**UPDATE: I got the Google Home and Amazon Alexa working! I'll post a video about how to. Seems it was a software glitch of some kind.
It's been a few years since I dug in on vacuum cleaning technology. But right now is a good time to be taking another look, since iRobot has just brought out it's newest robot vacuum; the iRobot Roomba i7+.
What is iRobot Roomba® i7+ with Clean Base?
Roomba is iRobot's lineup of smart vacuums. Some Roombas are simply programmable and can clean your floors (carpet and wood/tile floors) automatically, while some of the newer ones offer app control.
What's new with Roomba i7+? Automatic emptying
iRobot has made some significant advancements with its i7+. The big change is that the Roomba can now empty itself. The newest Robot in the Roomba fleet is available with a special dock that contains a dustbin, so that any time the Roomba is full, it'll head back to its base station and automatically empty itself. Mind=blown.
What's new with Roomba i7+? Improved mapping
While the previous generation iRobot Roomba did have mapping capabilities and the smarts to learn its way around your house, the new generation has made significant technological leaps on this front.
In my experience, the i7+ robot now learns quicker, creating a detailled map of your space. Once it gets to know where the walls and barriers and obstacles are, it adopts a much more linear and purposeful cleaning pattern, where pervious generations of Roomba were far more random.
Also on this model, the onboard dust container is now washable.
Getting iRobot Roomba i7+ set up
Getting your new robot vacuum set up is quite easy. You'll want to download the iRobot Home app and sigh in or sign up for an account.
Then unpack your robot.
What's in the box
Inside the large and heavy box is the Roomba vacuum, the dustbin tower/charging station base, and a cord. In the accessories box, you’ll find two bags for the dustbin, an extra filter, extra corner or Edge-Sweeping brush and a lighthouse, which lets you place virtual barriers.
With everything unpacked, find a place to plug in the base station. You'll want an easy access spot that's free of obstructions. Let the robot charge fully, then connect the Robot to your app. You'll put the robot into pairing mode by pressing and holding the Home and Spot clean buttons simultaneously for two seconds. You'll hear a tone and see a blue ring around the Clean button that confirms the robot is generating Wi-Fi.
Head to the app and tap the hamburger menu, then select Add a Robot and the app will look for your Roomba. It should pop right up in the app, and mine did. From there it's time to get cleaning!
Let’s get to know your Roomba quickly. It’s important to note you should keep the brushes and wheels and sensors clean and free of debris or hair to help them function correctly. The maintenence info is in your manual.
The edge sweeping brush it what gets into corners and along baseboards.
The front caster wheel lets the vacuum move freely. The wheel pops out for cleaning. The multisurface brushes are these two rubber rollers. They also pop out easily so you can remove anything that gets tangled.
Using the iRobot Roomba i7+
You have several ways to begin cleaning. Press the Clean button on the robot itself and the robot will head out. Or open the app and press the virtual clean button.
You can also set schedules inside the app so the robot will lean automatically, whenever you choose.
How to set iRobot Roomba schedules
Select the Schedule button on the bottom of the app's main screen, then choose the plus sign in the top right. You can set it to do a single clean, for example after you've left for work, or create a weekly routine. Just adjust the start time and the days of the week.
You can also select which rooms the robot will clean on which days, though you need to wait until your Smart Map is populated to start using this feature.
How does Smart mapping work?
To enable the smart mapping you will need to activate the feature. In the home app, go to the Smart maps button at the bottom of the screen and turn it on. It will start mapping the house each time it cleans. It takes about 3-4 cleaning runs for it to generate a full map.
Then you can label the rooms on the map so you can activate the vacuum to clean specific spaces, by asking your Google or Amazon assistant.
iRobot Home App
The iRobot Home app will show you a tonne of helpful info;
Cleaning preferences
cleaning history
Schedules
Smart map info
Find your Roomba
Overall the app is really easy to understand and navigate and everything works well. - Наука та технологія
Very well scripted and presented review. I especially appreciate how compact and efficient your presentation is without a lot of extraneous "uh's, ah's" and irrelevant personal sidebars present in other reviews. There's as much useful content in this review as in the other 25 minute reviews. I am using this fine review in my purchase decision-making process.
Thanks.
Thank you so much for the compliment!
Thanks for the video. After watching I went and bought one, with approval from my boss “wife” and it’s been a month. We like it. Haven’t had to change the bag yet, run it every other day with two dogs in the house. I just cleaned it, not a biggie either. Wife bought some bags on ‘amazon’ I think if the robot was $200 instead of $1100 you’d get more people on board. I’m sure my great grandma thought a vacuum cleaner was stupid when she used a broom in the early 20th century because of the cost to own one. If you don’t want one, don’t buy it, last I checked it’s not required to have one... The comments about being lazy ... no instead of spending time vacuuming we let the robot do that and we go for a walk with the dogs and the family and spend more time doing things we enjoy. And vacuuming floors since I was a kid didn’t seem to burn enough calories to exempt me from “lazy” status. Cheers.
Excellent feedback a Steven. Thanks for posting.

Amazing🌼 how it maps out the house after 5 runs and keeps getting smarter. The barrier things really work too...just not sure how long the AA batteries will last. I love it tho...and i named her Rosario after the housekeeper on Will and Grace! Haha
Never watched a single of your videos before, but I immediately knew you had some sort of News anchor background. You have the perfect voice for it, and speak with the typical exaggeration on specific words. I don’t know if there’s a specific name for that. 😅
This is the best review for the Roomba, thank you so much for doing a such a detailed review and thank you for telling the main points, it was really helpful for a newbie like me.
I’m so glad! Thanks for the compliment. Please share it if you have the chance.
Good review. We have had ours for a few months and it makes it nice to have the pet hair and dust cleaned up without having to get out a dust pan and down on my hands and knees to get under bed or most furniture.
True! Thanks for watching Stephen.
I was looking all weekend at videos for these. Glad you made one too! Thanks
Yay! Thanks for watching Jim! Hope you’re well.
I bought the iRobot Roomba i7 (7550) a month ago for wife’s August Birthday. [2022] The price finally came down so I could afford it, barely,😂. I really appreciate the Video/ Review you did, really helped me out. Had one before, its going upstairs, and this one going to be on main level. I’m so happy don’t have to empty the thing, every time I turn around. I have a Great understanding now ,thanks to you. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate that, thanks so much Andre!
Just perfect!! Thanks for the video!!! Can You make one cleaning the dust bag?
Wow. The first video with actually demonstrating how loud the vaccum tower is. And it's from Nov '18.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
😀😀😀😎😎😎
Legit a perfect review on a product that I am very interested in. I am now a full time subscriber!! Thank you for this and fantastic job!
Awesome! Thank you! :)
I have i7 plus now for 2 months and it changed my life b/c I no longer suffer from the constant guilty feeling an pressure from that I am being lazy and I should vacuum but I hate it This robot is doing so good job and my floor is now dustless every corner.
I look my Robot as my cuttest pat who pleases me the most than anything. My white carpet is so clean and look so white than ever. I thank to this Robot. Auto- Emptying trash feature is so critical to me b/c I always hated to deal with dust emptying and now it is so easy. this company c/s is excellent which is what will motivate to buy this i7 plus.
Great feedback; thanks for posting!
Thank you for this amazing vid! You put a lot of work into it and deserve way more subs. Keep making amazing videos. 😀😃
Thank you so much for the compliment!
I love my roomba i7+ with the base. I like that I do not have to clean it every single time.
Great overview and review, both content and delivery. I expect even your non-vacuum videos are devoid of fluff 😆. Subscribed!
Thanks for the compliment and welcome!
@@ErinLawrenceTV could you make video like this for Roborock S5 max / S6 max V please, super informative
Great video and well presented. Precise and relevant information. Thank you.
😯 I want a robot vacuum! I just moved to a new apt with carpet floors and this would be awesome to have.
You can always look into the Eufy models they are quite cheap now a days. Deebots are also around the same price and you can control them with your phone.
Great video Erin! Thank you!
Well we're going for a 960 but i did want to see what the high-end model was like. Thanks!
Great video! I just found your channel. :) I will continue to use my Eufy 11s. Even if the Roomba can empty itself buyers will still have clean the Roomba itself. I work on my cars so turning my eufy over and giving it a deep clean something I like to do. Thanks for your review!
Thank you Ivan! I should really try to review a Eufy on day soon.
Yeah, you can go for the others, but nothing like the navigation on the Roomba I7+. Plus, the self-vacuuming bin is great. Run if anyone recommends a Neato D7. Tried 2 of these two months apart. Both had identical getting stuck everywhere issues. It really wasn't an automatic robot. Cleaned OK, but you have to baby-sit during the whole cleaning run. I have two I7+ units now an==d don't regret spending the extra money. If you cannot afford the Roomba I7, buy the Roborok S5 or S50 or S55. Cleans as well as the Roomba. Navigates pretty well. You just have to empty bin when full.
Great feedback George, thanks!
Bought the i7+ for $799 CDN in the Black Friday sale and it vacuums very well! Thank you for the review!
Great review
Very well done review. Very thorough and informative. Well done young lady.
Excellent, informative video. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words, Karen!
I think it is for people who don't vacuum. Count me in.
Got the 980 a day ago. We have a fake wood floor in the whole house and we have cables for the TV and PVR etc. The 980 tangles in that without fail. We are also selling the house thus the need to constantly keep it clean no matter what. In order to keep the seats of the lounge free, we put sheets on it and the 980 tangles in the sheet maybe 50% of the time. All in all, though, great investment so far as I am concerned. As for the app with the 980, hooked into the 980 fine and Google Assistant can easily control it. I can make it clean at a moment's notice or return to the dock without a problem.
Very interesting!
How do you know when to empty the bag? Do you get a notice on the app?
Excellent review!
Thank you kindly!
Found the i7+ for $350 brand new on OfferUp!!! I love this thing! But, I wouldn't have paid the regular $800 price for it.
I got 960 on black friday for 600. It will cost another 650 to upgrade to i7+. I am split... do love the convenience of never handling the dust. On the other hand, these are machines and they all break down after few years. BTW I also got Braava 380T, wet mopping of floors really completes cleaning cycle. It is very quite and does edges thoroughly. May be you should review it also. Use machines to do chores so that we can spend time in more productive way, like watching you tube :).
Thanks for watching! I have reviewed the BravaJet. It's great! My 980 has been going strong for years.
iRobot has actually made Roombas very self-serviceable (rare with almost any product now a days). You can easily repair just about everything (motors, batteries) that might possibly wear out on your Roomba. My old 595 is still in great shape 8 years later.
Really liked your review on the Roomba i7+.... I am especially interested in whether you were able to get Alexa to work with the vacuum...As this is one of the main reasons for me purchasing this unit....I would like you comments before I make the purchase. Thanks for your time...and look forward to your future reviews, as I am now SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you! I will have to do a follow up...
poluje na niego i szukam testów- mam 980 i jestem zachwycona tym nowym
Great review Erin. Greetings out of Vienna Austria
Is it supposed to run out of battery while not in use? I fully charged my Irobot, then turned off the base. Next day, it was out of battery. Does this happen to you?
That review was so good I subscribed.
:D
Has anyone had issues with it? This happened twice it would state it needs to charge and then not work. I thought whenever it docked it charged.
Erin, I was Irobit or Dyson, I'd make you my product spokesman! Great reviews!
Thank you!
I stumbled upon & loved your presentation. Very detail for techno phobic like me. But and it is big but, I am environmental nerd hence use 980 because no bags to replace avoiding waste mountain.. If the bags are washable and reusable, I will easily change my alliance. But great video though-Thanks👌
Thank you so very much for the compliment! I’m glad you found the video helpful. Recyclable or washable bags would be a great idea! Hopefully irobot is listening.
Great video! thanks. Can one robot be connected to multiple phones via phone app (family members) so anyone can use it? In that case how many IDs are given per roomba?
Yes it can be shared. I don’t think there’s a limit.
Hi there, can you tell me, how tall is the docking station?
Hi Erin thanks for the video my roomba i7 after 6months does not empty it self can you please tell me how to fix this?
That’s unfortunate. Have you tried doing a manual empty by pressing the home and spot clean buttons? Or initiating that from inside the app? Or Maybe the bag is just full and can’t accept any more?
Mine clogs a LOT. Also complete lack of Apple HomeKit integration is mystifying in late 2018.
Edit: Would also love to see the ability to add polygonal shapes to the maps to prevent the Roomba from going into specific areas of a room. For example under the couch where we have wiring, around the Christmas tree, and around a particular side table in just our living room alone. This could easily be solved with an app update rather than buying expensive additional devices which do not seem to work very well to prevent access to certain areas as the device comes shipped with.
Really? Which part is clogging? Very interesting...
Erin Lawrence We have a lot of large acrylic area rugs. It seems like the fluff from that and other stuff gets caught right in the opening in the i7 that leads to the dust bin. This is the non + version without the self-cleaning, but the robots are identical as far as I know. The issue is happening in the outlet of the robot that leads to the dust bin. I believe the removable dust bins are different between i7 and i7+ to facilitate storage or self-cleaning capability.
Are there any indications to let you know when bag is full on IRoomb i7+ Vacuums? Thank you.
Thank you for such a great video. I just purchased the Roomba i7 plus. The operating manual that came with the vacuum isn’t really helpful. Since I have a three level home meaning stairs I wondered if it matters where I dock the Roomba? Also, I did not receive the “Dual Mode Virtual Wall Barrier”??? I called customer service and the person I spoke to did not make any sense at all. I don’t think he knew enough about the product he was supposedly representing???? I’m in the USA. Any suggestions on what to do?
I did not receive The Dual Mode Virtual Wall Barrier either. - following
Can you send me a link from this vacuum cleaner
After the robot creates this virtual map & you name the rooms - can you like tell/command to the robot to clean for example only the "living room" or "only the hallway" ?
Yes you can. In the app you"ll find a list with the named rooms. Here you can make a choise
it was your account that it didn’t link but it is fixed it was the problem by irobot but now its fixed
All u have to do is wait for the software update comes and u can use amazon Alexa and Google Assistance
Sending the vacuum cleaner "home" is easy if you press the button on the device, but how do you do that using the app? I have searched unsuccessfully in the Owner's Guide and online.
Good video Erin. But the way I feel about it, iRobot, Google and Amazon should have worked out all the bugs BEFORE putting it on sale. I do not need the frustration of “401 error” messages. If software related glitches were truly rare, it would be no big deal. But they are in fact so RAMPANT , especially with registration and required use of passwords, that I have just no patience with them. Another example is the dictation software on Apple’s iPhones. I have to CONSTANTLY make manual corrections. Thank you for reading my rant. This is coming from 30 years of using computers at home.
Good rant! And the bugs on this one seem mostly worked out by now.
I just got my i7+ yesterday and pretty pleased thus far. We have 3 dogs & 2 cats so everyday I sweep up a pile of pet hair. My question is on the bags in the base bin, do you empty these or toss them? I would love if the trash just went into the bin vs a bag...
The bags are pulled out and tossed into the garbage.
@@ErinLawrenceTV are there cheaper generic bags on sale now to fit i7+
@4:47 “the battery lasts about 25 mins” @4:56 “All told you get about 75 mins of clean time” because I own one, I can say it lasts about 75 mins before needing to recharge. What exactly do your 25 minute sessions refer too?
It lasts significantly longer than 25 min in our use.
For the most part I like mine BUT... the problem I have is when it disconnects from wifi (randomly)it simply won't get back online and won't charge the battery then it won't work at all. I have to reconnect it to the wifi by setting it up all over again. This is very annoying I wish it would work when it's not connected to the wifi but it won't.
I bought a roomba with no virtual towers. I have been given 2towers from my daughter. I put 2 new batteries in which lit up at the battery shop. At home they are not switching on. Both switches are in the down position. Can you please advise me.
Given that it can’t be hidden i wonder if a decent DIY piece of furniture, like a small table, could be put together to incorporate it?
I bet some intrepid entrepreneur will invent one! Thanks for watching.
So do you need to buy any additional items for this? Like the bags inside of the base? If so, where can you buy them and how often do you need to buy them? Were you ever able to get it connected to Google home or Alexa?
Hi Mercedes, Yes, After a software update it connected ok. You will need bags, but I haven't needed to empty it yet so I don;t know where to get them/cost
It's a bit noisy for my taste, but beautiful device for sure 👍 great review
Thanks for watching!
My I7+ runs for about 70+ minutes before it needs to charge. This is in a house that's 90% carpet.
Thanks for this. I thought that was a little weird and extreme since my 980 runs for an hour or more before it needs to charge.
iRobot Roomba i7+ (7550) Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal-Empties Itself, Wi-Fi Connected, Smart Mapping, Works with Alexa, Ideal for Pet Hair, Carpets, Hard Floors, Black: ua-cam.com/video/88mJs9FMgiM/v-deo.html
Thanks for the information. Can you please tell me if this version vacuums in straight lines? The 600 series was so random and took almost an hour to complete my lounge. Is this one better?
It’s straighter than previous iterations but still not 100% linear.
great video. One question how do we know bag is full.
The app will send you a notification that the bag is full
I clicked on this and then quickly paused because it said 17+ and my kids were watching with me. 😂
LOL
How do you empty the back catch tank? I've had ours for about 3 weeks. Does it notify you when to empty the catch tank and does it detach to do it?
There's good information in the brief Owner's Gide, too! When the catch tank is full a conspicuous red LED flashes on the front of the tank, directly above the iRoomba.
Good review, thanks. What’s the wall plug look like? My previous roomba had a giant adaptor? Does this have that as well?
Standard AC plug. Regular size.
Got it. We purchased the i7 and are very happy so far. We are glad the plug doesn’t have a giant converter. It reminds me of an Apple product. Very slick packaging and design.
Is there a problem with tripping over (or stepping on) these robotic vacuums? Just today, I had to throw out an area rug because I kept on tripping over it. It’s maddening!
The only reason I am seriously considering a robotic vacuum is because I’m lazy to vacuum with the regular upright on a regular basis. But if they do not deep clean like the uprights, and if they are such a hassle to learn how to use, and continue getting “401 error” messages, etc., I’d rather stick with the traditional upright.
No tripping for me. And once you get them set up, they're easy. I have no problems with this one now.
i had a i7 it clean good but could not get it program instructions were terrible i took it back
Traded mine back in for i3+ I just want it to clean the entire house once a day. It’s great. They do need to work on the app.
Totally agree, thanks!
How long does it take to map a 3000 square feet home
Thank you for the great review Erin. I noticed you didn't mention anything about privacy, the company owner on one stock show mentioned that in the future they might sell your user data (home floor plan?) to third party marketers. Did the app or the instructions say anything about protecting user data?
Great question Mike. I don't know... I don't know what companies could really do with a floor plan, but I'd be curious to find out.
It’s about advertising. Small floor plan means poor. No money. Large floor plan means more money to sell things to.
User data should be protected.
Almost all floor plans are already public. Fact is many are in Tax records (public) others are in Mortgages (public) and I have found out that many other apps already have floor plans available for all to see online. (Zillow etc.) I could go on (like they can trace things like "water & electricity flow") but no need to spread fear. Our lives in 2019 are almost not private at all. Enjoy life in 2019 folks, life is short.
Can this be used in carpet floor?
This review has a lot of good info in it but there was one thing that was left out that I wanted to know. How times can the vac empty itself back at the base station before the bag at the base station has to be emptied or replaced?
Probably you already know the answer, but according to the official website it holds 30 robot bins.
i have condo- small hard wood fL and i haven't emptied it in 2 months.
Why doesn’t it empty after it returns to base? Could it possibly be because it doesn’t have enough dirt yet?
What I would like to know is where do I buy more dust bags for my Rhumba i7 ?
You didn’t think to check eBay or Amazon or iRobot themselves before posting?
Love this irobot roomba i7+!!!
Are you mad,,???? £700,,,!!!!!
Me too!
here in America, the i7+ with the charging/emptying station costs $900. 100 dollars cheaper than the Canadian price but still VERY expensive. my family doesn't own one by the way, i just searched up the price on Google.
really helpful, any tips on multiple floors please
Do you mean how well does it work on different floors? Excellent
@@ErinLawrenceTV Sorry I mean how do you get it to do that I started the training run and then unplugged the base station and took it upstairs to do the next floor, there doesnt seem to be any instructions anywhere as to what to do also I have some small step ups to different rooms how do you get it to map these? btw your review is excellent in everyway I think there is limited setup instructions in the box with the device and none on the roomba website that help with these issues
When I ordered my Roomba i7+ it did NOT come with the light house barrier. Should it have? I got everything else you mentioned except that.
Hi Sharon, Now the app is able to prevent the bot going into places it shouldnt, so there's no need for the lighthouses any more so it seems like they are no longer shipping them.
Is there a sequence that needs to be followed to get the unit to stop what it's doing and go "Home" before it thinks it needs to go home???
No, you can push the 'home' button on the machine or on the app and it will head home
How is it holding up? Also, how much does it cost you to maintain per year? (replacement parts, filters, etc.)
It’s holding up great! Cleans regularly and well. I just replaced one of the roller bars and a two pack of those cost about $50.
Any help on this : I ordered my i7 for map cleaning and it did for 2 hrs. History shows New mapping completed but I don't see any new Mapping available. History shows all details but no Mapping.
Sometimes it can take a few more passes. So it looks like the map is complete it needs a bit more information. My advice would be to send it out a few more times on a map and run and then check back.
you have to enable the skill on Alexia first then connect to the app 3rd party. :)
Probably a really silly question but if you have 2 floors in your house, I get that the roomba will detect the stairs and stop but does that mean you have to put it on 2 cycles? One for upstairs and one for downstairs? And if you keep the base downstairs where will the roomba go when it has finished cleaning upstairs? Hope this all makes sense and thanks in advance for your help
Good question. Yes, you would have to physically move the vacuum from floor to floor and restart it.
And would you have to move the base too? If you don’t need to move it, where does the roomba go after it has finished? Does it get confused if the base is on a different floor? Thanks for the reply 🙂
@@datesandbananasgirl9123 I don't have an i7, but I do bring a 960 to two different floors. If you start it when not on a base, it goes back to roughly where it was when you had it start the job. It always seems to stop 6" away or so from where I started it, but close enough.
Hi, Can I use roomba as my primary vacuum or do I need to use a more powerful vacuum once a while in addition to roomba? Thanks for this video!
Valeria Childers depends what’s on your floors and how dirty your house gets, eg pets or kids.
We have an older generation roomba and have 2 labs, 3 cats and 3 teenagers. We schedule the roomba to clean once a day and it does a great job although the bin needs to be emptied often because of the pet hair.
Even though the roomba does an excellent job we still use our dyson on Saturdays.
You need a more powerful vacuum to clean anything that isn't loosely sitting on top of the carpet. No robot vacuum really brushes carpet and suction is terrible on all of them.
Hi Valeria,
Thanks for watching.
It's like I said in the review: you'd still want a proper upright vacuum for deep cleaning.
You cannot use such hard shell nuts with roomba. You'll end up tearing the extractors.
Nice heads up. What about other brand/models with only 1 extractor bar
Order placed and got a great discount too!
OOh! Where?
Erin Lawrence I started a chat online with Roomba and asked for a discount. Simple as that
I just purchased 890 can I buy just the Base would it be compatible with the 890 ??
I don't believe the 890 is compatible.
At costco it is for $699 and now it is rebate for $120 not that expensive. I have 2 story house so bought 2
I have 2 dogs in 2 cats. I use every other day.
I love my i7 Roomba but...
I have a wife and female children whom seem to lose a lot of their hair -_-. So nearly every other clean, I'll have to take it apart and clean the hair that wraps around the brushes and the front little wheel. Also on the hard wood floor, the rubber rollers seem to get stuck alot making loud rattling sounds. I wish there were height settings. If I could raise it just half an inch or less, the rollers would have an easier time.
As a female wife I can attest to the hair thing. Interesting note about the rollers getting stuck and rattling; it almost sounds like the frame that locks them into place isn’t quite latched? Great point about the height settings also.
What’s a Canada?
My roomba doesnt auto empty dirt when it is full. How do i fix this ?
Have you tried a reset?
My roomba just keeps circling around the same areas and will not clean the whole house. I did move the charging station after it had mapped. Did this impact the way it moves? I thought it would just remap and would be fine. Cannot figure this out. Anyone have any advice?
Yes. I think you need to reset or re map now. It could also be using the dirt detect to clean a particularly dirty area?
The i7+ needs a good WiFi signal during the cleaning. It receives the map from Roomba-servers over WiFi
I’ve seen several of these videos and not one person mentions how the rubber rollers handle dog hair. My older brush style, dog hair gets tangled up in it every time and I have to pull the brush out and untangle the dog hair. Are these rubber rollers or bumpers any better in this situation?
Hey Steve, What do you mean? I talked about how it picks up pet hair quite well. Where are you getting the tangles, on the rollers themselves, or in the ends of the rollers? Also, what kind of dog do you have and how long is the hair?
Hi Aaron I have the older style with the actual brush and the rubber bumper on the other side of it. The brushes every time gets tangled with dog hair. I have a boxer shorthaired dog. I was just wondering if these new style without the actual brush and just use two rubber bumpers, I wonder if they get tangled with dog hair or or does the hair actually all go up into the container?
guess you didn't read much since the first comment I talk about pet hair. the 980 much better
Ahh, yes. Now I understand. The rollers are now all rubber; there's no bristles to get anything tangled in. All the pet hair goes into the container.
I think I will wait until the price comes down about $900. It's not worth the extra $900 to do smart mapping. I have an iRobot that I bought for $249.9. I remember when it used to cost almost $1,000. I would wait for the cost to come down. It is so overpriced for what it does and plus you have all the privacy issues. People have to stop buying into this kind of shit. Pick up your regular vacuum it does a better job and you don't have to sign your privacy away and it always works when you turn it on. If you ever take one of these things apart and if you know anything about Electronics, you will see how cheaply they are built for what you're paying. This thing should cost about two hundred bucks. I love at 4:33 how she says hit the button on your phone for a quick sweep. There's no such thing as a quick sweep. This thing takes well over an hour to do anything and it does it very mediocre compared to your regular vacuum. It's cool if you're into that sort of thing however it is way overpriced especially when you're signing away your privacy.
You actually can have a quick sweep. I was on my way home from work and I told it to do my dining room and entry way which make up a good bit of my 3000 square ft. house. Finished in 20 mins. Imagine doing one of these rooms? 10 minutes isn't bad for not having to do it yourself. Especially with remote connectivity
Why does my roomba i7+ clean and base station white lights keep going on and off when parked and fully charged? The'll come on and off every few minutes constantly.
That's weird. The blue lights? Maybe it's having trouble connecting to WiFi?

Does it always go to the charging station or it just hangs around ?
When it's done it goes to the charging base.
I love my Roomba but my app on my phone quit, maybe I need to cancel that one and do a new one
Might just need an app update?
Did you say 25mins of run time before it goes back to recharge??? It’s actually aprox 75, recharge, then back out. For a max of twice, resulting in 225 mins clean time.
Yes, it is 75 minutes of run time between charges.
Does he clean dark or black carpets? Or does he recognize that as a stair step like the IRobot 780?
Yes! No problems with dark carpets and he avoids steps easily.
I think of a self empty as a vacuum for what your vacuum vacuumed
Hahaha, yes!
