Yay!! I'm so pumped to hear this video is helpful! I definitely thought it might be too in the weeds, but it's such an important part of associate life that I wanted people to have the tips I wish I did when I started :)
Top 7 Tips 1. Clear To/CC lines (0:23) 2. "To confirm" email (4:19) 3. Single out someone by name (1:30) 4. Never end an email with a question (6:27) 5. Set a response deadline (7:49) 6. Never send Friday-evening email (9:13) 7. Proofread your emails before sending them (10:26)
Another suggestion is to start each email with why you are writing it and briefly what the conclusion is (similar to the style of the “to confirm” email). For example, “Angela, you asked me whether there are any cases supporting our client’s current deduction of salary expenses. As explained in further detail below, the majority of cases in the Fifth Circuit hold that …”. Partners do not want to read to the end of a 10 or 20 paragraph email to learn why you are sending them the email and what the conclusion is. This also applies to voicemail.

I'm using this video to help build a email requested letter to all parties for child custody. Hopefully it will work and get me back in court, as court was ran with out my knowledge and missed court 😒
This is such great content. People aren't making videos on this type of minutia, and it's so helpful!
