Love theese little big things! I have two that I use with my Zoom F6, timecode-linked via bluetooth through a UltraSync Blue! Highly recomended.

Hi Lars, thanks for dropping by. Have you tried other mics beyond the supplied Zoom? How does the UltraSync Blue talk to the F6 and the F2 simultaneously? Sounds like a great timecode solution? Ta like, ppm6.

@@ppmtv-qh9qk I have a pair of Sennheiser ME2´s, that are slightly better than the included lavs. The UltraSync BLUE uses bluetooth to sync the timecodes on both the F2`s and F6. You need the BT version of F2, and the bluetooth dongle for F6 to make it work.

Lars, thanks for that - I've been meaning to do something on the bluetooth dongle for the F6 I'll have a look round for an UltraSync. But I might do the cheap lav mics for the F2 first. Ta like, ppm6.

I love this little fellow so much that I now have two. Works great with Ultrasync Blue so Ican sync it with my other recorders (Tascam X8, Zoom F3, Zoom F8nPro) easily. I am not a huge fan of the included lav, but it is not unusable. It pairs nicely with the Rode Lavalier II for example. The battery life is amazing, set it and forget it for the rest of the day even with cheap NiMH batteries.

24 bits for free? Hmm. I bet you can also fit 2 whole 16 bit CDs on that thing - AT ONCE! Someone call Pete Townshend, long live Quadro-feindia! I'll show myself out.

Thanks for dropping by TP - I think you would have to fold the CDs to get them in there, or maybe MQA could help here, just fold the data! Ta like, ppm6.

Neat little bit of kit, I take it the mic. connector is a threaded jack? Can it power other personal mics itself, ECM 77 or MKE 2 perhaps. The bluetooth interface makes it in many ways. Best, Hugh

Hi Hugh, yes the mic input is a threaded 3.5mm jack. To be honest I feel a bit out of my depth with the whole plug-in power business. I have a Sennheiser lav, I think it is an MK2, I pulled it out of an old BBC VHF kit! and it works with the F2. I checked Sony's spec on the ECM 77 and it says 1.1 to 10v. Well the Zoom F2 delivers 2.5v, so it should work. It would be great if someone who really knows weighed in here! And yes the bluetooth really makes all the difference. Ta like, ppm6.

Very keen to watch this, but just climbed into bed and can’t risk waking the wife. Just writing to say I’ve just picked up an F3 myself. These look like nice toys!

Hi Andrew - I think the F3 is all together a more pro solution. Do let me know how you get on with yours. The F2 feels more like an H series bit of kit rather than than a true F series machine. Having said that it does the job and is super affordable. Ta like, ppm6.

Wait, who makes the best cheap lav mics in the world? Thanks for the review. I've been testing the F2BT and quite like it for its easy convenience. I just wish they'd make these with P48 capability to power DPA4060s and such...

Hi Malte - lav mics are certainly not my area of expertise! I have some AKGs from the Blueline series and a COS 11 for my Micron kit and that's it. And when I say cheap I mean cheap! The Lindos mics I've had for a while and had some great fun with them. Lindos are best known in broadcasting for their test and measurement gear. www.lindos.co.uk/
FEL is a soundrecordist, ex BBC guy, been around a while, started making boosters like a Cloudlifter.
      micbooster.com/10-clippy-and-pluggy-microphones
I have one if their mics bought just recently and I'm looking forward to trying it.
Both Lindos and FEL mics are less than £50 so we're not in DPA territory here! On the power thing, there's no standard for plug in power, it can be up to 5v. But the F2 only supplies 2.5V. I think this means some mics might not work and some will take an output/dynamic range hit. But I don't now for sure. Anyway on to the Lindos and the FEL in the next videos. Thanks for dropping by. Ta like, ppm6.

@@ppmtv-qh9qk I've heard the Clippies mentioned in the same conversations as the LOM lavs and thought about featuring them in my new column for "Journalist" magazine in Germany. It's such a pity that shipping things from the UK to Germany has become such a hassle after Brexit. In any case, I'm all for using "good enough" mics when it comes to podcasting etc. Bit like Robert Capa said, just for audio: If the picture isn't good, you weren't close enough. It's amazing how much can be achieved in terms of useable sound with very little budget nowadays.

I had horrible cracks with any small movement on the mic input, had to return... otherwise an amazing little recorder. For a more professional thus more expensive solution is the superb Tentacle Track E.

Hi thanks for that info - was that a problem you had from the start or did it come on gradually? I have a couple of alternative mics I need to try. Tentacle make good gear no doubt. Ta like, ppm6.

@@ppmtv-qh9qk it was there from the beginning, some sort of a design error on the plug itself I guess. When you move around the jack, you can hear it, a sad thing for sure for an otherwise amazing recorder!
