  • I know it's a long video but I wanted to go for a ride and show the bike as I failed to do last time. Still learning how to edit and trim so I'm afraid it's probably not going to look very smooth!

Thanks for uploading this. I got a really good feel for the bikes character to ride at these speeds. These are the exact same types of roads I have around me. (West of Ireland) Same Grey Sky as well. Love the sound of the Exhaust. Summer cant come quickly enough. 👍

Glad you enjoyed it man! If I have to be honest low speeds aren’t great for the 848, anything below 30mph is painful (clutch is hard, engine doesn’t like it, etc.) but the sound and agility more than makes up for it when it’s time to open up 😉

Thank you, I know I can't wait either. I'm looking forward to not have to worry about my hands falling off after half hour haha!

Grip the tank with your thighs and use your abs to take the weight off your wrists. The seat should be comfy as is; your upper body weight should be held up by your glutes and thighs - the biggest muscles in your body. My Ducati 748, not too different from the 848, was way more comfortable than the sit up and beg position of my BMW 650GS adventure bike, which used to kill my back on a long ride. Yes, we are all different, but until I learned the secret to ergonomics on my 748 it was a chore to ride too. Yes, always ride your own ride. Idiots seem to shine in a group ride.

Thanks for the tip, I do try to squeeze with my legs but I also find that tiring if you're constantly applying pressure. I'll try to emphasize it more though next time I go for a ride and see how I get on. The 748 is a classic!

@@britboybike_adventures3813 Thinking about it now, it’s a dynamic thing where at different times you need to grip more, such as when the road surface is poor. If I could predict a dip I would take some of the weight off my butt through my legs down to my feet - balls of my feet on the pegs. Also through turns having pressure on the outside peg seemed to help stability of the bike. I loved my 748. It was sensory overload, like a jet fighter on two wheels.

Great video I have the same bike but the evo version, I agree with everything you said. Im from Essex originally but now in Norfolk and totally get what you say about the bumpy off camber back roads making the bike feel so out of shape, I sometimes wonder how I get out of my home village lol. I think the 848 and Ducati sports bikes in general suit smaller people, i'm 5'6'' 11 stone and find it comfortable for what it is, I recently went from two piece leathers to one piece and found them way more comfortable to ride in especially for moving around the bike. I mostly ride on my own now days but do sometimes go out with 1 or 2 friends, I used to ride in groups years ago in Essex blasting down to Burnham/Maldon/Finchingfield and you get drawn in to speeding/overtaking at bad times to keep up etc, always nice to park up on the Norfolk coast at Hunstanton and chat to other bikers though :)

Nice man, glad to hear you feel as I do with the bike, is the evo much more powerful do you know? I suppose being on the taller side doesn’t help, I wonder if a higher seat, like a padded one would help relax my knees. Im jelous, not been riding in Norfolk but I know it’s pretty around there! Yeah nothing quite like taking a couple of hours riding with just you and your thoughts without worrying about chasing your mates. Safe riding!

@@britboybike_adventures3813 The evo I think about 5 HP more than the standard 848 plus has Brembo front brakes and a steering damper as standard, all the 848's are very hard on the rear suspension as I believe they are sprung to take a rider + pillion from factory if anyone is mad enough to do that on a 848! Worth setting the sag on the rear shock and forks as that will help if you haven't already done that, a local shop did mine but with the standard spring they couldn't get it 100 percent as i'm not heavy enough but it is a fair bit better. Ideally I need a lighter spring on the rear or fit an aftermarket shock to get it perfect. A few times i've hit a sharp bump and been bounced up off the seat a few inches :) You could try some adjustable rear sets that might help and as you say a padded seat..

      This one:
      techmounts.com/shop/ols/categories/53-mmforktube-euro-mounts
Expensive but it’s super sturdy and it’s the only one I’ve found for the 848 that fits
