  • This recording of our monochord bed was made while I was offering distance Reiki Healing
    We hope you enjoy the magical sounds of the monochord as they ebb and flow, noticing any thoughts you may have but not engaging with those thoughts, simply relax and let the Reiki energy work with you if you wish to receive.

    It's the best sound I heard in monochords. What brand is it?

    • @sound-and-silence
      @sound-and-silence  Рік тому +7

      Hi Lola it was made in Switzerland in the late 1980s maybe early 1990s this is number 27 that was made by Joachim Marz of Naturtonmusik in Switzerland naturtonmusik.ch/ and the company was passed to one of his students in 2020 and is still going well. We saw this one for sale in the UK on ebay about 6 or 7 years ago. It has 55 strings and we have tuned half to D and the other A.
      It's worth looking up Joachim Marz and his work with the monochord bed that he designed to be used in hospitals.
      The very first sound you hear on the score from the film The Lord of the Rings is a monochord bed the same as ours being played with a cello bow by jazz musician Sonia Slavey.
      I need to play the bed regularly to toughen up my finger pads because the strings are metal and playing for too long can cause blisters.
      it's a beautiful instrument in all ways, this is heavy though and not really transportable but they now make a version of this bed with wheels, the bed also comes apart into four pieces for ease of transport. This one needs to be carried as it is so difficult to get round tight corners and you need a long wheel based vehicle to transport it.
      Thank you for your comments - best wishes Pam

    Is this a Feeltone Momocord? I'd love to have one.

    • @sound-and-silence

      This is an old Kotodama harp / monochord that has had several previous owners. We take this one out with us to the group soundbaths sometimes. The feeltone monochords are beautiful and easier to transport and probably stay in tune longer than ours.
      Did you know that the first sound on the musical score of Lord of the rings is a monochord bed made by Joachim Marz in Switzerland and played by Jazz Musician Sonia Slavey with a cello bow. The bed is similar to the bed we have in a couple of our other videos (we have no 27) he developed the monochord beds back in the 1980s. Search the names history it’s lovely.
      To lay on the table while it’s being played is a beautiful experience, like flying / floating in sound.
      I hope you get a monochord one day soon - enjoy.
      Best wishes - Pam

    Could you tell me if this monochord has one note of two? I feel one bass and sometimes the fitht, but I don't know if this 5th is overtone or natural note from the monochord.

    • @sound-and-silence
      @sound-and-silence  Рік тому +2

      Hi Lola We have tuned the bed to D and A
      What tends to happen once I start playing is the interplay between the two notes goes on to produce other notes, sometimes what seems to be a whole choir. The sound is beautiful to tone with and I do this often but sometime people say they hear singing and I haven't made a sound.
      It does sound different when there is someone on the bed having a sound therapy treatment.
      Best wishes - Pam :)

      @@sound-and-silence ok. Sorry for my questions but I love the sound. How many strings of A has got the monochord? They are together or distributed along the instrument?

    • @sound-and-silence
      @sound-and-silence  Рік тому +2

      @@lolacases5330 We have 28 tuned to D and 27 tuned to A and all the D tuned strings are together and the A are together. I tend to start by using the A and then play further under the bed so a mixture of A and D moving into just D and then coming back up to a mix of D and A towards the end.
      We have an instrument that has Kyoto harp one side and monochord the other that we take out to our sound baths sometimes and with the monochord we tune them D then A then D then A all the way across the strings. That monochord has 25 strings and we play as part of the sound bath at the end, usually with toning. :)
