My grandmother lived in STL and attended the 1904 Fair. My Dad said they brought over African natives for a display but didn’t feed them properly so they snuck out at night and stole people’s dogs to eat at a nearby neighborhood. It is called Dogtown today. I owned a 1904 World’s Fair neighborhood house but moved out because of the crime. Beautiful 3 stories complete with ghosts. There’s nothing left of the World’s Fair today except the Art Museum and Grand Basin and a metal outdoor birdcage and one small outdoor pavilion.

I also lived in a house that was built in the Shaw Neighborhood. Henry Shaw (called Shaw’s Garden) owned and cultivated plants in what is now called Missouri Botanical Garden. My husband and I owned a home on a street named Botanical. From our bedroom window you could see Tower Grove Park a block away. Tower Grove still has remnants of the 1904 World’s Fair construction. There is a gazebo and small structures around a pond that still exist today. Most of it has eroded away, but it’s still beautiful. My husband and I had our wedding pictures taken by the pond with the structures in the back ground. We lived there in the 80’s and 90’s.

I think Dogtown’s name is actually about an area that had clay that was mined. The structures that were built for the miners were like doghouses thus nicknamed Dog town. It was named that before the 1904 World’s Fair.
As My Lunch Break mentions, they always mention the architects but never the construction companies that can pull off this work
The people in my hometown of San Diego California fought to keep some of the buildings from the world fair that was there they still exist there’s no papier-mâché involved it’s in what is now called Balboa Park God bless

That main entrance to the art pavilion sure isn’t a temporary building, it’s still there. Was just there earlier this year for an art exhibition. And I’m guessing this civilization sure didn’t build it.

Saw this on Amazon prime (world fair 1904). Its massive. The machinery, labor, energy, logistics it took to make that ferris wheel & other buildings is a feat beyond thier horse & wagon time. Something is off about it.

Wondering about lead which is and was so popular in expensive china etc. the Syracuse factory is a toxic dump site bc of it. How can you determine if it’s coloring your glass?
Also cobalt is a color and that’s how they sell it not bc of the actual cobalt

What's wrong with the wood ones? Olive wood, sandalwood, walnut, cherry...it depends on the quality and they're important if you're taking honey, shilajit or liquid enzymes
