Not sure where this data is coming from and definitely skeptical of the accuracy of the claim. I've replaced 2 Made In pans under warranty within a year and am in talks now with customer service on how to recycle the failed replacements. Have always followed the tips in this video (except the vinegar/baking soda trick was new to me). These are the only pans in this price range that I have ever had to had warranty replaced. Still have my ceramic pans that are 4x as old as the Made In pans and still functioning top notch. Begs the question if the video was made because of a known high failure rate?
Yeah, these pans don't last and MadeIn doesn't stand behind them. I did a lot of research before I chose to buy a MadeIn pan and thought I'd made a good choice that would last me a number of years as I'd spent money for a good quality pan. I have had my MadeIn non-stick pan for just over 1 1/2 year now and followed the advice from this video exactly. The teflon is now starting to flake off in the middle but there is not a scratch on it otherwise. I contacted the company and they said that the pans are only expected to last about 2 years. For the price I paid I expected a lot more. I can buy a pan from Walmart, treat it well and make it last 2 years. Very disappointed.
Overview
1. utensils: use wood, silicon & nylon
2. do not heat without food or fat
3. oven is safe iff fully cool and go to 5.
7. storage: cover the non-stick surface with towel
Tips
1. do not store food in the pan, clean and dry
2. do not leave acidic food for long
3. cool before cleaning
yeah, but heating to clean severe dirt with adding water - doesnt dishwasher do the same stuff? adding heated water
The rag in between the pans in the cabinet is genius! underrated move
What does that do?
They made protectors for the reason actually
i have ruined my fair share of non sticks and this is such a great resource to help prevent it from happening in the future! thanks steve!
Just bought a non-stick sautee pan, so this is very helpful!
Great tip on using a napkin in between the pans. I’ve also used double stacked paper towels.
These are super helpful videos, thank you Steve!
Always a great day when Steve’s on the UA-cam. Thanks for another informative video, Steve.
Sorry, he's not going to f*** you, no matter how much you want.
Woot woot! Steve is back! This is the guide we needed.
Thank you so much for the tips.
Thank you for the tips Steve 🙏🏼 i’ll stay away from cooking sprays on my non stick pans from now on
Thank you so much for the information!!!
Another great installment Steve!!!!
Good storage tip. Thanks!
Steve days are the best days.
Great! Thanks! FYI Martha Steward recommends cleaing with salt and oil and paper towels. It can keep the sticky pans stick less next time.
Thanks for the tip on vinegar and baking soda!
You are absolutely brilliant! I'm just a man trying to cook and be better about my pan care. This video is helping me get there. Thanks, you wonderous master man.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the great video Steve! I just received my two new Made In non-stick skillets and want to make sure I treat them right.
It is our pleasure. Glad it was helpful, Mike.
Really helpful, Steve!!
Great tips Steve!
Thank you, Steve. Keep the videos coming. I just ordered a new set of cookware for my induction stove. I've never used induction so I'm a tad nervous. Any video you want to do for induction cooking I'll love it!
we are induction at our house. SS is the key. We are interested in MadeIn Non stick but cant seem to get a clear answe r on how thier NS will work, we have tried 3 or 4 brands and not happy at all
Easiest video to understand and follow, thank you! :)
Glad it helped!
So helpful!
Thank you!
Great vid, I did not know about spray being bad, and to ensure oil is in the pan before heating. Amazing production value btw
Same here, that's what brought me here.To see how to clean the spray off without damaging my cooking surface. I use coconut oil on it now and there is NO comparison.
It works SO much better than the spray.
Great tips!
Thank you, this was very helpful!
You're welcome!
Thanks, been waiting for this! Is there any hope once the non-stick surface begins to wear? Or is the only option to buy a new pan?
Thanks!
rlly helped me! 😁😁
Thank you so much--very great. How about the back side?
Really enjoyed this video and am considering purchasing a non stick madein pan. Can you explain why spray oil causes build up? Is it the aerosol suspension and not oil itself? Or all oil should be avoided?
Thanks Steve. I feel you didn't adequately highlight the best cooking temperature. I'm aware medium should be the max, but my wife just turns our gas burns to high every time and it's cost us around 4 non stick pans going to God. Thanks mate !!
Thank you, this was really helpful and pleasant to watch!
Finally a good method, thanks !!
You're welcome!
Thanks, Steve! Now I know why my old nonstick looks like a hot mess!
Good job !!!
Thanks!!
Hes adorable!
Cooking spray sticks to surfaces worse than anything! Thanks for your tips!
That vinegar/baking soda tip is clutch.
Hey Steve, if you're ever looking for an idea for your next video - I'm wondering when and why you'd use e.g. non-stick vs stainless steel, or copper vs carbon steel
Great idea!
Thank you! Turns out I've been doing everything wrong with my non-stick pans. No wonder I have to change them out about once a year.
Glad we could help!
On your cooking with stainless, you say wait until pan is hot, put in oil and when it is warm will spread across pan. In the nonstick you need to put in oil first and I waited it stays in edges of pan. Should it spread across when warm?

great
is made in making any non stick friendly utensils??
Good comment. I once heard that after using (and cleaning) the pan, a tiny droplet of neutral cooking oil should be applied to the coating. Any views on that?
Hey there, great question. This is not necessary for storing non stick cookware. In regards to carbon steel, we always recommend applying cooking oil in between use to preserve the pan.
I am planning to buy air fryer. Most of them are teflon coated. Can I USE Parchment paper for cooking so that food does not come into contact with the non stick?
It's an often and unsaid kitchen rule but you must always click your tongs. This is the way.
It seems like made in would take the opportunity to sell inserts for storage if they recommend using that method. Circles of cork would be good. I know you can get it elsewhere but if it was sized for their pans it would be neat.
Working on it. Thanks for the suggestion
@@MadeInCookware well, great minds right? lol

Can you use a scotch brite dobie to clean the non stick pan?
NO
So, if I'm cooking an egg, for example, without any oil or butter, I should put the egg in before heating the pan? Also, how does baking soda not scratch it?
Does Steve do house calls?
Well… lots of adjustments to be made in our kitchen after this training session 😅
I've been doing everything wrong with my non stick.
I didn't know about maintenance. I am an introvert and am ashamed to ask anyone.
But ur video was very helpful.
Do u have any suggestions for maintaing my granite kitchen surface. It gets so sticky next to the stove, with the oil, steam , splatter of spices etc.
Would be helpful. I'd like to clean it everyday and keep my kitchen clean.
Glad that our tips were helpful. We're not pros on granite, but we would recommend a granite specific cleaner!
i have whilton non stick baking sheet and it is in pretty bad condition i just started try different catsup,v&b, i can't find any people that are elaborating on non stick.
Just used my 3.5qt saute pan for the first time. The non-stick cleaned very easy, but the bottom left a brown spot that feels like it should clean easy, but it's not coming off. Any suggestions?
Hey Art! Email us a photo to hello@madeincookware.com, we'll take a closer look!
Thank you for warning about the metal utensils. I know too many people that don’t understand this. I die a little more each time I see someone scraping a non-stick pan with a metal spatula 😭 If this is you, STOP! :)
what is the soap that can be used for washing non-stick pan?
Dawn or any other dish detergent like it works beautifully.
Gotta makes sure those tongs work. Everytime
Absolutely!
Steve.....what do you do if it calls for a "pre heat" pan before cooking?
Hey Mike. Check out Steve’s video on your UA-cam channel called “How to properly cook with Stainless Steel”…he goes through preheating your pan. With non stick be careful around preheating though as you can overheat a nonstick pan when preheating.
@@MadeInCookware Thanks for the tip :)............What I have done is get a inferred thermometer and test different settings with the flame ........I now have a "goto" mark on my stove that will get my pan to 375-400 in about 3-4 minutes and stay consistent......
how do you clean the stained bottom of the pan
did you get an answer?
What’s the main difference between cooking with carbon steel, stainless steel and standard nonstick pans?
Good question! The difference between carbon steel and stainless steel can be found here: madeincookware.com/blogs/carbon-steel-vs-stainless-steel-cookware
Additionally, our non stick pans are our stainless steel pans with a safe non stick coating applied!
So, NO pre-heat on the Non Stick Pan? Cold food into cold Pan? Just to clarify :)
Just don’t preheat an empty pan. Preheat with the oil in it because it will be a good barometer for temperature. If you choose to use oil that is. If you don’t…you can preheat just be careful to let it get too hot. Can’t get hotter than 500!
Are plastic utensils ok? Are they similar to nylon?
For sure
I hear regular comments not to put cold water into a hot pan, but how do you deal with adding stock to food being sautéed in the pan without causing harm?
Stock generally isn’t a thermal shock like a faucet colder water temp is
What about underside?
Hi, I bought a new aluminium non stick pan and scrubbed it VERY HARD with the green side of the scrub. Now everything is sticking to it. What do it do?
Throw it away. Aluminum is horrible to cook with.
@@jaimetrevino9244 you mean food sticks to it, or is it bad for health?
The food sticks to it. Is aluminium getting into my food?
Alles geprobeerd maar ik krijg mijn pan niet schoon…. 😢
How do you clean a mess that is stuck outside the rim of the pan, thats my problem

I may have been pan-shocking I’m an amateur at cooking 😅
That's not a sweater vest, Steve.
putting your non stick in the dishwasher is sacrilegious!
i once saw a roommate use a KNIFE in my nonstick pan...i no longer live with him
How to clean a nonstick pan with burnt oil?
soap, steel wool and lots of elbow grease. You don't need to put force on it, just persistence.
Come on now. Whenever someone cooks meat in a non stick pan it gets worse and worse
Not necessarily, not if the pan is well maintained.
Wow. You dissolved sugar. Congratulations.
Non stick pans are bad and can leech dangerous chemicals if scratched. Spend a bit more on stainless steel or cast iron pots and pans.
I think they got past that after all the Teflon crisis... I could be wrong.
