An important part of the pharmacovigilance cycle is collecting and analysing reports of potential side effects of medicines, contributing to our knowledge on side effects and helping patients make more informed decisions about their treatment.
Another, equally important, part of this cycle is making sure new safety information reaches and is discussed with patients. Patient organisations are proven facilitators of communication around side effects, creating a safe environment for patients to exchange experiences among peers and healthcare professionals.
