it to my friends, and they all were impressed with this fake...no kidding. They said, if the seller willing to admit this is a fake and sells it for $50 or so....my friends would buy them.....that's how crazy good fake this watch was.
Excellent video man. Let me ask you, wich one are the G-Shock models that comes with a nylon velcro band? I use to have a green one around 2001 and I haven't been able to find it again. Thank you
Longboard TxCo there's not many models. Top of my head model DW003 Has Velcro bands. Good news is you can buy adapters and use Velcro on literally almost every G-Shock.
why you "genuine" has 2 series of numbers.. in backplate, 1little left from center line and 1 in right.. usually there's only one in the middle which shows factory and date of manufacturing... only more high end G Shocks has actually individual serial number
I knew all this but one thinG didn't know it had a metal keeper thanks a person sell this For 40 dollars yeah riGht all the experts know what's GoinG on
He didn't say alternator, he said "alti-meter" people from other countries do not pronounce our words exactly the same as we do, but he did not say alternator. Listen again.
I know this is an old video and those watches are very, very bad replicas. Nowadays exists "inspirations" too much similar, even scary. The same backplate, same screws, those have functional sensors with temperature and compass. I think the only thing they can make functional is the baro. So, watch out... the imitators have evolved a lot!
Thanks for this. I'm shopping for a mudmaster and this was informative.

The grey can be fake but is a really nice color scheme. Casio should make the same color scheme
Anyone else notice the the hands on the "fake" watch aren't even moving. You might need to put a battery in it before saying nothing works
It's a fake so that explains why it doesn't work 🙄
The display was working tho.
so the real mudmaster should have 2 batteries right ?
Those were really bad fake. I've found a near-real fake which is difficult to tell the difference and some sellers sell them like at 400 to 500 too.
