That deck seems sweet! I played a Gruul deck back in Innistrad/Return to Ravnica standard that had Flinthoof Boar, Hellrider and Ghor-Clan Rampager. Good times getting aggro. I'm looking forward to playing with Voltaic Brawler, dude seems totally sweet.
TBH these are some of my favorite videos on TTC, I love being introduced to these cool new strategies! It would be awesome if you could also make one of these for commander (bc I'm an uncultured American woot woot), but I really love these highlander deck techs!
Some cards to think about: Rogue Elephant (a 3/3 for G that fuels Delve and Goyf), Temur Battle Rage since it typically will hit Ferocious, Crucible of Worlds for the Strip/Wasteland/Fetch shenanigans, and maybe City of Solitude in the Side? Or tech'd in against a heavier Control/Counter Meta? I would have mentioned Berserk too, but it was talked about towards the end of the video.
The thing about Biomass Mutation is that is alters base P/T. If you were playing it in the Simic deck, then all your evolved creatures kept their counters on top of their new P/T, and were rad.
How about Avalanche Riders as part of the mana denial plan that can also just 2 your opponent as well? How do you feel this aggro deck compares to the golgari aggro one you posted some time ago?
Threaten to kill their family.......nah I'm just kidding...but seriously. In reality you should set rules to allow for proxies for the most expensive cards and convince them that they're stupid if they don't play the greatest format.
Here's the thing: Not everyone can play Highlander as a format. You have to consider the rules, the limitations, and the "style" of presentation you are gong after. Commander is a Format that uses a Legendary in a Colorless, Mono-Colored, Duel, or Tri-Colored, but FEW are 5-colored Commanders, and thus, you could only use cards in such (or lack thereof) colors. Certain cards are banned, and as a result, people can make their own Commander decks without problem. HIGHLANDER on the other hand has a Points System where some of Vintage's most powerful cards are a thing. Proxies may be a thing indeed, but in reality, you are trying someone's patience with the idea of many folks doing proxies, or budgets overall. So, to consider these things, do try to see if there are any variant Highlander styles that DON'T use Reserve List cards, or have your group AGREE if Proxies will be allowed - assuming you understand the Points System. That should help in some regard, hopefully it does.
I would really love to see this deck in action - any chance you guys could play like a highlander showmatch on camera? Maybe do a deck-tech of two decks separately and then pit them head to head on camera?
Do you not have Dryad Arbor? Green sun for 0 for Dryad Arbor is the best target usually. Also, I think you should definitely run atarka's command! This is THE deck for it. Correct me if I missed either of these cards being mentioned
How is Atarka's Command not in there? Wild Nacatl should make the list too tbh. If Kird Ape is consistently a 2/3 Nacatl is a 2/2. Falkenrath Gorger is pretty much a vanilla 2/1 and then you could include a couple of plains in your duals and enable white fetches for the deck. Yes, Berserk seems good in this deck, as does TBR as it is the new Berserk. On the topic of pump spells the new +2/+2 and Hexproof for {G} could be good enough too.
I kinda wish more people around here plays Can-lander, but I have a fair amount of fun playing Commander, so it's almost the same. Almost. God, I miss playing aggro.
Is it? Maybe I'm bitter because my area used to have its own Highlander community (admittedly our format wasn't as cool as the Canadian version, but this was many years ago and the rules would have evolved if if people kept up with it) that died out while Commander became popular. But I'd think Commander would be a poor substitute for Can-lander.
Why do you think I miss playing aggro? French Commander is the closest thing to actual Highlander because it's 1v1. Multiplayer aggro doesn't work. On the flip side, Commander does let you play all sorts of stupid, awesome cards that would be too slow/ineffective in Can-lander.
Biggest pig is Decimator of Provinces or Woolly Razorback both are 7/7's, Decimator is the hoof like one, razorback is a weird white card from coldsnap.
So I think the idea with Biomass Mutation was that if you played it in Simic, a lot of your power & toughness was coming from +1/+1 counters applied to small bodies. So boosting the base body was still a substantial upgrade, when the bodies in question were 0/1 and 1/1s. It still wasn't much good, but I wanted to talk about it because I kinda liked this card and I felt Cameron & Alex missed (or at least glossed over) that interaction. /BeingThatGuy I love that Highlander lists often bring up cards that were great but never really got played heavily. Like, I forgot about Shaman of the Great Hunt but I love everything that card is doing.
Will Bowdren Xenagos is very good in midrangey decks (especially in Kiki pod) but in aggro you'd rather have a faster walker like Domri. very surprised it's not in this list.
I am surprised that Friday Nights and Commodore Hustle haven't yet had a scene casting Cam as the "accountant" character- the Robert Khoo analog who rattles off the financial reasons your idea is stupid. (perfectly good episode, btw)
I wish there were more people out east that played canlander, love the format, but have only been able to get 2 others to proxy decks to play with me so far.
Cam and Alex, Calex! The best two colours of magic, Cam and Alex that is, not Gruul! Saying red doesn't have flying. Dragons, Mofos! Speaking of Blood Moon and white boarders, I run an 8th Ed blood moon in my gobos edh deck. Opponents feel bad man. Turn 1 green's sun for Dryad Arbour, pretty sweet.
Yeah. Jeskai isn't really a color combination that lends itself toward hard control. It's kind of a balanced proactive/reactive control deck. Aggro-control, maybe. Enough pressure on the board to threaten slower control decks and enough disruption to defend itself from fast opponents.
Small nitpick. There is NO card that utilizes energy but can not generate atleast enough Energy for a single activation. That was one of the design restrictions R&D set themselves. There are cards that generate them, without a use for them, but not the other way around.
I don't remember when, but they said that innistraad was a loss and they would have kaladesh nicknames out really early in the cycle, in fact, I believe they promised prerelease weekend, although that might just be wishful thinking on my end. I know that the promised kaladesh nicknames early in the cycle to make up for missing innistraad block
Obligatory "This still really needs its own podcast named sensei's diving talk" comment.
Thank you! I wanted this deck tech back when you two did the black/green deck tech.
Yay for Sensei's Divining Talk
Hey, do you think you guys could just start a highlander podcast. This is such a cool looking format.
The piglet reference made me
So happy you have no idea thank you guys :D
Cam and Alex do the best tap tap concede episodes

I would have mentioned Berserk too, but it was talked about towards the end of the video.
Would Lathnu Hellion be worth a slot? 3 mana 4/4 haste?
What about kessig wolf run?
Great topic, great commentators, great work.
Did I mention it was great?
oh man another highlander deck tech. :D
The thing about Biomass Mutation is that is alters base P/T. If you were playing it in the Simic deck, then all your evolved creatures kept their counters on top of their new P/T, and were rad.
ALEX! I have an 800 card box filled with one drops because, guess what? One drops rule! Thanks for not making me feel alone in my love of value!
id love to see a decklist of this
Not School then.... Oh a new Gruul deck. My favorite color pair, Im going to have to try that
Where can I find the deck list for this sick deck?
Can we get a decklist in the description please?
How about Avalanche Riders as part of the mana denial plan that can also just 2 your opponent as well?
How do you feel this aggro deck compares to the golgari aggro one you posted some time ago?
I love when you guys do TTC. I love all of you guys :D
how do i convince my friends to play highlander?
Threaten to kill their family.......nah I'm just kidding...but seriously.
In reality you should set rules to allow for proxies for the most expensive cards and convince them that they're stupid if they don't play the greatest format.
seems dece. i guess i can try that
He cut his mic otherwise we would be deaf.
Here's the thing: Not everyone can play Highlander as a format. You have to consider the rules, the limitations, and the "style" of presentation you are gong after.

how do I find friends to play casual magic?
I would really love to see this deck in action - any chance you guys could play like a highlander showmatch on camera? Maybe do a deck-tech of two decks separately and then pit them head to head on camera?
When you guys do decklists can you make them on tapped out? On another note, WHY NO ATARKAS COMMAND!?
Do you not have Dryad Arbor? Green sun for 0 for Dryad Arbor is the best target usually.
Also, I think you should definitely run atarka's command! This is THE deck for it. Correct me if I missed either of these cards being mentioned
I agree, but I think you meant Dryad Arbor instead of Arbor Elf
Haha oops, my bad.
I happen to be wearing my Jund Em Out t-shirt right now. Good coincidence.

I can't remember if Alex mentioned it, but this seems like a Temur Battle Rage deck
Totally is
I kinda wish more people around here plays Can-lander, but I have a fair amount of fun playing Commander, so it's almost the same.
Almost.
God, I miss playing aggro.

Is Larger than Life playable? +4/+4 and Trample, but at sorcery speed. Replace Colossal Might?
Did you consider running stoke the flames?
Could we get a written decklist perhaps? I want to try this out in my playgroup
Biggest pig is Decimator of Provinces or Woolly Razorback both are 7/7's, Decimator is the hoof like one, razorback is a weird white card from coldsnap.
No atarka's command? Alex WTF?
Dryad Arbor for Green Sun Zenith? ramps you to your 3 mana stuff And makes onelander + Zenith safer?
When does this become a seperate podcast?
So I think the idea with Biomass Mutation was that if you played it in Simic, a lot of your power & toughness was coming from +1/+1 counters applied to small bodies. I want to build mono-w cdh, could you guys do a "how to" for that because I don't understand how to brew any highlander format.
Nice ATARKA deck you got there.
Chulump Gehring F U C K Y O U
You forgot to add both Cinder Glade, which may not be good enough, and Atarka's Command which you should definitely be playing.
Biomas works with evolve cus they have the counters on them on top of the x/x
I'm just looking at this deck, and I'm just weeping at the money he's spent on it
In pauper you do not play guild gates, you play gain lands and karoos. And evolving wilds.
what about blossoming defense from Kaledesh
No temur battle rage or artarka's command? Is berzerk banned in highlander?
Leatherback Baloth? Attarka's Command? Also Domri Rade?
Grim Lavamancer?
Very surprised not to see Domri here, especially in such a creature heavy deck.
Would xenagos the planeswalker fit in here? I know the God wouldn't because it's 3rg
Will Bowdren Xenagos is very good in midrangey decks (especially in Kiki pod) but in aggro you'd rather have a faster walker like Domri. very surprised it's not in this list.
21 mins in and still no bloodbraid elf, skepticism growing...
EDIT 33:41, got there
I am surprised that Friday Nights and Commodore Hustle haven't yet had a scene casting Cam as the "accountant" character- the Robert Khoo analog who rattles off the financial reasons your idea is stupid. (perfectly good episode, btw)
More highlander content!!!!
no burning tree emissary?
Play Aether Hub for incidental energy value?
I wish there were more people out east that played canlander, love the format, but have only been able to get 2 others to proxy decks to play with me so far.
Any way for us to get a decklist?

Cam and Alex, Calex! The best two colours of magic, Cam and Alex that is, not Gruul!
Saying red doesn't have flying. Dragons, Mofos!
Speaking of Blood Moon and white boarders, I run an 8th Ed blood moon in my gobos edh deck. Opponents feel bad man.
Turn 1 green's sun for Dryad Arbour, pretty sweet.
Not Gruul?
Can we get a deck list??
No Dryad Arbor?
19:27 Mute failed
biomass mutation can also be bonkers with evolve
I was thinking that Flametounge Kavu was missing the word "flying."
indestructable
I thought it was player
we have fanatic of movie for that
Mogis, autocorrect man
i want to take this deck list, convert it into edh and run it in my play groups
I bet this is going to be a ton of fun to beat people down with.
Needs more atarka's command
Also, a cool deck to brew would be a First Strike/Deathtouch deck.
Maybe Kiln Fiend is kind of good here? You could cast Berserk and attack for 8 trample with no other support.
I got a guy once by naming Ghor-Clan Rampager with Pithing Needle.
So he hardcast them and beat me with 4/4 tramplers.
please do a seperate highlander podcast.
Horned Kavu could be pretty sweet in this deck.
decklist?
12:33 WELL DO I HAVE A DEAL FOR YOOOOOOU!
this makes me want to build a Highlander mill deck.... Walls, spiders, mill, graveyard return, counterspells to stop their graveyard spells.
mill is awful in highlander unless it is combo mill
and I was about to go to the mall, the mall can wait
Is jeski control a deck in highlander?
Yeah. Jeskai isn't really a color combination that lends itself toward hard control. It's kind of a balanced proactive/reactive control deck. Aggro-control, maybe. Enough pressure on the board to threaten slower control decks and enough disruption to defend itself from fast opponents.
TheStephenation thx
you were missing skullcrack, alex
Surrak dissapointed not in deck. Hunt be Calling YOUR name next!
Small nitpick. There is NO card that utilizes energy but can not generate atleast enough Energy for a single activation. That was one of the design restrictions R&D set themselves. There are cards that generate them, without a use for them, but not the other way around.
Anyone here from the North 100 episode on the Top 5 Red/Green cards?
Oh cool shamans got tromple
Spell Rupture would be a lot cooler if it was the collective power of creatures you control, not the highest.
deathcult rogue
Unspeakably Dank is my emo metal band
Ah, but if you biomass mutation for 0 . . .
give. kaladesh. nicknames. next. week. PLEASE
we still need eldritch moon Nick names :(
