Troubleshooting and fixing a hard starting or not starting Husqvarna 22 HP Mower - Навчання та стиль
Oh wizard of the Husqvarna lawn tractor. I was experiencing the same issue and was getting pretty frustrated. Didn't want to take it in and pay a huge bill for what may have been a simple problem. Watched your video and went out and checked and it was the same exact problem I had. Less than five minutes and the tractor runs normal now. THANK YOU very much for this video!
It worked! you helped me get my mower running today. Thank you! No more stress! The mower kept cranking and cranking, but would not start. The choke cable needed tightening .
Awesome, glad I was able to help you
Thank you so much for this video! We couldn't get our Husqvarna to start and had replaced our spark plugs and battery but wasn't sure what else the issue could be. This was one of the videos I came across and decided to try this first and it finally started and fixed our issue! You saved us a lot of time and stress!
Glad to help, thank you for watching.
I had had a problem for two years and I saw what you did and that’s what I did put the hand over to choke it and I fixed it just like you did hey man thanks keep doing what you’re doing I love your video short and to the point
Thanks for watching! Glad I could help
Dam im glad I found this video! Thanks man. I had same issue after owning it for 1 year. And for the last 6 years it took me 5-8 mins of messing with it before it finally starts on like the 20th try. Now it starts like new! So the choke cable shoulda been torqued to higher specs from factory
Glad it helped, seems to be a common problem. I had to adjust again this year though... it might be a design flaw.
A great video. It was very helpful. Your camera work and audio was also on point.
Thanks so much, this was my problem! After I followed your advice it started right up
I had comments off on this video by mistake, so I never got feedback last year. I'm surprised how many are having the same issue. Thanks for watching!
Bro you are the man!!! I've been taking the filter out and cranking it that way, and today I did some research and came across your video. Thank you 🫡
Thanks! Glad it helped you out
Your video was awesome and to the point I loved it told me what problem I had and how to fix it it was a quick fix and thank you very much my Husqvarna is working great now starts right up on the first crank.
Thanks for this video, helped me finally figure out the problem after hours of trying to figure out what was wrong adjusted the throttle like you said fired right up! You sir are a hero!
Awesome to hear, there can always be many other things. I kinda hoped I had some problems with it this year so I could make another video but it fired right up.
Thank you same rider I have awesome save me moneys
Glad it helped!
My daughter bought a used one those same mowers this year for me because it's been getting hard for me to use the little push mower I had and she got a sweet deal on it too. It was in just as good of shape as the one in this video but it too was hard to start. Some days it just wouldn't start at all so I finally pulled a spark plug and it was just black. I replaced the plugs and it starts and runs like a champ now.
Your so right. Don't be afraid to dive into something and at least try to figure it out. Good video, appreciate it.
Ask me about rebuilding a ford escape transmission... lol can't win em all.
this was spot on, never would have checked that, great no bs video
Thanks! Glad it helped
Thanks! That saved me a costly repair. This was my exact problem.
Glad to help! Thanks for watching
Thank bud I had this problem till I watched your video thank you..
Glad this helped!
Hey mine also started when i cover the hole and took the filter off ! thanks i almost sell it for the cheap
Your video did the trick for me as well! Thank you sir!!!
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video. Same issue on my mower, got it fixed in 5 min
Glad it helped! This video has surprised me. I didn't expect it to be so useful.
Thank you dude you help me out a lot I fix my issue😅😅
You're welcome! It's crazy how common this problem is with these. Glad it helped you out
I am definitely mechanically-retarded when it comes to this shit. Clicked on your video because it was the shortest. Put my hand over that intake and boom…started right up. Really appreciate your post. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback. I get into some pretty involved projects and this comment actually gave me an ah-ha moment... some of the simplest things are going to help more people... noted, and I'm going to look for more opportunities like this.
@@The.Odyssey I’m sure you have a lot of knowledge doing what you do. The last thing people want to do when searching for help in a pinch is have to scroll through long introductions, unedited videos, and drawn-out descriptions. Short videos that are to-the-point are appreciated, and usually useful.
My father asked me this morning how my lawnmower was running. I told him “Great, but I had to UA-cam how to get it started”. He, of course, already knew the remedy, but it was nice NOT having to call to ask him when I was “in a pinch” to cut the grass before dark. So… thanks again. I will probably have to use this remedy again next spring.
Thank you! Fixed my problem
Awesome! Seems this is more common than I anticipated. Although mine started up fine this year, I'm going to do a small series on this tractor showing how to troubleshoot other starting issues and fix them.
Much love bro
When you said for $100 and 5 mins of work i was wondering what you bought 😂 but it was the mower for $100
I was talking about this with someone the other day, said I can't remember if I paid 100 or 150... guess I should watch my videos :)
Yup that was my problem too, thank you sir!
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know
Nice, this is a helpful vid, thanks!
Thanks for watching! Glad it helped you
SOAB I’ve had to use starting fluid since I bought my mower 8 years ago never thought to check the choke. Adjusted the cable starts every time now dang
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Dam, instant fix. Thankyou
No problem! Thanks for watching
Would you know what the carb throttle body plate gap when choking it is? As mine msg need to be adjusted.
Thanks for the video
I just adjusted it so it was closed when choked. Didn't take a measurement
Acabo de comprar uno de esos tractores y cuando lo pongo en marcha se apaga agradecería tu ayuda
Well, now I have something else to check. I have new plugs and fuel is flowing but mine won't start either. I sure hope this works for me
Let me know if it does
It did not. It sounds exactly like urs
@sacarver13 have you checked for spark with the new plugs? You may need to clean or replace the coil if there is still no spark. I believe I shot footage on how to do this, let me know and I will put it together.
Funny how your video was clipped here and there but thanks for the video
It's 3 minutes long. Kinda hard to do that without clipping. Most of my videos start with hours of footage and I cut it down to what is needed so I can keep the attention of all you goldfish out there.
Awesome Awesome video thank you!
Thanks for watching. Glad it helped
@The.Odyssey it did I even slung the cover like you did and ripped out the filter! Thanks. Keep the videos coming. Lol
@@robertblevins4076 perfect, that is a very important step
@@The.Odyssey I figured it was! Lol
I changed the carburetor last time and it worked fine . Today, i wanted to cut grass but the same issue . It’s having a hard time to start . I tried your method but still does not start
Have you checked for spark?
My lawn guy moved mine. Is there something on the back that can keep it from starting
The release for the hydrostatic drive is in the back. I don't think it would keep it from starting, though. The engine doesn't crank?
Mine started fine but not enough power on a little hill stopped and hasitiating running help please
How are you able to start it without setting on it or pushing in that little clutch type thing on the left?
The parking brake was on
@@The.Odyssey Thanks brother! Slightly different setup for my choke. Looks like something is connected right or possibly broke. Need to delve in further.
Wow, been using starter fluid to start my mower for 4 years now, all I had to do was this and it worked no starter fluid
It's almost always something stupid! Thanks for watching.
How about I've replaced every part/sensor there is...and it doesn't even try to turn over? But turns over when I mate up the solenoid
Ok? Soo I really need more info on "every part", Because I'm sure we missed 1. But, let's pretend we didn't. Then it's probably your brake/clutch pedal is broken and not pressing that safety switch. :) give me more info to work with and I'll get you to your solution. Also, please let me know if you have a multimeter or test light. Which could help. Have you replaced the solenoid?
@@The.Odyssey safety switch seems to work because I can leave it in park after starting and it'll keep running. Solenoid is replaced and I used my voltmeter on the key switch in every position and it works 😭
@@The.Odyssey but just clueless on why it won't even try to turn over at all. No click or anything
@FireManSRTTV ok, I'm assuming Seat switch is verified or cheated. Have you checked fuses? Also could be a wire. New parts also sometimes come bad, I'd also check for voltage on the solenoid coil when you turn the key. There is also a safety on the blade lever. Easily testable by putting it in reverse with blades on and the key in the 1st run position, if it don't stall then that's your guy.
@@The.Odyssey I'll get back at you tomorrow when I double check. The seat switch is new too. 😨
I have a mower just like this but when I try to start it it doesn't turn over like yours did...all I hear is a noise coming from the engine bay that sounds like when a battery is dead its like a ticking noise...would that be starter or what somebody in my neighborhood checked the starter n said it was good I've replaced spark plugs and battery and it started for a few days but now is giving me the same problem...once started it runs smooth...when I crank it I can see the wheel on top try to move but it looks like it's stuck or something I can rotate it w my hand and then go to crank it and I usually starts after that
How old is the battery? Might be suffering from low cranking amps. Do you have jumper cables? If connect to your car with jumpers and the problem goes away it may be time to replace. You could also have an auto parts store load test the battery if you brought it to them
@@The.Odyssey I replaced the battery it had the date of 18 on there so I replaced battery first then had the same issue so I replaced the plug and it started and ran fine fkr about 2 days then when out on a job I hit my 2nd yard fkr the day and it just wouldn't start fkr me brought it home after doing 2 in more yards that day and it started ok but after I let it run n turn it off it gives me the problem again...
@@The.Odyssey battery was 5 years old so I just replaced it first
@@The.Odyssey my lights also don't work unless the mowers engine is running which I thought they would turn on as long as I had power so it made me think of something electrical was the problem....about a week ago I was mowing on a hillside and the mowers wheel came off the ground so I kind of jumped off and let the mower come down on its wheels so it didn't tip on me and ever since then I'm having problems w it
@Starfighter104 the positive wire should go to a starter solenoid, through that and to the starter. I don't think it's the solenoid as you say it's trying to turn but I would look at all the connections, probably look at the negative cable(s) too. Make sure all connections are clean (not rusted or corroded) and that they are tight. I would remove them, then clean with a wire brush or sandpaper then reinstall.
ya i have a brand new one... same thing--- It cranks but wont start. i shouldve bought a deere from the dealership.... husqvarna quality control is crap
Did this video help you or are you still having the issue?
@@The.Odyssey i imagine it would.. i watched the choke cable pull the spring but its not tight enough like yours. i just bought mine so its under full warranty; i just dropped it off at the shop for free "setup"/ repair. But ya great video
WHERE ARE THE SPARK PLUGS?
Sides of the motor. You should see the rubber boots going to them
I found them! Thanks for your video. I found out I have to have a rachet wrench and spark plug socket to remove it, ha ha, I guess I need to get up to date on my tools.@@The.Odyssey
@p-ae8027 yes, I can't remember what they were but they would be one of 3 sizes. 13/16, 3/4, 18mm.
Poor guy that sold it to you for $100.. 🥺
How do you know he was poor, he could be a very wealthy guy that was helping this guy out.
Im not a fuckin mechanic.. this is too hard
I not massage therapist. No happy ending fo u.
