- I took Bobu and Han Meimei to visit one of Chengdu's spectacular tourist spots, the Le Shan Big Buddha. Even though it was raining, the place did not disappoint! And of course, we had to try out some of the local snacks.

i think people would prefer eating fried rice with spoon rather than chopsticks in general, including Chinese. lovely parents=]
yes, im chinese, i always eat fried rice with spoon.
depend on using plate or bowl..... if fried rice serve in bowl, using chopsticks.
You're right. If you want to take a dish, you can use your left hand to spoon and your right hand to chopsticks, which is very convenient.But if fried rice is in a bowl, only chopsticks are used.

米饭是放在碗里吃的时候用筷子，西式的吃饭放在盘子里用叉子加刀比较方便。

我特別討厭用盤子裝米飯的餐廳，特別討厭，完全不適合中餐餐具的使用方式，只顧餐廳自己好。
中餐的禮儀是以碗就口，將碗端上至嘴吧附近用餐，用筷子吃米飯的前提是把米飯裝在碗裡，把碗端起來吃。把米飯在盤子裡完全做不到，放在盤子裡即便是用湯匙也很難用，餐廳自己只顧擺盤好看，完全不雇用餐體驗，很差勁的做法。
折衷是附帶小碗，餐廳可以端一盤米飯，但要附帶小碗供客人分裝，如果只是一大盤直接端出來，這家很差。

Your parents are adorable. Haha, your dad picking up grains of rice with chopsticks. Give the man a spoon! Anyways, Leshan Buddha is AWESOME! I went there a few years ago, and the sheer marvel of the statute... photos and videos don't do it justice. I recommend seeing it from the top, walk down the stairs to his feet and look up, and also take the boat tour you took. Definitely worth visiting that general area in China: Jiuzhaigou + Chengdu pandas + Leshan Buddha.
