@Hazelclark No. They are artisans, skilled in music, dance, and many traditional practices like tea ceremony. During the war, prostitutes would sometimes take on some of the styling of the geisha to appeal to foreign soldiers, but they were not geisha, and geisha were not prostitutes.
Those prostitutes were also called "Geisha Girls". Totally different than the traditional geishas

ahh....back when you used drugstore items, your fingers instead of promoting your own brushes, and didn't apply your eyeliner completely flawlessly.....this video was much more affordable and "real"-feeling. Like you were just another normal girl doing her makeup, like the people who watch you :)

How did Michelle change her eye shape? Here she has a more hooded eye with a double eyelid crease, but in her more recent videos she has a straight up standard eye. I know she uses tape or glue sometimes, but even before she puts makeup on she has a standard eye now...

Normally I like Michelle and her tutorials but...At this makeup me nothing reminiscent of a geisha or a "modern" geisha...sorry dudes. A normal geisha weares the three auspicious colours white, black and red...sorry but this is not a modern geisha makeup...
It's a look meant for Halloween - you're not supposed to think of it as literal geisha makeup, just one that's easy enough to put on with colors you're more likely to have and be wearable yet "geisha-like" enough for a fun night. I think using a lot of the normal makeup would offend more people than the one she's used, actually - a lot of detail goes into actual geisha look so there'd be a higher chance of pointing out things that're wrong. The only thing I'd say is that if you want you could always switch her pink with red (think she did that to match the orchids), but that's your choice.

AVANT GARDE! means you can use inspiration and create whatever you want. in her case she used a Geisha as her inspiration and did her own interpretation. Avant Garde means you can do whatever the hell you want. This is not a history class.
