    The top of the cable is not "pressed" into the handle. Take off the upper most plastic guide ring then pivot the cable upwards/outwards 90 degrees to disengage the plastic tab on the cable. Reinstall the new cable in reverse order.

    Good video, thanks, mine is two years old with 45 hours (put hour meter on when new) and parked inside every night when it broke. Basically 2.5 seasons on a half acre yard, the cable was done...

      It happens, Just try and do your best to lubricate it every once in a while and that should help!

    Just wanted to add, to remove the plastic part of the cable, lift up 90° and cable will slip right out, no need to force that plastic part out, thxs

    Is there a way to adjust the cable so that the blade brake arm (bracket that tensioner pulley attaches to) does not vibrate like crazy when the blades are engaged?

    • @scottwalker19
      @scottwalker19  Рік тому

      You may have an issue that is beyond adjustment. I have never experienced that on my machine. I actually just had to replace my cable again and it seems Toro has made a change in design slightly (mainly a new tensioner bracket) so you might look into that

    You ever see the top part of the engine pulley shear off and slice up the v belt?

    • @scottwalker19
      @scottwalker19  5 років тому +1

      I have never seen that happen. I have not even heard of that happening. Lots of other common issues thought.

      @@scottwalker19 yeah idk how but apparently the part number has changed from original and mine is a 2017

    • @scottwalker19
      @scottwalker19  5 років тому

      Mine is a 2015 so I am not sure. They should be pretty much the same machine. Sometimes companies change part numbers when they update a part. So if the original part has issues they will “supersede” (change to the new part) the old part. This is kind their way of knowing internally that the new part number is the one you should need since the old part number is something they have trashed since it had some issue.

    what would cause the mower to shut off when the blades are engaged?

    • @scottwalker19
      @scottwalker19  4 роки тому +1

      Thats hard to say. You could be low on gas, the engine could have something wrong with it, or something could be seized up or binding to causing the engine to stall.

    Where do you attach the cable on motor end?

    • @scottwalker19
      @scottwalker19  2 роки тому

      The blade engagement cable should attached to a tensioner pulley under the black housing that covers the Blade pullies

    Why is it cutting off when blades begin to engage ?

    • @scottwalker19
      @scottwalker19  4 роки тому

      I am not sure what you mean by cutting off? If you pull the handle back to quickly you can probably choke out the engine. As you engage the blades you are putting a load on the engine so if you do that too quickly you could cause the mower to shut off.

      @@scottwalker19 once i engage the blades it dies.

    • @scottwalker19
      @scottwalker19  4 роки тому +1

      There could be a lot of things that could cause that. You could be engaging the blades too fast. The engine could have something wrong with it. It could be low on gas. You might just have to take it into a dealer and have them look at it. They will be able to look at it in person and go from there.

    This video is bad information. He's just guessing. You do NOT pry off the plastic cable.

    • @scottwalker19
      @scottwalker19  Рік тому

      That is correct! The cable need to be detached for the most part near the mower deck and then the plastic piece that attaches at the drive handle area rotates and will slide out. It should not be forced off. I did make that mistake and figured it out taking it off. When there are no instructions you learn the hard way, I believe the newer updated cable kits come with instructions, if you just by the cable that may not be the case.
