Wonderful! It brought to my mind the BBC recording made (I believe) in the 40's where a woman played her cello in her garden and a Nightingale sang along with her. Animals do respond to music no doubt about that.
Above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it. ~ Roald Dahl
He seemed so moved as he played, I could feel his tears just as my own eyes welled... Moved by the music, moved by the surrounding beauty, moved by birdsong... triple-moved.
Absolutely phenomenal & mesmerizing performance... music and nature are the most wonderful treasures to be found on earth. The birds seemed to perform and sing more beautiful with your wonderful cello melody floating in amongst the trees 🤍🤍🤍
Magnificent composition, drawing on all YYM's many beautifully ingested heritages, and an original piece of transcendent beauty; making near reference to 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' as well as a suggestion of the Quatuor pour la fin du temps. The sideways gloomy modulations to modal near minor seem to owe something to Walton, and suggest the crisis of the late 1930s. There is a drone-like, almost raga like, backing track, I think, to which YYM adds melismas all the way from the alto register to something (at the end) deliberately avian.
The dictionary says that music can be defined as an organized sound. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. John Cage made us aware in his composition 4'33 that music is any sound or silence. The sound of birds chirping, the crack of thunder, or the honk of a car is music. Even complete silence is music. The composition, In The Gale, combines the random sounds of birds with beautiful melodies on a cello. The combination is remarkable. John Cage would have thoroughly enjoyed this piece as much as anyone.
A wonderful video that shines with pure good energy.

Every trip to the Berkshires sounds like this if you just stop....
How I wish I am there in that moment when nature and exquisite music meld. So heavenly.
BeUtiful
Thank you earth. 💓
What a beautiful performance! It’s so captivating.
My soul drank that in. I loved how he seemed to be playing for the birds at the end. What a beautiful way to spend his huge talent.

When I used to practice piano with doors and windows open, I was amazed at how birds warbled with the music.
Thank you, Sir!
Beautiful experience. Thank you for sharing your story.
That's exactly what I love doing.. playing piano or the guitar while the birds are singing. My favourite evening and Sunday pastime.

A dock on a lake. A banjo player practicing. The beaver and the muskrat swinging by, seemingly to listen. Music is a universal language.
Instant tears. Maestro Ma is such a treasure
Pure heaven... I've been looping this for an hour now. Thank you Yo Yo Ma and Anne Clyne for making the world a better place to be. Please don't stop

Thinking of Robert Fripp's Music for Quiet Moments as I listen to this.
Yo Yo Ma is a True Legend, it’s literally a godsend that I had chance to his concert.
The year is 2035, newborns listen to this to hear a living forest and birds. It is the only surviving record.

Touched my heart. ❤
Love this!
so beautiful
Does anyone know where this is? What beautiful bird song! What beautiful togetherness.
You can’t tell by the songs because they’ve mixed a European Nightingale over top of some US birds like Carolina wren, Eastern Phoebe and blue jay.
I need the physical LP collection. I love this project so much.
That sounds creepy what're you gonna do with it
@@__414.88b_ I play it! On my record player! It's a beautiful collection, too.
If you liked this, you'll (possibly) love "Jazz Loon!."
this shit is a vibe omg
wow! this is beautiful - also, I hope he didn't get a mosquito bite through that hat!
Can u play that cello song
where is Anna Clyne?
are the birds really there or prerecorded.they sound very clear for being in the background.
The nightingale has been dubbed in-it’s from Europe.
How does Rocky Balboa say hello to his mother?
Answer: Yo, Yo, Ma
😁😅🤣
!
Do you have one without the background orchestra, I think it completely distracts from the cello and birds.
