I think you will be saying, "absolute best version of that song" a LOT as you get into the Christmas journey. What they have, and use, more than most other, is dynamics. They blast you with a wall of harmony, then drop you off the cliff and pull back to Kevin's angelic voice. Angels We Have Heard On High O Come All Ye Faithful And of course, The Prayer, just released. Really, you can't go wrong.
Just wait until you start listening to cuts from Evergreen. The Prayer will have you on the floor. This will always be my favorite version of Mary Did You Know.

Yes!!! This IS the best rendition of "Mary, Did You Know" that I have EVER heard! It has been a favorite Christmas song of mine for a number of years and I have heard many fine renditions, but Pentatonix' version just touches my soul. So glad you FINALLY got around to it! Yes, a lot of Pentaholics have come to realize that any day can be a Pentatonix day, regardless of the type of song they're singing. Their vocals, harmonies and arrangements are so entertaining that folks are appreciating their renditions of Christmas songs throughout the year.
Definitely best version, and I know you'll probably check it out but their new video for the Prayer, OMG...I cry EVERY TIME I listen to it! I have a feeling you'll be crying a lot at their concert, I've cried at the 2 I went to and I'll be a hot mess at their Christmas one, lol
I couldn’t agree more about scott and avi’s voices together being a treat. I think that pairing is a bit more prominent in their christmas music because many of the songs are more traditional choral arrangements etc. i really like their carol of the bells and drummer boy. Both feel like scott and avi pair up more in those two songs. Because one of them is usually taking the bass line, i think the pairing is a bit more rare than other pairings. And it’s gorgeous.
When Kevin pops in, his voice feels like innocence. He's beyond talented in every aspect of life it seems and he's humble and genuine and stands up for his beliefs. I love their videos that are very simple and use nature as their background. Those seem to be the one's that punch me in the gut with so many feelings!

Matt is very good, but Avi will always hold a special place in my heart. You are right, this is the BEST version I’ve ever heard of this song. The first time I heard this song was by a singer, Jubilant Sykes. l love Jubilant Sykes and his version of this song so much that I listened to a number of versions. I had never heard of Pentatonix but when I heard them sing this song, I have never listened to another rendition of this song. Pentatonix owns this song for me.

This song was written by Mark Lowry (and the music later by Buddy Greene) and it is absolutely stunning to hear the man who wrote it singing it the way he felt it as he wrote it. He sang it with Voctave; that is a very emotional slower version, but the Pentatonix arrangement is still my favorite. This was the first song by them that I ever heard and have been hooked ever since. Kevin has such an innocent and pure-sounding voice. PTX doesn't do covers...they do upgrades!
Like everyone else, I think this rendition is in a class by itself. What I am about to say is not to challenge that, but to respond to you requ6 and offer a suggestion of a version you may not be aware. That is Voctave's version with with Matt Lowry, the song's composer. Both are amazing!
This was the one. I heard this and Little Drummer Boy on the radio and loved them. On repeated listenings, I began to realize the background was a person not a musical instrument. I started looking at the radio station to find out who the band was and tumbled down the rabbit hole and I’m still there.
You are in for a real treat when you go see them live! Their Christmas tour is absolutely AMAZING! They will do this one for sure. I saw their Christmas tour in Connecticut the year before the COVID pandemic started and it was, by far, the best concert I’ve ever been to! There are not enough wonderful adjectives to describe how they make you FEEL when they sing. This one and Hallelujah are the most beautiful songs to hear live. 100% agree! This is by far the best version of this song I’ve ever heard. Their humming at the beginning is by itself one of the most hauntingly beautiful sounds I’ve ever heard & the chills bumps continue to build from there.
The way they sing they make you FEEL the song
The first time I heard this song was by a singer, Jubilant Sykes. l love Jubilant Sykes and his version of this song so much that I listened to a number of versions. I had never heard of Pentatonix but when I heard them sing this song, I have never listened to another rendition of this song. Pentatonix owns this song for me.

This song was written by Mark Lowry (and the music later by Buddy Greene) and it is absolutely stunning to hear the man who wrote it singing it the way he felt it as he wrote it. He sang it with Voctave; that is a very emotional slower version, but the Pentatonix arrangement is still my favorite. Your reactions to Pentatonix are so much how I felt the first time I heard this and how I still feel 6 years later! Thank you for being here!

Like everyone else, I think this rendition is in a class by itself. What I am about to say is not to challenge that, but to respond to you requ6 and offer a suggestion of a version you may not be aware. That is Voctave's version with with Matt Lowry, the song's composer. Both are amazing!
This was the one. I heard this and Little Drummer Boy on the radio and loved them. On repeated listenings, I began to realize the background was a person not a musical instrument. I started looking at the radio station to find out who the band was and tumbled down the rabbit hole and I’m still there.

You are in for a real treat when you go see them live! Their Christmas tour is absolutely AMAZING! They will do this one for sure. I saw their Christmas tour in Connecticut the year before the COVID pandemic started and it was, by far, the best concert I’ve ever been to! There are not enough wonderful adjectives to describe how they make you FEEL when they sing. This one and Hallelujah are the most beautiful songs to hear live.
